I can hear a crack of a gunshot on the other side of the map but I can't hear my wife screaming 3 feet from me. 10/10 will buy again if the wife breaks them.
FIrst off, this is a great value for the money, its hands-down a very solid headset. I have some audiophile headsets and high end wired and wireless headsets, so I have been running the Stinger's through some gaming and music to compare. I purchased these because we have the Cloud I's and the Cloud II's in our home and I have had them for several years and they still look like new, so I knew that it would be comfortable and the sound signature would be tuned fairly well. These are a little more bass heavy in a standard gaming setup w/o a amp or Astro mixamp. The lows are very good, mids are decent, and the highs are good. Basically, the 53mm drives from the Clouds have been placed in these as 50 mm drivers because the only thing i can tell on audible testing is that the mids are clearer on my Cloud II's for gaming and music. If you use a mixamp then that is when you will not be able to tell the difference between Cloud I's or II's. I use these with a mixamp TR and they are very comfortable. I have large ears and these completely cover them while also providing decent noise cancellation. Something of note here regarding the noise cancellation, it is passive and is not as good as the Cloud II's, but I feel that the Cloud I and the II clamp down a little hard on my head and the Stingers do not clamp down. The memory foam ear pads and the lightweight frame make this a headset you will hardly notice. The build quality seems very good and as for the mic, it works fine and I have had no issues for this week of use. I would sum it up as 50 bucks well spent if you are on a budget or just looking for a comfortable headset because the Stinger's are both of those.
Now a few drawbacks I see about the headset from my perspective. The mic stays attached the entire time, so that may be a negative to some. Also no built in mic monitoring that I can tell in my mic testing I have done so far. On XB1 you can setup mic monitoring within the accesories app with a newer controller model with a 3.5 mm jack and place it to an acceptable range. On PS4 testing it is pretty much no mic monitoring, but for 50 bucks I will say that everything all works with no glaring issues and again it is mixamp friendly which is super attractive. I would definitely take these over my A40 TR's just on the fact of comfort alone, not to mention the price. I hope that Kingston ultimately takes this exact Stinger build and makes it into a Stinger II with some higher level build quality and even wireless, that would be the best gaming headset around.
TLDR; The Stinger is a super comfy, mixamp friendly headset that sounds really close to its big brother the Cloud I and II's. Your going to be hard pressed to spend 50 bucks and find a better headset. I have compared many more expensive headsets to these and sound and comfort wise, these are right there with those headsets.
If my review of the Kingston HyperX Cloud Stinger has helped you make a decision about purchasing please give me a postive rating.
The entire body of the cloud stinger is made of plastic but still have a very solid and premium feel to them, the plastic doesn’t creek when they flex like other headsets can. Most of the finish is a matte plastic with a few accents in gloss. There is leatherette padding inside of the headband which has a good amount of cushion. The headband has a nice and firm adjustable steel slider that clicks at each notch. Each earcup can rotate and pivot. The swivel has a very good feel to it and allows them to fit perfectly over my ear. The earcups have a memory foam cushions which are very soft and provide enough padding to keep my ear from touching the driver. My ears usually touch the driver on a lot of other gaming headsets, but I was very happy with how comfortably these fit over my ears. The headset does feel big and bulky, and the cushions can get warm. They don’t breath as much as I’d like, the earcups clamp down slightly but are very comfortable to wear for hours. They make a very snug fit over your ears. They didn’t cause my ears to sweat, but I can see that happening if you're a heavy sweater.
On the bottom of the right earcup there is a volume control, this won’t control the volume of your device, only the volume of the headset, so I would turn the volume up to about 90 percent and then control the volume on the headset. The slider feels good overall but it doesn't slide smoothly the entire way, it gets a little bit harder to slide when you turn the volume down all the way. But it's a nice feature and allows you to quickly turn the volume down if you needed to.
The mic is not removable like it is on the more expensive cloud headsets but you can turn the microphone up to mute when you are not using it. There is actually a switch in the mic that turns on and off when you swivel it. It's also flexible, so you can bend the mic to find just the right position.
The Cloud stinger features 50 mm drivers which do an amazing job. I was really surprised how great these sounded, especially for a 50 dollar headset, but they sound as good as headphones twice the price. This headset is tuned for action, they aren’t as flat as a good pair of headphones but they do an amazing job of really emphasizing action. The bass hits hard and there is more weight to explosions. When using these to watch a movie, I felt that they were a bit boomy in the lower mid range, especially when there were scenes with deep bass and dialog. But these sounded great for music, the bass was deep, the vocals were clear, and there was a lot of detail in the highs. These have a nice wide soundstage as well. They feel open and I felt I had a better sense of my surroundings in first person shooters. This headset performs great at loud levels as well, and don’t distort.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this headset, although the went with an all plastic design to cut costs, they didn’t skimp when it comes to sound. They are very comfortable to use for long gaming sessions and they have a very durable and well made feel to them.
