Brother ADS1000W Compact Color Desktop Scanner with Duplex and Wireless Networking

OMG, I love this scanner. It arrived last night, and I set it up and started using it this morning. I use a Mac, running OS Sierra, and I had no trouble at all installing the software (I followed the advice of another reviewer and downloaded it from Brother's website, rather than installing it from the included CD). It worked wirelessly right away. I am now scanning a 600-page thesis with it, and it's zipping along just fine. It scans faster with a direct USB cable connection, but I'm perfectly happy with the wireless scanning feed - it's a heck of a lot faster than using my flatbed scanner, and I can load up a pile of 20 or so sheets and just let it do its thing while I'm doing something else. And I can't believe how compact it is. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

Scans super fast, ADF(automatic document feeder) works great, paper should be straight without crumbled edges to ensure good feed scans. Stand-alone product can scan directly to USB drive(not provided) or a running computer. This model does not scan to email or ftp as a stand-alone...to scan to email or ftp you'll need to use the provided software on your computer to do so. (this is important to know as I thought differently when I purchased, but still rated 5 stars based on it's other options).

To setup the item, I used a wireless laptop with a usb connected for preliminary setup. The software found the unit, found the wireless SSID name, and applied my settings to the device. From my Windows 7 desktop and Windows 8 laptops it found the device rather easily as well (once it was connected to the wireless network). For example (Windows 7) You just go to "Start" ->"control panel" -> "View devices and printers" -> "add a device" -> "find the ADS-1000W" and add it. Then use the software in the package or your own favorite software to scan and create PDF's, JPGs etc.

Speed: When scanning black and white images over the wireless the sheets feed through super quick and it gets transmitted to the computer or usb stick(not provided) very quick too... Business speed ready in my opinion. As for full hi-resolution color, it scans a bit slower(but still fast compared to others) but it transmits over the wireless a little too slow due to the size of the PDF or JPG it's transmitting over your wireless network. If you're scanning 2 or 3 hi-res images the time to transmit it to your computer via wireless is tolerable, but if you plan on scanning 10 to 15 hi-res images/documents to one PDF, plugging in the direct USB connection might be your best bet. (I didn't try the 10 to 15 hi-res documents to test out the speed, I'm only estimating based on the 2 hi-res color documents time to transmit over wirreless to my PC.)

I've personally tested this device on Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Standard and used 1 gig USB drive for direct scanning in stand-alone mode. (stand-alone mode meaning no computer necessary)

ONE MORE GREAT FEATURE: when scanning to a LOCAL USB drive in stand-alone mode, the scanner scans both sides of the document at once which SAVES huge amounts of time on duplex documents. The unit is perfect desktop size. The paper feeder has hinges which allows it to fold down and close up to a small rectangular box (great for travel or just desk space savings) which automatically tells the device to go in standby mode. Also, when you unfold the paper feeder, it has two extra supports that extend the paper feeder another 6 inches beyond what the stock picture shows which gives the paper more support when you have a larger stack of 8.5 x 11. This extension allows for better paper support to keep the papers straight while being fed into the machine. This model DOES not have a LCD digital display (another model above this I think does, but it's not necessary), It has a smooth touch pad like a laptop that has 6 static icons that light up for different functions (like scan directly to usb, start scan, scan to pc1,scan to pc2, stop scan, usb is connected).

Sheet feeder holds 20 sheets I think the specs say so if you scan a large number of documents then you might want to look at the 50 sheet feeder option on another Brother model. For small contracts and home documents it works perfect. They also include a clear "wrapping sheet" that is used to scan different sized items such a receipts. This clear sheet keeps small receipts from getting jammed. I also noticed on the back it has a place to scan cards like licenses, business cards etc. I haven't tried that option yet though.

Overall great product with business like speed, great options, great quality in a small compact unit.

We've now ordered five of these scanners for our office. It has turned to our go to scanner of choice due to the quality of the product as well as the small space it takes up on our desks. While not for super large jobs, it meets our needs 99% of the time and if we do have a larger stack, the included software does offer a job builder function to scan parts at a time and combine at the end, seamless. The quality is strong with a sturdy paper feeder tray and a reassuring heft to the scanner. I have not tried the wireless function but it's a nice addition. The feeder pads need replacing about once a year and are quite affordable. The software is easy to use with two types easy/advanced mode, I prefer the advanced (which is still easy to use) as it offers a plethora of scanning options, file types, shortcuts, etc.

Overall, this is an amazing product which we will continue to purchase as needed. I highly recommend it!

This is a great little scanner!

I hooked it up to an old laptop (Win XP), and in 3 evenings while watching TV, I scanned in 3 baker boxes full of paperwork! The hard part was removing all the staples and then shredding all the paperwork I no longer needed to store. I'll put all the scanned documents on CDs for permanent storage.

I scanned all the files to a folder on the laptop, then transferred to a network drive. I did not try scanning directly to the network, I'm sure that would be slower.

It scanned one side or both sides, and could scan to pdf, or to jpg (or bmp, tif, etc). I never tried the "scan and email" feature. You can choose the resolution, and at lower resolution, it scans real fast. Raise the resolution, and it scans slower, but the fast resolution was perfectly fine. I scanned to pdf, so that I could easily print it up again, if I need it someday.

It almost silent, not interferring with the TV sound at all. Just makes a little beep when finished scanning. It folds up for storage to a very small size. It plugs into the laptop with a usb cable, and also must be plugged into electric outlet.

The paper feeder worked fine, although I did sit right there to help guide sheets a little.
If a sheet was very wrinkled, I took it to the ironing board and just pressed it flat. (Do NOT do this with cash register receipts or any other thermal printed paper, they will turn black! Ask how I know!) When a jam happened, it was quick and easy to clear, reload, and resume scanning. It even scanned old dental xrays!

I fed in about 10 pages at a time. It would scan them, then ask to "continue or finsh?". I could then load more pages, or click "finish". It took about 1/2 hour to scan in a 200 page manual, 10 pages at a time.

Limitation: It will only scan 8 1/2 inch wide. I had some old certificates that were 9x12, and had to trim them to 8 1/2 before I could scan them.

Love the dual sided scanning front and back in a single pass. I have been using it about 3 weeks now and it works without a hitch.I have been pleased with the flexibility of the software. I use this on both a PC and a MacBook. The software on the Mac side is better if you are planning on scanning to PDF format because it gives you the option to scan lots of pages all at once via the auto paper feed and each page can be scanned into individual and separate pdf files. The PC version of the software only lets you scan those same multiple pages into one continuous pdf file with lots of pages. So on the PC I am forced to scan the pages into jpg files if I want separate file per page. Absolutely not a deal breaker for me and not worth taking off a star. However I would say the Mac software gets a slight nod to the better versus the PC version and this is coming from a PC guy.

I love this scanner so much that I have one in my office and home. I am computer challenged but found this little scanner very easy to set up and use. I use it for scanning invoices, reports, checks, and photo ids. It does a great job. The software that it comes with also offers ways to crop and adjust the scan. It recommends only loading around 5 pages at a time to prevent jamming but I have loaded more without problems. If it jams it is easy to fix and not a big deal to scan again. If you are wanting to scan huge files, you may want a machine capable of holding a large amount of paper so that you don't have to sit and keep feeding it. Overall a basic wonderful scanner.

