Fintie Slimshell Case for All-New Kindle Paperwhite (10th Generation, 2018 Release) - Premium Lightweight PU Leather Cover with Auto Sleep/Wake for Amazon Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader, Black

Took a chance on this case, since the price was great. I wanted a low profile case that would not add a lot of bulk to me new kindle paperwhite. This case turned out to be a home run. Keeps the total size small and is not very heavy. But it seems tough and well made. The front is very stiff and should provide good protection. The case back fits snug on the kindle so it won't be slipping out or anything. The front cover has a magnet that keeps it shut, which I like a lot. The Kindle wakes when opened now. Very convenient. The surface of the case is non-slick and should help a lot when carrying it. The case looks really well made. I would buy it again without hesitation.

I've owned 7 different Fintie Kindle covers over the years. They are light, well fitting, and inexpensive. Their durability is fine. I've never actually worn one out. But the last one I ordered is five months old and has some wear, so much so that I ordered a backup case last week. I did that because I bought my mother a refurbed Voyage in October this year and because the Voyage has been discontinued, had some real trouble finding a case for it. I didn't want to be without a case for my primary reading device if my Fintie does wear out. I've used two different Fintie cases for two, two and a half years, and they performed well. The place that wears the most is the spine. I've been reading and using my Kindle a lot more this year and I think that's why I've had so much wear already on my last one.

Amazon has been off their game with the release of the Paperwhite 4. There are very few cases on the market for it and although Amazon's brand case was "released" on the same date as the PW 4, the shipping date is Nov. 27. When I preordered the PW, there were no other brand cases available except Amazon's so I reluctantly preordered that one. The unit shipped fine but as I stated, the case was shipping much later. After I realized that, I checked again and Fintie had finally released their case for the PW 4 so I picked that up. Accessories are lacking for the PW 4.

The pictures are of my previous Fintie case on my Voyage (the purple stars) and the new case for my PW4.

Aside from all that, I'm comfortable getting 2.5 years out of use for a $15 case. Recommended.

I love my new tech, but hate getting price-gouged on the accessories when the offerings are initially limited, so this was a welcome alternative to the only three much costly covers that first came out. Everyone who has seen this one has complemented me on it, which surprised me honestly, as I had just been seeking a no-frills solution and not expecting much beyond protection. This one manages to do its job while looking great, a nice bonus. Installation is a simple one-step press of the latest model Kindle (10th gen at this time) into position, and you're good to go. No more accidental power offs while standing your reader on a hard surface, good corner reinforcement in case of accidental drops, and the ever-convenient sleep/wake function on close/open. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic cover at a reasonable price.

New Kindle Gen10 needed a cover/case. That power button on the bottom would press (turn off) when ever I placed it upright, like on the treadmill control panel. So I went back to Finite (which I had on my previous Gen5 Kindle) and this one is very basic. I ordered the understated black one. The kindle fits perfectly, it doesn't add any substantial weight or bulk and the auto on/off by the cover works every time. I haven't dropped it yet so I can't report on it's ruggedness. Corners are completely covered by plastic and the inside is a soft protecting the screen. Best bang for the buck if you ask me.

So far so good. Fits well, no gaps, shuts off when closed and wakes up when open. Some other reviewers complain about bad fit, I would suggest to exchange it, because the one I received just fine.

loved this cover. The paperwhite 10th ed fit like a glove in it. Closing and opening the cover works to turn off / on the reader. The dual color looked great. The Outside feels like leather and the inside is plush and soft. Best of all the price! After reading up on the mediocre reviews of the Amazon fabric and leather covers, I was hoping to find one that is good and less expensive. So happy to find this Fintie cover. It deserves a 5-star rating.

The hard shell case has a very slim profile and feels very good in my hand. Light, yet strong. The front cover folds back easily and is comfortable to hold with one hand while reading. Front and back are textured which makes the case look nicer than you'd expect and gives a good grip. The cover is held closed by a magnet that doubles as a means of putting the Kindle in sleep mode. Both work well. The internal lining is also soft and won't scratch the Kindle or screen. Last, but not least, the price is also good - much less than the Amazon cover and does the same job. I recommend this case for the new Paperwhite.

Doesn’t fit as well as the model for the voyage fits my other kindle, but it’s not as bad as one of the other reviews on here. My kindle feels plenty secure in the case and turns off and on by closing and opening the case.

I have a Fintie case for my tablet that works pretty well. The cover is kind of floppy and does the auto-wake unexpectedly sometimes, but it's stood up well for about 16 months, so I figured I'd try the Paperwhite case. In a kindle case, I want: easel capability, auto-wake feature, and a cover that stays open. Since nothing seems to be perfect, I went with this Fintie one based on my previous experience.

This fits my new paperwhite like a glove. The kindle slides in fairly snugly with a friction fit, no snaps or anything, which makes me think this isn't the case to swap on and off a lot. The cover closes with a decently strong magnet, it doesn't slide around like my tablet's cover. However, the cover does NOT use any of those magnets to stay open. The hinge bit of vinyl(?) is a little stiff right now, I've barely used it, so I have to work a bit to keep the cover open. I assume it will soften up with use.

The new 2018 Paperwhite is fairly new, so I'll keep looking for a case that hits all three parts of my wishlist (and looks nice!) but for now, I'm satisfied with this one. I may even just buy the easel stand Fintie sells, though I don't really like the bottom-hinge design.

UPDATE: I wrote this review before the origami case from Fintie was available, but that's what I really wanted to buy. Now it's available and I plan to get one, but the regular slimshell case has done well these last 3 months, with nearly daily reading (and lots of open/shut/bending back on those days). I was right back in November about the hinge softening up over time - it was really stiff for a few weeks, but now it's almost floppy and definitely stretched out. When shut, the front cover slides around a bit. It still doesn't hold itself open very well, no magnets in the back, but it works fine as an tent-style prop when reading in bed (albeit only on one side).

I haven't removed the case since it was put on, so I don't know how well it stands up to a lot of changing around, but I've never had problems with it falling off or messing with the power button. It's a pretty good little case, but could be better if the hinge didn't stretch out (though the flexibility is good) and if the cover would stay folded back, without having to be held open.

Perfect case. It’s great for the price and has a nice smooth finish. Not cheap feeling at all. It’s very thin and doesn’t add any bulk at all. I don’t think it would help too too much w any drops but it helps prevent any scratches. I definitely would recommend.