Updated to 5 stars all in all this headset is great and once I got used to it, it was very comfortable. I have decided this headset does everything I need for now so I’m going to wait to order one with a mixer and more features. I’ve gotten used to the mic mute flip feature with more time and now it’s not so strange muting and adjusting volume (note: I normally adjust volume from Xbox mixer settings instead of the volume adjuster on the headset).
SUMMARY: I bought the Hyperx Cloud Stinger and at this time I’m giving 4 stars, however it is most likely a 5 Star Headset I just want some time to make sure. So far I I can honestly say this headset is well worth it just keep in mind I’ve only had it for about a week! It’s very comfortable, has great sound, a great price, seems to be working great with Xbox One, and is made with quality! I don’t think you find a headset in this price range that’s better than this one and many say this headset is better than very expensive ones from what I’ve read. I may wind up getting another Hyperx Cloud headset with a Audio mixer and mute button since I’m not sure I’ll get used to moving the mic up and down to mute it as you have to do with the Stinger (I’m used to a mute button by the controller which makes it fast and simple to mute) and I would like to control volume settings without going into my Xbox audio settings or hopefully Xbox makes a simplier option to this and muting. (You don’t need the adapter with this headset for Xbox one if you have the controller with a 3.5mm jack)
Long Review (Still updating and pending final product rating):
COMFORT: They are very comfortable to me (I am a female and most aren’t comfortable to me and are too big but without this headset adjusted at all it fits pretty comfortably). When it’s adjusted to be larger it fits my boyfriend as well so this is a great headset for either female or male.
SOUND:
I’m not audio/sound wizard or professional but the sound so far is very good. I’ve mainly played Fortnite br and Destiny 2 with this headset. I’m still messing around with different games to see the difference between different noises and using the volume mixer settings on Xbox One to see what sounds best. On Xbox One I’m able to press the home button, go over to System, and then to Audio to control the headset volume, adjust headset chat mixer, or mic montitoring. This headset does have the slider on the right ear so you are able on XB1 to get all your volume levels setup and then just use the volume slider on the headset ear if it’s to loud or quiet. Now that I have messed around with it a bit more I don’t find the need to go back into the audio settings on Xbox to adjust them, I have left them at a certain level that seems to be working great. However, for me I liked having all those volume control settings next to the controller but again maybe I can get used to it. Last thing is I’m messing around with trying Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for headphones since I read you can use these features with headphones that don’t have surround sound or do have it and as some say it makes a world of a difference... I’m still testing this out on Xbox One to see if they do make a difference with sound.
MIC/PARTY CHAT: Using Xbox party chat is huge and a must for me. I use it to talk to my boyfriend who I play games with from different rooms as well as friends. The first day I got these, I connected to a party chat and instantly he stated it was making a humming or some sort of low pitched noise. He isn’t into tech issues or troubleshooting so this was very hard for me to fix or understand since only he heard this noise. The next day he said he doesn’t hear it at all but I’m still a bit concerned so I’ll be trying to join other people in a party to see if they hear anything not right. Update: it looks like this issue may have went away and was either related to being new, my boyfriends headset, and/or me being in the Xbox insider alpha program.
MUTE FEATURE: The other thing that may just be something I have to get used to is the mic mute method on this headset, having to pull the mic up or down is something I feel takes more time than just pressing a mute button like I’m used to but like I said maybe I’ll get used to it. My boyfriend likes the mute method that the Stinger has more than me since he has a habit of putting up his mic even with his mic not having this feature. I think this is just a preference and dependent on if you can get used to it.
OVERALL RATING: 9/10 I would recommend this headset to someone. For the price and the quality you get I don’t feel there’s a better headset you’ll find!! I hope my review helps you and if you have any questions leave a comment to this review and I’ll reply ASAP.

Fantastic headset for the price! The earpieces are very comfortable and can definitely drown out the surrounding noise when you've got them cranked at full volume. The intuitive microphone design is great too. Before this I had the PS4 wireless headset and sometimes my wife would come in and not know whether I was in a chat or just listening to my game, and now she knows if the mic is up, I'm good to talk, and if it's down...it's game time! Also the easy lift-to-mute function on the mic is great. The cross platform compatibility is another big plus, as I can jump from gaming on my computer to my console with no fuss at all.
