SEEDLIP Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirits (Garden 108)

SEEDLIP Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirits (Garden 108)

As someone who can't drink due to an alcohol allergy this is a godsend! When I make virgin cocktails with this it has a complex adult (not sweet) taste. I think a lot of people who can't drink will really appreciate this especially when the only virgin options are usually super sugary lemonades/soda etc. The bottle is pricey but so are nicer spirits so I don't mind, although I do hope more bars/restaurants will stock this as it's the kind of thing I'd love to order while out.
It seems like people are upset this doesn't taste exactly like gin, but I think you need to have an open mind, it's a unique product with a unique taste and mixed with tonic waters etc. it really tastes amazing.
If you can handle alcohol I think you'd be more likely to brush this product aside as it's expensive and not exactly a replacement for gin, but if you're someone who has to stay away from alcohol (or is really motivated to cut back) let me tell you it's worth it!

If you are expecting this to have the bite of alcohol, you will be disappointed. It seems that the reason this product is getting bad reviews is because it is not being used the correct way. I feel they are expecting it to takes like vodka, for example, without the alcohol which is not correct. It needs to be used as a base and build the flavors on top of it. You cannot simple mix it with a spirit and expect a flavorful drink. It takes some knowledge of flavors and pairings to male this product shine.

This is a very interesting product. It gives the taste of alcohol (without the bite) however it is alcohol free. This is currently the only company worldwide that produces a product like this distilling herbs and then adding water so it gives a mocktail a “grown up” taste without the alcohol. This specific bottle has a strong cardamon scent and flavor which is much to my liking.

It is not very appealing by itself but does pair well with flavored carbonated sodas and juices. I shook 3oz of this with 0.5 rhubarb syrup and 0.25oz lemon juice with ice then topped off with grapefruit soda. It was a big hit! I think adding some basil would really elevate it.

I'm giving this 5 stars because Garden was a revelation. It is so nice to have a such a sophisticated option for nonalcoholic drinks, and if only one of them could be a winner, I'm glad it's Garden. I don't even see the point of Spice. I feel like I paid $40 for a bottle of tap water in which someone once floated a clove and some allspice before straining it into a fancy bottle.

My niece is pregnant but loves cocktails. I'm a borderline Diabetic who takes a number of medications which react badly with most alcohol. This delightful beverage was described as "gin adjacent", and that seems very accurate to me. Mixed with a little tonic water or sparkling water, my niece and I can enjoy cocktails with our spouses and not worry about alcohol. Very happy and excited to try the other flavors!

Tried this tonight with some club soda and really liked it! It’s a really good substitute if you like an herbal gin-like flavor that’s not sweet. It doesn’t taste exactly like gin, more herbaceous (I think pea shoots are one of the flavors) so don’t expect it to taste exactly like gin!

Feature Product

  • A non-alcoholic spirit bursting with flavour
  • Fresh & Floral
  • Serve with ginger ale, soda, or tonic over ice

Description

A floral blend of hand-picked Peas & homegrown Hay from founder Ben Branson's Farm, with traditional garden herb distillates in celebration of the English countryside. This non-alcoholic spirit is perfect served with ginger ale, tonic or soda water over ice. Seedlip is made from six carefully selected botanicals and spices, sourced from around the world and distilled in copper pot stills. These distillates are then blended together in a unique process to create a complex multidimensional taste profile that can compete with any alcoholic spirit. The liquid is then blended with water, filtered & bottled. Tasting Note: Fresh & floral. Sophisticated top notes of hand-picked peas & Hay and a complex herbal base character of Spearmint, Rosemary & Thyme.

I love a cocktail as much as anyone, but there are times when it doesn't make sense to have alcohol, so I wanted to test this out as an alternative, and I'm happy I did. It's not trying to be a fake gin, or vodka, or anything like that, it's just its own thing, and as with gin and vodka and other spirits, it won't be for everyone. That said, it definitely is for me. The taste is hard to describe, but as others have said, it definitely tastes like a "grown-up" drink. I like it mixed with tonic water and a little lime. That's the only way I've had it so far, but I plan to try it with other things. Perhaps I'll come back and update this review when I do. For now, though, even just with tonic, I'm giving it a thumbs up!

Seedlip is amazing. The Garden flavor perfectly fools you when mixed with soda water or tonic that there is a nice floral gin in the glass. I've been trying to cut my alcohol intake and this is now my go-to after work drink - refreshing, lovely. I have bought 4 bottles so far.

I love both this one and the herbal one I got. They both taste great and add an extra flavor to mocktails that makes them taste way better. I especially like Negroni and a dirty martini. I will buy these again. They've been great while I've not been able to have Whiskey and Wine.

