It works much better than I had expected. I have an older WiFi only iPad Mini (1st generation) running ios 9.3.5 that I wanted to use for navigation but as you all know, WiFi only ipads do not have built-in GPS. As soon as my iPad mini connected to the Dual XGPS105A via Bluetooth (which was painless btw), it asked to download the accompanying app. The app is very useful. It tells you how many satellites you are connected to, the satellite numbers, the signal strength, position information, position confidence readouts, and the battery status.
I turned it on in the house because I couldn’t wait but to my surprise I was able to connect to 10+ satellites with ease. Like many other GPS devices, I thought I would have to go outside. With the GPS locked and loaded, I proceeded to test out Google Maps and Waze. Both worked flawlessly. Even my NOAA weather radar map is now location enabled. Awesome.
I have taken it down the road a few times now, about 100 miles total, without issue but I will update this review once I have a longer road trip under my belt. I was really not expecting Google Maps to work because I never seen it mentioned as a supported app in any of the forums or reviews. This thing is golden. I can't wait to try it against other devices, like a newer ipad, windows tablet, android device, and some surveying equipment. I will report back, but so far so good.
I purchased this about 3 weeks ago and I finally got the opportunity to test it out on a solo cross country. I am a student Pilot working on getting all licenses to get into the airlines some day and I very impressed with this product. For its age it still works perfectly and I am using iOS 10.2.1. The accuracy is amazing, up to 5 meters which is roughly 20 feet. As far as the battery life goes, its ideal, fairly average. It is a small device so you can't expect too much. The one draw back I had using it was finding a GPS satellites takes forever sometimes, but hey it's still functional. While I'm starting the engine and getting the weather I'll already have it on ahead of time.
Great GPS Unit. I use it with my iPad Pro 9.7" for a large vehicle map while driving. It is much easier to glance at a large map on the iPad than the smaller screen on my phone while driving. Battery last a long time. I am getting at least 6 to 7 hours out of a charge. I do wish the charging port was a micro-USB and not a mini-USB. It makes for another different charging cable I have to carry. The unit also powers on as soon as I plug in the charging cable. I would prefer that you had to power it on to use it. I often charge it before a trip and don't need it powered on while just charging. These are minor issues. I love the unit and it works great, quick satellite linkup and good solid operation.
This works great under open sky, will track me within a few feet. Varies a bit under tree canopy, but that's acceptable to me. I use this in a little clear dry pouch on my kayak and it works great. Works great on the dash of a car, will actually track the lane I'm in if there is little tree canopy over the road. Also use it mt. biking all the time. Would wear it on top of my helmet until my friends stopped riding with me, now I strap it to the handlebars or backpack and my friends ride with me again:) Definitely got better tracking on the helmet though. Also have tested using it for work, locating soil test pits and other site features. Again, great under open sky, but not as great around buildings & trees. It's definitely not a substitute for a sub-meter asset locating GPS. I would definitely recommend this for its intended purpose. More accurate than my iPhone 5 which is what I wanted.
Purchased this to replace a 30 pin Bad Elf for my iPad 3, used in connection with Foreflight. I loved the Bad Elf but wanted something didn't physically connect to the iPad as it was pretty easy to knock the Bad Elf out of the port, plus wanted the flexibility to use it with other devices.
Pairing was easy (both for iPad and a Note 4 running Lollipop), pretty quick fix from cold start and slightly better accuracy, with a 4M margin of error (the Bad Elf never reported better than 5M) . It comes with a sticky rubberized holder that can lay flat and stay put on any surface. It also has an armband so you can wear it. Took it with me on recent commercial flight, quick acquisition, never lost the fix, although I was sitting in a window seat.
Great unit and options, only drawback compared to the Bad Elf is that it is battery powered and charges via USB, whereas the Bad Elf is powered off of the iPad. 8 hours of battery life, so small inconvenience.

Wow... Does a great job... I have gotten 8 hours out of it before I need to plug it in to recharge and then use it at the same time... I use this unit in conjunction with my iPad Mini in my truck. I set up the iPad on the center console as my navigation aide (Using Waze) and the GPS unit then sits on top of my dash. I have never had an issue with it... Stays connected (bluetooth) without a problem... I have also set this unit up on the center console as well... Since I have a moonroof the unit continues to pick up a signal....
If I am on a 10 hour trip its no big deal to plug the unit into my truck and then have the unit charging while it is connected (bluetooth) to my iPad...
I purchased XGPS 150A to run Navionics boating app for Canada and USA on my iPad Air. I have a Garmin gps on my boat, but the iPad screen is nicer to work on due to the fact it is portable and touch screen. I can move it from one boat to another very simple. The Duel Electronice xgps 150A is small very portable and connects in seconds. It is accurate as any gps out there. Battery lasts 8 hrs continuous use easily and charges very fast on my imuto charger. When not in use one touch button turns it off or on. It come with a rubber mount to set it on dash or whatever so it won’t slide. Just don’t leave it in direct sunlight it will get to hot and shut down like your phone. Also has a wristwatch band to strap t9 your wrist. Although it fits in a pocket and works just fine. I put it in the cabin of the boat and still picks up the satelites very well. I would recommend this unit to add gps to non gps devices.
I bought this GPS receiver for my Overland navigation setup inside my Jeep. This product works in conjunction with my 9.7'' Apple iPad and provides some pin point accurate GPS for whatever app you are using.
Downside: Once I turn on the puck and try connecting to my iPad via BluTooth it generally takes 5 - 10 min to connect. (This could be my new iPads fault though...) Thus 4*
Overall very pleased! Easy to charge up in your vehicle or at home. Very easy controls. (I stuck velcro to the back and it still works great without direct line of site to a satellite.)
I must amend my review -- I thought it had died, not allowing any kind of charge, but I was mistaken. The unit just needed to have the battery be exhausted, which caused a power-cycle to the electronics, and all was well after that. Bumped the rating up by a star; this is a fine unit. It does take a while to lock on to the GPS satellites, but once done, it's good. I use it with the iOS app "Ski Tracks" to keep tabs on my exercise while skiing.
The unit works quite well -- easy to pair, provides good GPS signal to my iPhone. Unfortunately, mine died after 3 years, well outside the warranty period. The battery light just stays a solid red, even after charging overnight.
I am curious about the newer units; maybe they are better.
Fantastic device! No negatives at all, compact in size, comes with charger, power plug adapter, and a silicone base which keeps it in place on dashboard. Just need a case to keep everything together. Bought it to work with my aviation software and works like a charm! NOTE: "WORKS" WITH iMaps & G Maps, but since those two programs do not download a database to iPad, your range is very limited. Problem is not with GPS, issue is with Apple & Google. Found app "GPS Copilot" that DOES download an entire database (you have several options) and it's free. Problem now, I need a bigger iPad. Anyway, connects easily with Bluetooth and tracks well. There's also an iPad app from Dual which gives you complete status (satellites, battery, location, etc.). If you're looking for a portable GPS receiver, this will fill the bill nicely.