I use this scanner to digitize documents, directly onto a USB drive plugged in the back. Didn't install any software or connect it to the network - none of that, it's air-gapped from anything on my network, and it does exactly what I need it to do: scans documents to PDF.

It has so far been able to automatically (and correctly) detect 2-sided documents, and scan quality is good for my OCR solution to recognize and index the contents. Money well-spent. Should have bought it a long time ago.

Followed the instruction and took me less than 5 min to get the wireless connection and software to work flawlessly.

It scans fast, clear, and the software is easy to use.

UPDATE: 05/31/2018 I've been using this product for over 3+ months now and I've learned that for the best result please make sure to level the scanner. Uneven surface could lead to paper jam and just be sure to pull papers backwards. If your papers are wrinkled or teared up badly on the edge then you may need a pair of scissors to trim off the edge.

This is a MUST have item for my office.

I splurged and bought this for my class this year as I am tired of having too many papers everywhere. It has already paid off. I purchased it last August in 2018. It scans both sides of the paper in color. You can scan receipts and photos too. It allows you to customize the file name and location and has a continuous scan feature so you can scan multiple batches into one file. It also automatically detects blank sides of pages and eliminates them from the file if you want. There are a lot of customizable options. It just notified me of a software update, so the manufacturer is keeping it up to date. It also has a wireless scanning feature. It isn't too big and doesn't take too much space.

I wanted a scanner that could scan genealogical documents (3-10 a month, so low volume user here). I've used it 5 or 6 times so far and I really like it. It did take some effort on my boyfriend;s part to set it up to scan wireless to my computer, so if you aren't so great at technology it might take awhile to figure it out. I also knocked a star off because you have to be really careful to put pages in straight or else they come out off center. But other than those two things I've been very pleased. I bought this case and it fits perfectly (including the charging cable) Hermitshell Hard EVA Travel Case Fits NOCO Genius G3500 6V/12V 3.5A UltraSafe Smart Battery Charger (I think I bought it for $11 on amazon).

Canon SELPHY CP1300 Wireless Compact Photo Printer with AirPrint and Mopria Device Printing, Black (2234C001)

I'm a photographer and I sit right next to a pair of very expensive (Epson) color printers most of my day but I have to say this is a pretty fun and simple little printer. Because this is a dye-sublimation type printer it uses a different type of technology that your standard inkjet printers. Instead of using tiny jets to spray ink into onto the paper, it uses a series of polyester ribbons that use heat to transfer colored dyes to the paper. One nice thing about this technology is that with a good quality dye-sub printer the smoothness of the tonalities is extremely high and they have superb longevity--Canon says 100+ years! Nicely made dye-sub prints are a joy to behold, they have great colors and tones.

This little Canon printer is a blast and the prints are of surprisingly high quality and, as I said, the tonal transitions are very good. Also, while you can connect the printer to a computer or your camera via USB, it's really simple to just pop in an SD card (though look at the specs carefully, you might need an adapter for certain types of SD cards). The LCD screen is very easy to see and the controls are simple and pretty much self explanatory.

It's also fun that you can get an accessory battery pack for this which means you could take it to a party or a friends house and just print things on the fly. The "photo booth" function is a riot and takes me back to my childhood/teenage years when we used to go to the mall and cram ourselves into a photo book and (for a quarter, I think, maybe it was 50 cents), take a strip of wacky portraits (though in my day those were in B&W).

There are some other options here, like party shuffle that lets you create collages from images sent to you via smartphone, but I havne't tried that yet (and likely never will). I really think that this is a fun printer to have around, especially at holidays, because you can shoot a couple of pictures and then print them out and hand them out to guests on the spot (as opposed to me being sent to my office upstairs to print things out and having to leave the fun!). You can buy an extra paper/ink set for under $30 that lets you print just over 100 prints, which is not bad at all (it's about 27 cents a print at that ink/paper price for 108 prints).

I’m extremely impressed by this small printer.
A couple days ago I bought the sprocket and it was HORRIBLE. I will post side by side comparisons vs the original below.
I originally seen this printer on “the best hit” a Korean drama. They were a sponsor I suppose. So I looked into it and originally had decided I wanted something smaller, but came back to this beauty after the sprocket failed me so horribly!

Haven’t played too much with selphy yet but I know u can resize photos and the WHITE part above and below the photo comes off if u want it to.

I bought this for a DIY wedding photo booth. I did a lot of research on 4 different types of printers for this project and I came up with this one. It exceeded my expectations for quality of print, price and size. 4x6" prints, fast print time and easy setup with their app. Easy to set up to wifi, make a template background and lock and set print display options. The guests loved it and were able to also send their photos to facebook, instagram, email and twitter. Plus we were able to keep all the photos taken. For the price and the amount of photos it could print, I would suggest this printer over and over again.

Had I done my due diligence to find that you can ONLY use this with the canon packaged toner+paper packs, I may not have bought it. But the print quality is amazing. If you only need occasional prints, this is very convenient - the "ink" (dye) doesn't dry out. I've gifted a couple of these to my family. I'm just hoping someone comes out with aftermarket toner+paper packs to bring the per-print price down. But as I said, it's reasonable.

Addendum: Trying to get certain things to print is hit or miss and you may waste paper/dye. It helps to set any pics to the 4x6 ratio before trying to print them. With mobile devices, not so much an issue. If you have something else you want to print, you have to edit it.

Surprised at how much I love this small printer. Is it the most amazing photo printer ever? or the Cheapest per print? the smallest? etc... No. What it is though, is good enough and portable enough to take it to parties and events and do real time photo booths, or scrap booking with high enough quality photos that everyone thinks it's a professional set up. We had a farewell party for a community member, and made a scrap book of the party for them to take with them as they move home to the other side of the planet. Paper/ink kits are reasonably priced and the 4x6" sized photos print beautifully from my Samsung phone.

I have something like 300+ photos through the printer and am still very happy with it. Easy reloading and paper adding make it pretty easy to show someone how to use at an event.

Except for the App that you have to use to print, I like the device itself. I've never used any of SELPHY product, so I can't compare to any previous models, but this little device does its job nicely. I use Iphone7 plus and before I print any pictures, I'll have edit photo ratio to 4:3, then I can see what's to be actually printed. The app doesn't do anything to edit the photo, so you will have to edit on your photo gallery before print it.

I bought this small printer for my girlfriend a few months ago to use to print photos from her cellphone. The printer itself and the printing process using the Canon print app from her iPhone were both easy to set up for anyone even a bit tech savvy. The quality of the printed photos is amazing and we framed a few around the apartment. Alas, my wonderful gift was not enough to keep us together in a long-distance relationship literally on the other side of the planet. It was a tough decision, but I let her keep the printer. After settling into my new apartment in New York City, I realize I miss the printer more than I miss her and bought another one for myself! Score... I guess.