I was very eager to try this, finding out about it through an article in the NYT. I wasn't sure what to expect given the negative reviews here. I don't drink so I am always looking for interesting mocktail ingredients and have made my own shrub syrups to that end.
I tried Spice. Tasting it out of the bottle strait there wasn't much flavor (But I had a cold at the time so that probably affected it.) I made a ginger ale cocktail with 2oz of Seedlip spice and 6 oz of ginder ale over ice. I taste something subtle with a nice spice profile. And I experience it in the after taste. I woud prefer something more pronounced so will also try it with tonic and plain soda water. Overall its a nice addition to my selection of items for mocktails and will experiment with it more to adjust to my taste. Plan to pick up Garden as well.

I tried this and thought it was a fun alternative to gin (or even to mix with gin when you want a slightly less boozy gin & tonic). The flavor is very grassy/vegetal but if you're already into botanical gins you might enjoy it. That said, it does NOT taste like gin... so if that's really what you're looking for you probably need to stick to the real thing. I ordered a bottle for myself, put it in the freezer with my gin like an idiot, and came back to a glass explosion. PSA: as this is not made with alcohol, it will freeze...

Scrappy's Bitters - Firewater Tincture, 5 oz

Scrappy's Bitters - Firewater Tincture, 5 oz

I discovered Scrappy's chocolate bitters in a review of bitters... they liked different flavors from different brands. Indeed this is the best chocolate bitters I've tried; others taste kind of odd or artificial. Here's a recipe for a chocolate mojito ... the chocolate is subtle but unmistakable, and the drink is still refreshing:

1.5 oz medium to dark rum, best quality you can
1 oz simple syrup
0.5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
6-8 fresh mint leaves
8 shakes Scrappy's chocolate bitters
5-6 ice cubes
Lime seltzer

Place lemon juice and mint leaves in an old fashioned glass and muddle (crush the leaves to release the mint flavor).
Add the rum, simple syrup, and bitters. Add ice and stir to chill.
Top off glass quickly with the seltzer, to somewhat mix it without making the seltzer flat.

Variation: Crush several fresh raspberries in with the mint

Must agree with the other reviewers so far. Scrappy's orange bitters seem to have the truest flavor amongst the orange bitters I've used. I supplement my old fashioned recipe with this little gem and get rave reviews. Here's my recipe in case you're interested:

2 ounces good quality Bourbon or Rye
Simple or Maple syrup as sweetener to taste
2 shakes from a bottle of angostura bitters
6 shakes from a bottle of Scrappy's orange
Half ounce to an ounce of water
Orange rind

Fill a pint glass or cocktail glass with ice
add the sweetener, bitters, then booze and water
Stir relentlessly to mix and melt some of the ice
Strain into a new glass with (hopefully clear) ice (instructions on this here: http://clear-ice.net/how-to/clear-ice-cubes/)
Rub the orange rind around the rim of the glass, then add to the drink
Serve to gasps of appreciation

Bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas and it was worth every penny. A few drops add a powerful (but not overwhelming) lavender scent and flavor. We use it for our favorite nightcap consisting of 4 oz of chamomile vodka, 2 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of honey, and a few drops of bitters shaken with ice.

If you love G&T's, & don't have this in your bitters arsenal, well you're really missing out. Don't worry about the price, my first one lasted me @ 4 years. And I enjoyed every minute of it. Hope this helps!

Straight chocolate. Wow! The chocolate bitters are my new favorite choice for an old fashioned. I was a little skeptical since you don't see much in the way of chocolate bitters used, but maybe it's time that changes. The chocolate taste isn't too strong if you use it sparingly, and gives cocktails an interesting take that you won't really find anywhere. Overall Scrappy's bitters seem to be right up there with all the other quality bitters. I would certainly recommend the chocolate, but I can't speak to any other flavors from them.

Makes awesome cocktails by adding subtle complexity. Unique flavor, the black lemon smells to me like candied lemon peels. And thank you so much for not adding artificial flavors or colors! I try to take care of my body even when I'm poisoning my liver. Love you scrappy's!

I bought this to make spicy margaritas as our signature wedding drink. They are awesome! They give a nice spicy kick and we bought two more bottles to have on hand for whenever we feel like adding that spicy twist to our drinks. Everyone asked how we made our signature drinks and they really enjoyed them!

I was muddling entire jalapenos to try and make my mules as spicy as I'd like. There is a craft cocktail bar near me that says they use "firewater" in their spicy mule, and with about 20 dashes it's PERFECT (much spicier than most would like though). I found it only and although it's expensive, it has a great flavor and can spice up mules or any other cocktail better than muddling and ending up with seeds/chunks of pepper stuck in your straw.

I fell in love with this Firewater bitters in a blackberry habanero margarita at a nice restaurant. It takes the sweet of the drink, and puts a little fire to it. But start slow because it really is very potent - just a few drops will do. Love it!

