I chose this product because the description said it was a 7200 RPM drive. As you can see by the picture I have uploaded it is only a 5400 RPM drive. I would have gone with another brand had I known this. The drive does work and is silent so I give it 4 stars, I took one away because I was lied to about the speed.
Purchased a refurbished computer with all the latest specs - except for the drive. Came with an old Hitachi HHD from 2012. The HHD worked great, but it was so noisy. Not the something-wrong-with-it clicking or beeping noise. Just a louder-than-normal soft ticking whenever it would read/write - which was quite often. It may have been a normal noise for some drives, but I was not used to it - all of my drives have been quiet - including other Hitachi drives. It was to the point where I would put my computer in sleep mode or shut it down to get some quiet.
Seagate to the rescue. I already had experience with Seagate external harddrives - fast and efficient. So, I purchased this, cloned it, and into the computer. Started it up - smooth, quiet, all the way. The noise is gone and it is so quiet like my old computer used to be. Very happy. Thanks again, Seagate.

I have used 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and now 4TB BarraCuda drives. "ALL" of them are still functioning fine. These are excellent hard drives.
First off to the people who have given bad reviews because they don't know how to read a set of directions... Stop giving reviews because it's not fair to the manufacturer of the products your reviewing because these manufactures shouldn't have to put up with bad reviews just because your to stupid to read the directions that come wirh this drive that tells you what you have to do to get your computer to find the drive and how to set it up. The directions tell you exactly how to go about this and the first thing they tell you that you have to do in order to get this drive to be recognized is down load their disc software and run it before you try to install this drive. Once you download the software and install it the drive will be recognized and act like any other drive. It's very simple to do this so don't let these people cloud your judgement on whether or not to purchase this drive. If you can't afford an ssd or if you need alot of storage space and don't want a drive that is to slow or one that Wil cause lag whike playing your games the. Buy this awesome drive right now. This is an awesome drive! Quiet and faster than any other mechanical drive I have ever installed for other people or personally owned. The other great part about this drive is the capacity of it. I cloned one of my other drives and so I already have 6tb on it and it didn't slow it down 1 bit. It's about as fast as your going to get without buying an ssd. What I do is I run a 1tb Samsung 860 Evo ssd and I install win 10 on this drive with all of the drivers and updates and anti-virus software and motherboard and gpu software and I save everything else to my 8tb barracuda pro and I don't have any lag In any of my games which are mostly racing and first person shooters and my computer boots up very very fast so anyway ya I recommend this to anyone needing a sizeable amount of storage space or just for someone who wants a good solid dependable quick and quiet hard drive.

Excellent drive! Can’t even hear it over my near silent case and cpu fans. This will almost certainly be the last spinning disk drive I buy in my life, and I am happy to be finishing up in style.
I bought 2 of these to do a RAID 0 setup in my gaming PC. They replaced the oem 1TB mechanical that came with my machine. The load time because of RAID 0 is so much quicker than the one drive alone and surprisingly the noise is less also, not sure how two drives are quieter than one but I’ll chalk that up to seagate being an awesome manufacturer! Overall very satisfied, I have a 4TB INTEL RAID volume and the load times on my games are almost non existent! I saved money by doing this versus getting an ssd.
The 2TB drive added to a Dell PC which already had a drive, added plenty of memory for a dual boot Windows and Linux computer. It was a 3.5" (ish) drive for a 5.25" (ish) bay and required some special Dell support/sleeve. A universal support/sleeve I bought did not work. I also had to buy another drive cable.
Great value. Use it as my backup drive. Never had a Seagate drive fail yet after using them for 25 years.
My Apple Airport Time Capsule 5th gen A1470 had Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD. When it failed I ordered the same brand HDD with 4TB capacity. The new HDD is thinner but it doesn't cause any problem. Opening A1470 is a tricky business. If you're doing this for the first time then prepare yourself by watching some video on YouTube. Be careful with connectors - by pulling them in wrong direction you can damage them.
The new HDD was initialized by AirPort Utility without any hassle. Installed new HDD is quiet and perhaps less hot than original. I checked warranty on Seagate website: it is valid until May 26, 2021, thus two years. I am very happy with purchase.