This printer is functionally identical to the two previous SELPHY models have I owned over the last 15 years or so. Unlike the previous one which we replaced when we no longer had any computers that could print to it this one uses air print and thus works with everything. The start up time after plugging in and turning on may be a tad longer and this engine has never been fast, but that is entirely masked by the ease of printing directly from the phone. I haven't tried the buttons or screen as I've never seen a need.

The printer works great, but I was shocked to learn that the ink cartridge only prints 5 pictures. This will get expensive, especially if you include what I paid for the printer. Will most likely still use Walgreens for most photo printing. Wouldn't have purchased if I had known.

I travel a lot. I mean A LOT.
A hundred thousand miles a year is easy...and it's usually more. (Sometimes 2-3+ times that.)

As a photographer I LOVE my Selphy printers!
I call them my "propaganda" printers. LOL

I can shoot something in my travels and have it printed and ready to mail in minutes.
Yeah, yeah, I COULD send an email or post it online (and I do)...but there's something kinda cool about a postcard from across the world...or country...or state. Heck, even from a few miles away.

I love grabbing an image and then having a postcard printed within minutes.
I can send stuff to family & friends or past clients with little effort.

It has a few more features...like "Party Shuffle" & "Photo Booth" but I honestly have no clue about them.

It also prints stickers...which is kinda cool, but my main interest is in the "postcard" prints.
Yes, they can get chewed up going through the post...but that's ok...this is not for fine art...this is for sharing your adventures.

Sony ICD-PX370 Mono Digital Voice Recorder with Built-in USB Voice Recorder

I ordered a 8GB recorder of a different brand, which could in no way connect to my PC. No way of showing in Windows 10 as a file folder. Changed cables, changed ports, read the docs. It just didn't work. I returned it and tried this one. This Sony only has 4GB of memory, but it works perfectly. No issue connecting to a Windows 10 PC. The computer immediately sees the device as a storage drive. Smart by Sony to embed the USB connector into the recorder, zero cable to mess with.

So far I recorded 3 hours and over 20 files of audio, and the battery is still showing full. 4GB is plenty of storage. Unless you plan on never clearing the device memory, I don't see the need for more.

Native microphone quality is OK. I also bought a small lavalier microphone and connected it by wire to this device. The quality is nearly studio quality, after running the sound files through a sound editing software to remove background noise.

The interface is intuitive, buttons are where they should be and do what they should do. This is the recorder I was looking for.

I've bought several other small digital voice recorders, and had problems with all of them. This one WORKS! It has lots of good features that make it easy to use. I'm starting to read the user's manual that came with it now, but I've been using it with no problems since I took it out of the box, it is that simple to use. I've transferred files to my computer, deleted files, etc. and have not come across a menu in Chinese yet! One of the other recorders that I bought (and subsequently returned) got stuck on a menu in Chinese and I couldn't get it back to English.

The buttons are laid out well and are easy to operate. There is a battery indicator on the screen at all times so that you can see when it's getting close to needing new batteries--no surprises. I record voice with it, and the speaker on the recorder is good, although plugging in headphones makes the voice even clearer.

Another thing that I like about it is that when you go to delete a file, it starts playing the file so that you are sure which file it is. Nice. It also would accept an external mic, and has a "hold" feature which locks out all buttons so that if you have it in your pocket, it will not be affected by inadvertent bumps.

If this one quits working I'll buy another one of these. Finally, I have one that works!

It record pretty well and battery lasts long as advertised. The only complain - a big one - I have is that when you play the recording, there is no option to go back to any point unless you have already set a track mark. Basically it's impossible to rewind some seconds or a couple of minutes to double check what you heard a moment ago. My job sometimes requires me to listen to the recording on the device on the fly so this shortcoming is a huge drawback for me. When possible, I listen to the file on computer which allows me to rewind or forward any seconds or minutes. I would give it 5 star if this feature is available on the device.

This recorder has worked very well for recording the rehearsals of a choir I sing in and helping me learn the music. I am very grateful that it allows me to add track marks, which makes it easy to go over (and over) parts that I need to work on and skip the rest. It was relatlvely easy to learn to use via the website. I like that it uses AAA batteries so it's not dependent on a non-replaceable battery's life. I'm only giving it 4 stars because while the automatic recording settings seem to work very well, the "lecture", "meeting", "soft music", "loud music" didn't record at a high enough volume to be useful, even when I changed the mic characteristics. It's a good thing the auto setting works. Note that the recordings sound good when I plug it into my car radio or boom box, but are tinny when played through the recorder's tiny speaker.

The sound quality is pretty good, but for the money it's excellent. And very convenient to use. Because it is so light and tiny you find yourself taking it with you in a pocket, just for fun. You can record anything, and people assume it's just a phone of some kind. I tried this and it worked: narrate some thoughts, etc into the recorder, and then play that file over the computer sound system. While running Dragon Naturally Speaking (I have just the Home version) put a microphone up to the computer speaker. Dragon will transcribe what was recorded pretty well. So that's a way to use this cheap recorder and the cheap version of Dragon to automate transcription of your recorded musings.

Love it. Bought this model for three reasons:
1) Be able to set track marks during recording and be able to quickly rewind to several seconds or minutes before any one of the marks to rehear it again and again
The Windows software (Sound Organizer 2) that comes with the device helps a lot because I can use its interface to move the cursor to anywhere before the track marks I set.
2) Battery powered
Don't like other models that come with built-in rechargeable battery because it means there will be down-time (cannot use it until it is fully charged) occasionally and service time (replace dead battery) eventually. With this model, if the batteries are dead or about to run out, all I need do is to carry two AAA eneloop rechargeable batteries with me.
3) Under $50
Won't hurt that much if I lose it later

This is exactly what i was looking for. Fast power-up, easy to use. Minimal buttons, which makes it easy to use while driving and never having to look at it. Couldn't be happier.

The bottom line: Very fast delivery for international purchase and amazing product for its price!

I bought this recorder on 22nd last month here on Amazon and had it send to Taiwan, where I live, using the cheapest Standard shipping method. The initial estimated time of delivery was 8th this month, but amazingly it delivered to my house on 31st last month, meaning it took less than 10 days to deliver and the item arrived at my place about a week earlier than the estimated delivery time, which is amazingly fast for international delivery and the fastest delivery I've ever had with any product I bought from Amazon so far. The package arrived safely and the product was intact and well protected.

The product itself met all my expectations and some more. In fact it's better than the price it asked for IMHO. I'm glad I didn't pay more for the higher-end and more expensive model. And I don't understand why some people complain about its size or lack of LED screen. For me they aren't problems at all. True it may not be as compact as some of sony's other more expensive models but it sure isn't bulky either. It's compact enough for me. Also the lack of LED screen doesn't bother me either because I don't use it in the dark anyway. Besides having LED screen would only drain the batteries more quickly and I definitely don't want that. The point is you get what you pay for. For me what's important is the features of the product, which it totally delivered. I love that the settings are highly adjustable so that it can meet all the different recording needs and scenarios. And the ability to extend its memory up to 32GB through microSD card comes in handy too, especially if you need to record in the highest quality format LPCM. Speaking of quality, I mostly use this recorder for lectures and language learning and the recording quality is crisp and clear (the noise cancellation feature helps a lot there), and far superior than recording with iPhone (obviously).