The real deal. I bought Sonoma lavendar syrup and could not smell lavendar at all. I am so glad I found scrappys. Plan to order more maybe they have a bigger bottle. Still trying to figure out how much to use for a cocktail but very pleased. Smells and taste great. I add it to my apple martini

Bittermen's, Xocolatl Mole Bitters, 4 fl oz

Bittermen's, Xocolatl Mole Bitters, 4 fl oz

This is specifically for the Xocolatl Mole bitters as Amazon seems to have lumped all the reviews together. Tasted in person at a bitters bar at Oxbow Market in Napa and was excited to find easily on Amazon. A few drops in any tequila drink makes me happy - just a subtle hint of chocolate and heat. As I often use bitter/sour mixers less is more, or else it pushes the drink way too bitter. Will definitely buy again if I ever finish the bottle I have - a little goes a long way!

I have used these mole bitters in both bourbon drinks & tequila drinks, and I must say: YUM!! These bitters really Dinah off the drinks with a cohesive flavor. Kudos!!

I like the product, However, note that though the container is larger than many bitters, it is not strong like other brands are. I had to use around twice what I would have expected to actually perceive it in the drink.

Continuing to find uses for these bitters. They add some very interesting flavors to many cocktails. I have added them to my regular rotation, usually in combination with other bitters.

Bought this to make Death & Co's Conference cocktail and have also used it in Old Fashioneds and have been very pleased. Would recommend to anyone who loves experimenting with cocktails

Delicious bitters. Really completes my Oaxacan Old Fashioneds. Wish it came in a smaller quantity for a more affordable price. It'll be years before I have to buy another one of these.

The mole flavor is so rich and lingering. It is balanced perfectly with its bitter quality. I cannot imagine drinking a tiki, slide, cocoa, or a runner without a splash of this in it. Amazing.

Added some to Zacapa rum on the rocks for a change of pace.

I love chocolate bitters in a Manhattan. The full flavor of these bitters balances nicely with the richness of Carpano Antica--not everything does and you need a Rye with some kick to bring it all together.

I know know that a Dash of Bitters is 1/5 a Tsp and half Mole and half Orange Bitters equals a great cocktail.

Bittermens Hellfire Habanero Shrub Cocktail Bitters – 4 oz

Bittermens Hellfire Habanero Shrub Cocktail Bitters – 4 oz

A wonderful flavor-filled bitters. It appears to be made for beach drinks with rum, but I love using it in my Manhattans. I've also added it to apples sauteed in butter and brown sugar. Yum.

This is just what I have been looking for to create great cocktails with a nice afterglow. You can easily vary the burn to your level of please and it does not distort the task of a drink. One of my favorites for Hellfire: Bullet Rye + fresh apple cider and hellfire to task. Yum. I am not a vodka person, but if I drank Margaritas, I would be adding some hellfire.

This stuff makes the best Mango Habanero Margaritas! Adds a nice spice to the drink and u can adjust level of spiciness by adding more or less drops. This is the same stuff they use at Tommy Bahamas Restaurant for their margarita.

An old fashioned has to contain aromatics, forget cherry or orange flavored stuff. Go with the herbal as per the tradition. This one is full of flavor, but truly compliments the drink. Just perfect....Angostura is done in my book, even if they started it all. Sometimes, you just have to get creative to stay on top!

I bought this for one specific purpose - as an ingredient for a cocktail called "Carter Beats the Devil" . . . and, it works great. It's not quite as prominent of an ingredient as the chili tincture that the restaurant in San Francisco used, but it does the job - just wish it had more punch per drop.

I've used it quite a bit - and, since it is measured in drops, it'll probably last me forever.

I am interested now in trying more of Bittermens bitters . . . glad I bought this one.

  • Not just hot, full of spicy flavor!
  • Revolutionalize your bloody mary
  • Small batch artisan bitters

Description

Shrubs are classically refreshing fruit and vinegar-based syrups that were sweetened and diluted to make a beverage since revolutionary times. Instead of making a berry shrub or an orange shrub, Bitterman's makes a hot pepper shrub that is great when you need just the right amount of heat, with all the flavor.

I wish this had more of a sweet orange profile to it. I was expecting something with heavy orange and vanilla notes, like a creamsicle. To me, whatever bittering agent they used makes it read closer to a traditional orange bitters. Still a good bitters, just not what I was expecting based on the description

Exactly the bitters I needed for a hibiscus-jalapeno margarita recipe I was perfecting! Hot, but with a mellow edge. Didn't burn!

Used this in my Moscow Mules and liked it a lot. I wish it had more heat, but still didn't interfere with the mule taste. Would recommend. A bit more heat would make this even better.

The Tear Dropper is a bit confusing your first time, but these are simply delicious. The aroma hits you right off the bat when you open the bottle. The aromatic hops go wonderfully with grapefruit, and these bitters are awesome in a Sawyer, Mojito, or Daiquiri. It is a strange combination, but it really works. Try these!