At $50, you can't do much better than this in terms of quality gaming headsets. Is it the best? No - and if you want to spend big bucks to get a top-of-the-line headset, then you do you! But if you're a gamer on a budget or would rather spend your money on other things (like upgrading your video card), the HyperX Cloud Stinger is a great pick!

Great sound quality and fit very comfortably on my large head without clamping down my ears. Plugged right into my xbox one controller and I am able to control the sound easily with the slider on the headset. For the price point you will be unable to find anything even close to the quality of this headset. Very pleased overall and construction feels sturdy enough to last a very long time without abuse.
I am extremely happy with this headset. I've been using it for a couple of months now on my PS4, PC and cell phone. The sound is great, balanced bass and clear sounds, it feels like I'm inside a surround sound room. It even works somewhat of a noise cancelling, when you put them on even without sound, it muffles noise. There's a large sliding button under the right ear pad that controls volume, at first I thought this was unnecessary but ooh boy is it nice to adjust the volume on the headset instead of the device.
The MIC is clear and i haven't received any complaints from the receiving parties. in the upright position is off and in horizontal position is on. Very easy to use. Also, the mic is malleable and can be adjusted to a comfortable distance from your mouth.
the headset is VERY Comfortable. I had tried 2 other brands, at similar prices and this one is the best one, i returned the other 2 headsets.
Bottom line is i enjoy this headphones so much that I've even use them to just listen to music at home sometimes.
All in all the best headset i own. Mind, I'm not an audiophile but for the money and performance, you cant go wrong with this.
I have had a lot of headsets over the years, some great ones and some not so great ones. These are replacing my Logitech G430's and wow are these Hyper X headsets comfortable! Like so comfortable that I would never want to put those logitechs on ever ever again! For the little amount I paid for these, I am blown away with the build quality, they feel and look excellent! Microphone is crystal clear and speakers are pretty good! These are only stereo but as a casual gamer this is more than enough for my gaming needs. Pair this with the Afterglow LVL Headset Adapter for Xbox One and need nothing else! Only gripe, and I'm not even sure how accurate this is but every now and then when I click the microphone boom all the way up (should mute it) it does not work and people can still hear what I say. This may have happened once or maybe twice, so not sure if it was user error or not, but keeps me on my toes.
5 star, would recommend for sure!
I am very new to the gaming headset market and watched quite a few videos on probably 5 to 6 different headsets to see what people like/dislike about them. I came across the wire version of these wireless ones and most if not all of the reviews had nothing but positive things to say. I figured the wired ones couldn’t be much different seeing as how They are the same model. I just got these recently and only have played a couple games of call of duty black out, but all I have to say is that the audio quality is absolutely fantastic. It sounds like you’re sitting in an IMAX movie theater between the gun I just got these recently and only have played a couple games of call of duty black out, but all I have to say is that the audio quality is absolutely fantastic. It sounds like you’re sitting in an IMAX movie theater between the gun fire and explosions. I haven’t used the mic itself yet but the Videos of microphone test on YouTube I watched showed the quality was absolutely fantastic. There is a volume adjustment wheel which gives you a wide range of sound. I love on these healthy year cups go over your ears and don’t sit directly on them Therefore giving me hours of comfort. Thanks to the extremely lightweight design of these, they barely feel like they’re sitting on your head at all. Another cool feature on this Mike, is when you flip the microphone up, it automatically nudes so there aren’t any buttons to press or things to fidget with if you don’t want to talk anymore. I would absolutely recommend this headset to anyone, especially those new to the market like I am.
Update: After using this for a couple weeks I love it even more than I did when I first bought it. The volume goes more than high enough (In my opinion) and it is still as comfortable over top of my ears as when I first bought it. The sound is still unbelievable and there’s been a few times while playing that I’ve actually jumped a little bit while sitting on the couch due to the explosions & crack of bullets whizzing by. While playing call of duty Black ops, I can hear explosions and someone shooting on the other side of the map and these headphones damn near pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from. I would still recommend these to anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive wireless headset.
These work perfect with my Astro mixamp tr! The comfort is amazing from the soft ear cushions to the light weight design along with the sound! It is wayyy lighter then I thought it would be. The build quality is great too. I love that you can flip the mic up to mute it unlike headphones that have the mute on the cable (aka) my Astro a40 trs. The Astro trs don't compare to these. I know it all sounds way to good to be true for $50 dollars and I thought the same thing but I PROMISE you won't be disappointed.