Overall I have nothing to complain about its functions and recording quality. My only gripes (if there's any) are: Firstly the sound quality of the built-in speakers are less than satisfactory. Fortunately I never use them and only listen to the recording files with my earphones, so it's not an issue for me. But if you plan to use them then don't expect too much. They are merely servicable at best. Secondly you can't recharge the device with its USB plug even if you have rechargable batteries inside. I pointed this out because I used to have an older model that could do that but this one doesn't have that function. But again it's only a slight inconvenience so I can live with it. Besides, like I said earlier, you get what you pay for.

All in all I was very happy with this recorder and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quality recording device but doesn't want to spend a fortune and waste money on bells and whistles they don't need.

2019/4/2 UPDATE:
After more than 8 months of use, this recorder still works perfectly for me and I've also come to find that the build of the device is very robust because I've accidentally dropped it a few times from the desk or from my hand, yet there's barely a scratch. Although if I have to nitpick (other than what I've already mentioned above), I wish the recorder would allow the user to save their custom settings so they can easily switch among different ones depending on the situation. Also it takes a bit too much time to turn on the device. In normal circumstances this wouldn't be a problem but if you want to record something on the spot and you don't have it already turned on then it could be a bit annoying. But like I said, those are just my personal nitpicking and they don't affect my original review.

Seems to work pretty well. the recorded playback sound is a bit "tinny" but nothing to worry about. Seems clear, picks up every nearby sound, so if you are sitting nearby and comment, it will pick your sounds up better than the speaker. Does what I need it to do. Seems easy enough to operate.

I have used this recorder for paranormal investigating and to record conversations and it works very well. Very simple to use, very easy to upload files to a computer. The mic is very sensitive and picks up everything so it's great for EVPs/ghost hunting. I love it and would highly recommend this recorder.

Epson Expression Home XP-440 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner and Copier, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled

Setup was very simple -
- remove some stickers
- insert ink
- plug it in
- navigate to setup - wifi
- it found my network
- use the arrow keys to enter the passcode
- done, it was on the network
- my computer saw it and was able to print to it

Other positives from initial use:
- Print quality is excellent.
- The size is nice and compact, with the paper in the back and the print tray tucking away when not in use it takes just a little bit desk space.
- individually replaceable ink tanks is nice and more efficient than having all the colors in one
- Packs in a single sheet scanner and copier in as well

The price point for all of this is remarkably low. It packs a lot of functionality into a small, nicely priced box. The only thing I feel is missing relative to a higher end model is a multi sheet feeder for copying/scanning.

A note on price though:
Obviously the "game" here (and with all these color ink jets) is that they're practically giving away the device to sell the ink. At the current pricing, the cost of a set of replacement ink is about 60% of the cost of the entire initial purchase (which includes a set of ink). That is, 40% of the initial purchase is the hardware and 60% is your first set of ink. So moving forward, each set of replacement ink you buy costs more than the hardware!

So to understand the economics of buying this (or any printer), you want to look at ink costs relative to your expected printing volume. If you have very low volume of printing a sheet or two now and then, this is a steal at this price. If you print more than that, then ink costs are more important than initial costs and the replacement inks on this one aren't cheap.

This little machine is wonderful. Easy to set up...low profile...not too slow at all, and the print quality is FANTASTIC!. I've had Brother, HP, Canon, Dell and more, printers and not ONE compares to this picture quality; and, I haven't even tried it on photo paper, yet! (The worst quality was from a small, similar sized Brother, and the others...meh. But this one, it's definitely a keeper. We'll see how the ink costs go, and I expect it to be higher. But, I do have a very good larger Brother that is really great for everything, except photos, and also is super fast.)

First, let me say, I don't usually take the time to review something unless it is very good or very bad. Second, let me say, I am only mildly technically savvy. My fifth grader is going to surpass my knowledge soon. With that said, this printer is very GOOD! The printer was reasonably priced and ink refills also seemed to fit that bill. Setup was effortless. The quick start guide included in the box is easy to read and understand, and walks you right through it. I downloaded the epson print app from the app store and I can now easily print from my kindle or my android phone.

First off, I have only had the printer for a month. Amazon asks for reviews way too early to have fully evaluated the product. With that in mind, I would say that so far the Epson XP-440 printer is good. The one drawback I have encountered is that it does not include OCR for the scanner. You can save a document in editable PDF format, and then copy and paste into a word processor. But that does not always work. You cannot save a scanned document directly as an MS Word or rtf document.

So I will tell you that I use both OEM cartridges and cloned cartridges and have for about a year since I bought this printer. And YES, I have the latest firmware update. This printer does everything it was designed to do and does it quickly and easily. Setup is a breeze and it connects via wifi with no problems at all. Great little printer and for the price you can't go wrong. I own 3 of this model and none have let me down yet. Highly recommended.

THEY ACTUALLY KEEP UP WITH THE FIRMWARE UPDATES. The most I like about this printer is it actually works when I hit print. We rarely print, and when we want to print I want it to always work. All of my previous printers never worked when I wanted to print and printing has been such a pain. This printer actually works when you want to print. It updates, and I can print from my Mac Chromebook and PC without any worries. And yes I have all three.

I don't like that you have to connect a usb cable to scan to the computer. I do like that it is wireless for printing.

AmazonBasics 6-Sheet High-Security Micro-Cut Paper and Credit Card Home Office Shredder

I needed a new shredder and my companies really cracking down on expenses, so when I saw I could get a 12 page crosscut shredder for $50 in Amazons brand, I thought it was worth a try...then I saw this unit. Micro cut, class 4 security, but only 6 pages...hmm. I opted to try this one instead because I'm a gardener so all my shredded material gets used as mulch. The unit arrived later that day, love the same day delivery in the Phoenix area, and was impressed with how little packaging they manage to use, enviro-friendly for sure. I plugged it in and had some old mortgage docs I'd found while cleaning the garage. Despite the inch thick stack of mortgage documents, it didn't take that long to shred everything.

One page, it doesn't even notice papers passing through it, two pages, almost the same, three pages, you can tell it's starting to work. This morning, just so I can say I tested it, I ran six pages, seven pages, eight pages, I'm not trying more, but I will say it cut eight pages without stopping. If you are like me and normally shred a few things a day, and want the security of Class 4, confetti size shred, you'll be happy with this unit. Given the chance to purchase again, I'd choose this unit, especially after seeing how it handles six pages.

I was looking for a good shredder. I found this one claiming it shredded paper to micro-cut size, and I gave it a try. It's AMAZING! I am very careful with all the paperwork that has personal information and this machine rocks. I am attaching a picture of the size of the final result- all the shreds are very small, and the blue pieces in the picture was a debit card, which got completely destroyed! It's quiet, very compact, the size is perfect. Worth every penny, very happy with this purchase.

Not bad. Not bad at all. I wanted a shredded that I felt shredded things so small it would be impossible to put back together. This shredder fills this order and delivers. It takes a single sheet of paper and shreds it in over 1000 tiny pieces.

I've heard of paper shredders catching fire but if you don't let it ever heat and lubricate the blades every time you empty the bin, you shouldn't have any problem with it. I had 5 years worth of mail I wanted to shred and this thing por formed marvelously. Approximately 4 bins will fill up a 13 gallon tall kitchen garbage bag.

For safety reasons when you lift the shredder from the bin it shuts down. Great in case one forgets to turn it off when cleaning the bin.
The slot where the paper goes is wide enough for paper, but not for adult fingers. Please be careful around children although the machine may not turn on for anything smaller than 1 inch or so. Keep in mind accidents can happen.

Worry not about staples this thing will take care of that no problem. My only issue is you can only shred 6 standard pages at a time. Keep in mind the thicker the page is the less you will have to load into the shredder. Other than that the 6 page limit is not a big deal for home use.

To keep the shredder running smoothly I recommend you buy some paper shredder lubricant. It's not expensive and your shredder will last a long time. Use it everytime you empty the bin.

For the price I'd buy this shredder again.

Good shredder. If it fits, it shreds. If it gets stuck, put it in reverse and smack the side of the shredder head. It will reverse the object back out. If it ever gets stuck shredding small stuff, take the cover off the bottom of the shredder head held on by two screws. Shake the head until the pieces fall out of that slot. Or shoot compressed air in there. Then run the machine in reverse for 30 seconds. This will warm the motor. I have shredded every Amazon box in small strips, appliance boxes, newspapers, mail, cereal box, pizza box, packaging box, and paper I've touched since owning it. I feed it to my red wrigglers once a month with table scraps and crushed shells. I have literally shredded entire pallets worth of cardboard through this thing. I shred a 40 gallon garbage bag a week in cardboard and random paper. Lube the blades with vegetable oil while running the machine in reverse, not shredder oil and don't use lubricant sheets. Otherwise if you use it for compost, the shredder oil is machine oil and you've contaminated your supply. Thicker pieces will shred but they will shred into strips. So keep in mind just because it fits, your thickness may exceed optimal security concerns. I shredded every single thing I could get my hands on. It does white paper fantastic, soda boxes pretty well, and everything is later digested by these worms. I found myself shredding things put out in the front of my library and they ate that too. Magazines, glossy paper, etc. So for my use? This is perfect. Short run time, but worth it. I got it during a lightning deal for $35. And I'd say for a person looking to become a vermpicoster, this is decent. If you have an Amazon prime account and order as much as I do, you will have a garage full of food for worms and carbon for compost in no time. I have something close to six cubic yards of shredded cardboard in huge bags, in refrigerator boxes, and in the worm bins. They can't get enough. Cool thing about this? Amazon can't switch to plastic packing because it would kill the earth and that means an unlimited supply for you. Get it.

I've been using this lightly (home office) for a few months and so far it's worked great! It goes through 6-8 sheets with no issues at all. Handles small staples without issue so there isn't a need to remove them first. I've put in credit cards without issue. I think the confetti left behind is small enough to protect personal or sensitive information. I've shredded several 35 gallon trash bags full of old documentation and it's still performing very well. I like the heat shut off protection and its ability to back out jams. It got pretty jammed once because a piece of plastic I didn't notice junked up the works. It was more the adhesive on the plastic than the plastic itself. I cleaned it up and it's running strong again. It isn't something that should've been shredded in the first place so I didn't see it as a negative. For the heck of it I tried putting through a CD/DVD and it would only go in about 2" before getting stuck and having to reverse out. Obviously it was useless after that but wouldn't chew through the whole thing. Anything else I've put through so far it's performed great. I also like the window view of the basket and I feel like it's big enough I'm not constantly bothered with emptying it out. It also fits well and quality plastic for its purpose.

The shredder arrived very well packaged. The shredding unit is wrapped in a plastic bag that is well coated in machine oil. It is about the size of a small trash can with a thing on top of it (which it is.)

The shredding unit seems very sturdy - the bin was good except for the fact that it may have (as it did with my unit) very sharp edges due to a poor molding job during manufacture. This paired up with very slipper hands from the oil coating resulted in the bin taking a tiny chunk out of my finger when first fitting the shredder onto it. Ouch. I filed down the edges to avoid future attacks on my fingers. Amazon may want to check on if their manufacturer can round out the edges on future models.

The shredding capability of the unit seems perfect for junk mail and clearing out of documents that pile up during the year. I’ve ran through stacks of 7 pages at once with no problems. I’ve used it for about a half hour session of office document cleanup and have had no overheating issues. The bin window is good for seeing how much before you need to empty it out.

Very happy with this purchase - no stars docked for the finger!

This might handle 6 sheets of tissue paper but 4 is about the max for regular 20lb paper. You will need to open many of the envelopes of junk mail before feeding this thing or it will jam. And, while it is easy to remove most jams, there is a guard over the mouth that makes it very difficult to remove jams that are close to being finished. It also starts to smell like it's going to catch fire after a while.

Beyond the low capacity and the other little problems, this shredder is a little beast. The resulting confetti would be nearly impossible to reassemble. It is fine for light use in the home but you will have to prepare most of its meals. I was a little frustrated initially, but now that it has me trained we are getting along fine.

For the price, and for the resulting carnage of its output, I don't think you could do much better.

I finally broke down and got a shredder, after much research. Since I am single, I kept putting this off, thinking I couldn't justify the substantial purchase for just myself. I thought that I didnt generate enough papers to need one. I was using a black sharpie and 'shred scissors', composting all my sensitive papers, after blacking out, tearing and cutting bills, reciepts and shipping information... and other materials.

I noticed the past few years though , all the papers (pge, cel phone bills, ads, catalouges, credit card statements, bank statements, shipping labels reciepts ) have started (1) printing much smaller, (2) putting the full name, address, account, email, phone number, and other numbers multiples times, front and back, top and bottom, rather than just in one place. (3) bills, receipts and shipping labels have bar codes and other magnetic incripted information all over in little boxes and bars, with purchase information, history, etc.

itI used to be easy to black or white-out 1 name, and perhaps an account number. Now it is like a detective job to find all the information printed all over practically needing a magnafyimg glass. As I get older my eye sight is not as good, and I worry I will miss some critical information.

I noticed that I was still saving too much paper, trying to re-use for scratch paper, because the bills, reciepts, shipping labels, now have so much printed personal information, account numbers, phone, address, email, etc., and even little electronic bar codes all over - with so much information. It was just becoming too much work, print is getting smaller, even on ads, so much information is on these sheets, fromt and back, and even envelopes.

I am SO happy I finally got the micro cut confetti shredder that goes through staples (incase I forget to take one out), goes through discs and credit cards, so it tackles all the ads that are very thick, since my aged hands are getting tired of ripping and cutting. I dont waste time now, and worry that I missed some tiny print, barcode, acount number, on a back or bottom of all the bills and shipping info.

This little shredder is wonderful. I got rid of stacks of papers, cleaned out files, bank statements, credit card bills, etc., without worrying. It shreds so tiny no one would ever be able to get any info. I noticed that it gets hot quickly, so I give it a rest, then do more later. The teeth are all metal, and really work hard. I use two or theee sheets at a time, and tear them in half, because I notice the edges get clogged easily.

I turn it to reverse after it is done, so it clears the teeth. The top part is awesome and very heavy, as it will not work unless it is properly fitted on the bin, and in the right direction.

I have only had it a few days, but I am so glad I got it. It has already earned its price tag in ease, time saving, efficiency, and peace of mind. I can now discard bills and ads as they come in, it saves my fragile hands that hurt when I do too much cutting and ripping of these bills and such. I could only do them intermittently, and only a few at a time. No more saving them up, useimg the sharpie and scissors, hoping I didn't miss something. The time it saves is priceless. The peace of mind is also priceless. I feel like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders.

I now have no problem discarding because I am no longer worried about sensitive information getting in the wrong hands.

Now we just have to worry about the internet, again, since out pr privacy is not a federal priority any longer. I have gotten more spam email this month than i the last 10 years!

One step forward, two steps back!

Shredded 14 32-gallon bagsful of old documents intermittently over a 4-day period. When it over-heated, it simply stopped and would rest until it cooled down sufficiently to resume. Seemed to prefer 2-4 pieces of paper at one time; I rarely sent more thru the shredder. The pre-oiled sheets that can be purchased to keep the machine lubricated were very handy and intermittent oiling is necessary but, lacking those, a couple sheets ,oistened with olive oil did the trick.

This paper shredder will do well in most homes. I have an enormous amount of recycling as my wife wants everything shredded and recycled. This little monster was laughed at when taken out of the box. I've only had large shredders. It has proven itself to be the monster we need. It shreds fast and easy. It hasn't jammed yet and it's used everyday. We shredded at least 15,000 pages in just a few months. It's the paper eating monster you need to have in your home. Even give him a name, my daughter named him Hank. Hank gets the job done and you won't find this monster under your kids bed even though I would love for him to eat all the stuff under her bed!

Helect H1001 Standard Function Desktop Calculator

This calculator was exactly what I was looking for for my home office. Using the calculator on my phone was endlessly frustrating, and I only need to do the four basic functions. I was looking for an inexpensive desk top calculator that would be easy to use, easy to see the display, and of good quality. This product seems to have answered all of these simple requirements, although the display is not back-lit, so in poor light you will have difficulty seeing the numbers.

It wouldn't seem like there's much to a calculator, but if you've ever used one with bad buttons or a dim display you'll appreciate this one.

It's sturdy, looks good, with big buttons/keys. Those keys are perfect with just the right amount of feedback and spacing. The replaceable AA battery is a great touch, since a lot of similar calculators either rely solely on solar or require some obscure watch battery you'll never remember to buy.

I had an old TI desktop calculator that lasted 33+ years (amazing). I needed a replacement and did not want to spend a fortune and this one was a great replacement. It is much lighter than my old calculator and its buttons that are easy to push and very visible, works on solar (you can add a battery as well, if needed - it only needs a single AAA battery), and it is still a great size for a desktop calculator. I highly recommend it.

I bought this calculator to take with me to auction school. I was wanting a cheap alternative to the daily calculator I use in my office. Turns out this is a much better calculator than what I was expecting. In fact, this is my new daily calculator. Love this thing. Perfect size. Buttons feels balanced and responsive and I like the angle that it sits when I have it in front of me. No more glare from the overhead lights. Thinking about ordering another for the shop floor. My old calculator gave out after a few decades of use and I was forced to get a new one. I was expecting to have the same quality as before but it wasn't so simple as that. I ordered a couple calculators on Amazon and neither were good. They both didn't have the "back space" button. That was awful. They also didn't have the "double zero" button which anyone can live without. (Funny how you take things for granted until they aren't there.) So they went to the junk drawer for giving away. When it comes to electronics purchases we tend to trust well-known brands. I recently bought a good-looking compact desktop unit from a large--usually dependable--firm. The thing promptly went insane, adding instead of subtracting, multiplying everything twice, dividing my figures by Pi (3.14)...: you get the idea. This Helect Standard is the replacement and it works just swell. I like the big buttons that help compensate for ageing eyesight. The black colour blends in tastefully with my desktop, whilst two green keys make it possible to quickly locate the machine when wanted--well priced and highly recommended!

Quick, imagine the most generic calculator you can. This is it. The product does its job and, really, at this price, what else could you want?

it's a simple old-fashioned desk calculator., just as advertised. It has the usual extra buttons besides the ten digits and four basic operations, like the Memory buttons and the percentage (%) button, but no bells and whistles. This is NOT a scientific calculator. For power, it has a slot for a single AA battery and a solar panel. I haven't even bought batteries yet because the solar power works well in the day and I don't need it at night.

The buttons feel nice to press, it looks good, the screen has big numbers and is easy to see. I kind of hoped it would be a bit smaller, but this size is fine, too. Shipping was fast and the product was well protected with bubble wrap. So overall, zero complaints.

Just received this two weeks ago and so far this calculator is great. The best part I love about this product is the dialpad, it feels very good on your hand and it enters the number correctly, which is much better than the last calculator that I own. The screen is pretty big and also shows the number clearly. The size is just right for me to leave it on my desk all the time. I haven't had the need to use battery at all, just relying on the solar power. I love it

I purchased this calculator for my 96 year old father. He loves it! The keys are large enough for his large and slightly shaky fingers to hit correctly and the display is large enough for him to see. I was waiting to make sure he liked it as I would have taken it and tried again for him. Since he is so happy with it, I plan to buy another one for myself! A great calculator, just as described!

I was looking for a calculator with bigger numbers/squares (easier to press) and that had some style to it because I like cute things :)
This calculator is very nice. It was larger than I expected so at first it felt weird in my desk but now I'm getting used to it (I was using a very small one so in comparison it is much larger). It feels kind of bulky but it is cute, nice color, big buttons and I love the 'delete' feature when I type a number by mistake I don't have to erase the whole thing, just that one number. I didn't know how handy this button is.
Also, it has the solar panel but since my office doesn't have a direct light, I ended up adding a battery on the back.

Used the calculator a lot today and it felt great!

Brother Wireless High-Speed Desktop Document Scanner, ADS-2700W, Touchscreen LCD, Duplex Scanning

Summary:
I have been using the Brother ADS2700W Wireless scanner for several days -- using it fairly heavily. Works great mostly. Needed a work around for high count pages. PC software name might be confusing for some folks.

How used:
I used the Ethernet connection to the device. I installed the brother PC software on my Windows 10 laptop that connects wirelessly to the network.

Experience:
You have to start the Brother PC software on your PC for it to write directly to the PC. It seems to always write to the documents folder and there does not seem to be a way to change the folder it writes to.

The Brother PC software is a little spartan and weirdly named. Within the Brother ADS-2700W folder on your PC is a program called "Remote Setup". Starting Remote Setup brings up a window named "Search Devices". If you have connected your PC and the scanner, it connects shows Online and Ready.

Then you initiate the scan from the scanner. Choose PC and a PDF is created in the PC Documents folder.

It scans fast and well. I have had a couple of times when I have had to re-scan, but mostly it just works.

The exception to this experience was in larger documents -- say 15+ pages double sided. These larger documents failed consistently to scan directly to my PC. When I attempted to scan the same document to a memory stick, it worked fine. That led me to conclude that larger page counts would have to be done using the USB drive (potentially other options would work too).

Scans render nicely. At 300 DPI the PDFs can get fairly big, but the detail is very good.

I would recommend this scanner especially for those people that tend to scan less than 10 pages at a time and that are also pretty good with technology generally.

This is my second purchase of a Brother scanner. Wanted to upgrade my ADS 2200 (which I liked) - Ambit was ok, but didn't work with Windows 10. This ADS2700 machine is a wonder. I accomplished a month of scanning in a few hours. The Paperport software is still iffy, but the Brother software works well. I can scan directly from the ADS2700 color screen and move the documents into the right folders en masse later. Worth the workaround for fast, reliable scanning. Recommend highly!

Excellent scanner. Easy to set-up. I am a "paperwork hoarder" and tend to keep everything because you never know when you will need it. This scanner allows me to scan the documents and save them electronically so I always have them.

This is especially helpful if you have children or have a serious chronic illness or someone in the family has one. I scan all of the paperwork I receive from my insurance company, doctors, etc... Having electronic copies helps to be able to sort and tag items. I had to file an appeal with my dental insurance recently and had all of the documents I needed at my fingertips because they were scanned and filed.

The scanner has not jammed yet and works very, very well. The wireless feature is great. This allows me to place it in a convenient spot without needing USB or ethernet cables.

This Brother ADS2700W was purchased to replace a Fujitsu document scanner. It is less than 1/2 of the price of a comparable Fujitsu replacement. We have multiple ADS 2000 in service for 3+ years and going strong; so hopefully this unit will also have good longevity. The ADS2700W is fast, quiet, replete with connectivity - USB or networked (wired/wireless).

My mother gave me a project of scanning her old pictures (there's a l o t). I had purchased and returned a few scanners before getting this one. It doesn't have to be connected to a computer, which makes doing the project anywhere nice! I did, however, download the drivers onto my computer.

First, I sorted the pictures by size - to reduce the chance of one going in crooked. When I had a stack of about 50 or less, I simply put them in the feeder and hit the start button. One after the other fed through. It took me a 1/2 hour to get through a box. NICE!!!

The second phase was to name the pictures. I took the flash drive and plugged it into my laptop. Pulled up the pictures and with their software was able to add tags and comments about the pictures. Then all I have to do is type in a name in the "search" box and any picture with that name attached shows up. Then I could give a copy of the pictures to that person, while still keeping my pictures intact.

EASY.

Scans to jpeg, PDF, etc. Allows you to set it to the dpi you wish. It also will scan your documents and with the OCR software allow you to search for documents. My next project will be scanning all the docs in my file cabinet and tossing/shredding those! Yipee!

So quick and easy to set up. The only drawback is you need to go the their website and download a program which allows you to scan and rename to a specific file instead of scanning to a single location and then having to rename and move to a new location. It would be better if the company included the instructions to do this.
Takes up a small amount of room on the desk

I bought this one to replace a Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 for wireless convenience and because I got tired of the software. To be sure, Fujitsu still has the best hardware and the fastest scanning speeds. Fujitsu’s great shortcoming is the buggy software (which they wrote themselves) and the non-existent technical support. After I bought a new computer, I simply could no longer set up the Fujitsu because it didn’t let me specify a directory for storing the scanned files. Yup, you heard that right, the directory path was a dead field that didn’t take inputs. So there goes the great hardware because of the scrappy software.

This Brother model doesn’t have the speed and the sturdiness of the Fujitsu, but it is cheaper (less than half the price), smaller (good), lighter (good), wireless (very good), allows me to download Nuance PaperPort for free, and it installed easily without any issues. Scan is a little slower than the Fujitsu but the scan quality is excellent. This is great value for the money for a home office or a small business. I am not sure it will last long at high volume though.

Works like a charm. As far as space-saving, that's kind of a joke. Once, it's opened-up to use it takes the normal amount of room you'd expect from a small printer or dedicated fax. And not one person here using it ever folds it back up when they're done with it ...

This is a great scanner. There are so many easy to use options. Set was very easy to do and having the wireless capacity makes it so convenient. I set up all the family computers with ease. Files are clear, even on the page....replaced a neat scanner that stopped working unless I paid to use their cloud- This scanner requires no cloud....works with Mac Sierra fine.

This unit is a dream come true! I scan and email a LOT of documents for my business, and have always had issues with the scanners jamming on multi-function printers. I finally decided I'd had enough and looked for a pure scanner. I priced this one based on specs and reviews, and could not be happier. I never imagined a scanner, outside of perhaps an "industrial" type, could scan so fast, and so smoothly. It's also a nice small size, and very quiet. I would recommend this to ANYONE who scans documents often. It is amazing!

HP ENVY Photo 7855 All in One Photo Printer with Wireless Printing, HP Instant Ink & Amazon Dash Replenishment ready (K7R96A)

What counts as 'easy to set up' clearly is quite person-specific. Knowing that I don't find printer set-up easy or intuitive--I truly am a Newtonian person trying to get by in this digital world--I asked a tech-savvy engineer friend to help me set the thing up. He has set up a lot of printers, done a lot of complicated hardware modification, etc. Yet it took quite a while to get the printer set up and working. My friend thought that some of the directions, and some of the choices, were less than straightforward. Me, I found it pretty frustrating.

The good news is that the printer DOES work. It does a good job copying and printing monochrome documents, which I principally what I need it to do. It is easy enough to print photos with this printer, but the results are less than fabulous. I take lots of pictures of vegetation, more specifically various cactus and succulents in situ in my garden, in friends' gardens, in botanical gardens, etc. The photos that this printer produced were a bit washed out; prints tended to look over-exposed, though I know that the photos themselves are not. And the prints are not as crisp as the ones produced by our old Canon. It is also clear that this thing is something of an ink monster.

This is a fairly inexpensive printer. It's thus probably unrealistic to hope it to be able to produce high (or even medium-high) quality prints. Still....

I would rate this as a low 4/high 3.

TL;DR: Overall this is a solid printer. It's easy to set up, the print quality is good (nothing special, though), and the features it has available are plentiful and fairly user friendly. My only gripes are the photo paper tray gliding too freely, no rear paper guide, slow print speed and the low page prints yield of the tri-color cartridge.

I've been using HP Photosmart printers at home for a fairly long time. So, when my C6280 gave out after 10 years I didn't really have any issues going with another HP. The big things that I needed was a printer that was connected to the home network so I could print from all the family devices since the C6280 was a shared printer, an auto document feeder for large scans/copies and had a dedicated photo paper tray to support small scale photo printing without having to reconfigure the main try. This printer does all of this and way more.

This printer gets a big thumbs up for connectivity.

My experience setting it up was really easy. Plugged it into the wall, went to the website from my phone and it was up and running in about 10-15 minutes. Connected all my other devices just as easily in about 3-5 minutes each. The only device I had an issue with was an older Lumia 2520 on Windows RT. This device could not run the installer from the website, which was no surprise to me, due to the ARM based OS. However, I got the printer to talk to the Lumia by installing a generic HP Photosmart PCL3 Class driver which was found on the device already. There are some really neat connected and cloud features that his printer has that I'm pretty excited to try out in the coming weeks.

Print quality is pretty good for an at home printer. Some of the photos I've printed left a little to be desired in quality. Some of the darker photos looked a little magenta saturated, and some of the lighter ones looked a little washed out. But, I work in a print shop with equipment magnitudes more expensive, so I figure I'm probably being a little picky.

The scans/copies I've made so far look pretty good, and getting them from what ever device you want is really easy using the HP app. I really like being able to plop a stack of papers into the ADF (like I can at work) and letting them go. Haven't had a jam yet.

Input trays are located just under the output tray. There's a tray dedicated for photo paper (4x5, 4x6, and 5x7) just above the main tray for paper and envelopes up to legal size (8.5"x14"). Easy to get to and load. Loading papers larger than A4 requires you to drop down the front of the paper tray, which is done by releasing a lever. The first of two complaints here is that there is no rear guide for either tray. Paper just sits loosely in the tray. I've had the printer tell my a few times that paper wasn't loaded because the paper had shifted when I reset the tray. Especially in the photo paper tray. Which leads me to complaint number two, I sometimes have to go fishing for the photo paper tray. It glides easily, but so freely that it sometimes doesn't come out with the main tray. It's a minor annoyance.

Print speed was about the same as the C6280 that I am replacing. To be honest, that's a little disappointing considering the difference in age of the two printers. It's by no means "too slow", but not really fast either. The big difference here for me was that the cure time of the ink on this machine was much better. Glossy photos are dry when they come off the machine. The C6280 had a tendency to leave some wet ink on glossy photos with heavy coverage.

This printer even has fax capability. A bonus for sure, but one I probably will never use.

Finally, I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of the tri-color cartridge since you have to replace it once you run out of one of the three colors HP managed to magically cram in that tiny cartridge since the yield seems fairly small (~165 sheets color for the regular, and ~415 for the XL). I'm finding that dedicated CMYK cartridges in smaller printers with the features this one has is becoming harder to find out side of more expensive printers like the Epson Ecotanks. HP, I'd love to see an ENVY Photo/Photosmart printer with separate color cartridges if it meant getting more prints per cartridge and good quality. But, considering how much we actually print in our house, it shouldn't be a huge deal for us. Time will tell.

I absolutely love this machine and the Instant Ink is such a great deal! I have a 3 month free trial with the 9.99 a month plan and so far I've been sent 3 shipments of ink, all before I ran out so I had the cartridges when I needed them. It prints clear photos, slightly dark so I edit on my phone before printing. The app is super helpful and easy to use, such a great buy!! It's a little bigger than I thought it would be, but not by much. Sits right on my table in the living room. Easy to fill paper and change out the ink cartridges. The only problem I have is sometimes I can't connect to the printer but I think that's because my wifi sucks and constantly goes in and out. But other than that I'm super happy with this product.

I upgraded to this printer, very easy setup and very nice prints. Printing photos from our phones is a very nice option.

HP's instant ink is a very nice feature and not breaking the bank. The printer communicates with HP and lets HP know when ink is running low. Ink is automatically sent. I have received my 1st shipment of ink already. VERY NICE

If you consider buying this printing and signing up for Instant Ink I highly suggest not buying additional ink at time of purchase. I did and now have extra ink no biggie but I could have saved money.

All in all very good product and great ink service.

I expected set up to be somewhat difficult, but it was very easy. I used the HP Smart app for Wi-Fi set up and it was flawless. Printer set-up was also easy; instructions were clear. Print and photo quality are excellent . I love the ADF and two paper trays- one for letter and one for photo paper. An extender automatically pops out when printing! I thought the price was fair when compared to other printers. Only criticism is that set up cartridges are included; not full size.

Love it so much!!!!!!!!! Color is so vivid. Scans, prints and faxes great. Took some time to set it up wirelessly but I had to call HP for the help. The book is not very informational.

I am pleased with this printer. I haven’t printed any photos yet but printed some recipes and etc. Items printed look very good so far. My only complaint is that the printer does not always give you the option of whether you want to print in color or in black and white. I definately wish HP would fix this so that option is always available each time you try to print. (There may be an advanced setting somewhere I haven’t found yet?). Also, I wish they had something to keep the printer paper pushed to the front of tray because sometimes paper slides back where it can’t be reached and printer thinks it is out of paper so I have to push it up. I’ve found it prints better if you wake it from sleep mode first.

I've had this printer for less than a month and ...so far so good! My configuration is: computer hardwired to the router; printer connected to router by Wi-Fi. Initial set up was easy. I used the printer WI-Fi wizard to connect printer to Wi-Fi. Initially the printer periodically lost the Wi-Fi connection and I used the Wi-Fi wizard to reestablish connection and it always seemed to loose the WI-FY connection when trying to download a software update. I manually entered the Wy-Fi password when reestablishing the connection and ran the HP "Print and Scan Doctor" that fixed a few problems. Not sure which of these fixed my Wy-Fi issues..but since then the Wi-Fi connection has been stable and the printer software update downloaded and installed successfully. The only of the issue I had was initially not being able to "scan to computer" The printer error message was that the computer needed additional software. However, that was not the case. I learned that you need to enable that scan function by clicking on the HP ENVY Printer assistant icon on your desktop, select "Scan" and then select "manage scan to computer" to activate this function.

After reading about problems with envelope printing on some of the newer HP printers and after returning the HP 6978 All-In-One that had the same issue, I am pleased so far with this HP Envy Photo 7855 All-In-One. It allows me to print envelopes with a .25" left margin which is best for business. It scans well and prints regular documents fast enough. I give it 4 stars because it is more of a hassle to print on an envelope involving opening the enclosed paper tray and having to take out the main paper and then inserting an envelope in the middle (says it can load 5 at a time, but I have not tried yet). It takes a couple steps more than older printers. With older printers and all-in-ones all I had to do was put the envelope on top of the regular paper and print. The other annoying feature is when you print anything this extended flap comes out from the contraption that your printed paper or envelope will rest on and it does not automatically recede that I have been able to discover, thus you have to push it back in or risk breaking it if you hit it when moving around the printer. Another annoying feature is that a box comes up on the monitor asking you what you want to do each time you turn it on or restart the computer, which I think may have something to do with the fact that it has a USB and smart card slot that you can open up to print or download photos and other. I have not researched how to disable this yet, may have to go into the config file or registry to disable. I have no intention of using it for off loading photos or printing directly from a smart card or USB. Seems to me this feature should not activate unless you have a card or USB inserted.

The best thing, however, is it takes one tri-color cartridge and 1 black cartridge like older printers! No more hassling with cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges...so happy about this!! About time HP went retro!

Time will tell as I've only had it for 2 hours, but set-up and connecting to wi-fi was a breeze, and I was able to print and scan immediately. Basic document print quality is very good, prints quickly and not too noisy. I've used the app (installed on smartphone) only briefly but it seems to work well and makes using the printer easier. I like that it's smaller and more versatile than the old HP all-in-one it replaces. Looks nice and sleek in all-black. HP ENVY Photo 7855 All in One Photo Printer with Wireless Printing, Instant Ink ready (K7R96A)So far so good.
