Ever think people buy positive reviews for their product? I think someone is doing the opposite for this one and putting negative reviews on here.
I first looked at a Scuf controller 5 years ago. I filled out what controller I wanted and almost laughed when I saw the price was $180. How did it cost $130 for them to just put a couple tiny plastic paddles on the back of a controller?
I never bought one and refused to because that price was ridiculous. So I see this Strike Pack a couple months back. I read reviews for a couple weeks and watched videos and finally decided to order it.
It came in the mail and I set it up and plugged it in. It didn’t work. Long story short I fiddled around for an hour and realized the USB wasn’t even fully plugged in to the controller.
I read some people say that you really had to PUSH HARD on the USB until it clicked a second time, but I underestimated how hard you had to push. So I really gave it some elbow grease, it snapped in, and ouilla it worked.
It took 30 seconds to sign in and map the buttons and I was off.
The game I’m playing is the one everybody is sick of hearing about, Fortnite. But the very first game I was able to jump around and build and shotty at the same time without moving my thumbs. It was amazing.
Now here we are a couple months later and I’m twice as good as I was then. I’ve won a bunch of Solos and have no problem outplaying most people because I don’t have to move my thumbs around. This thing has worked amazing and it’s incredibly cheaper than anything else like it out there.
I didn’t want to write the review because I have an advantage over everyone on console by using this thing. But at the same time I hate that Scuf has a monopoly on modded controllers and charges 400% of what this thing costs. And it’s also odd to me that the negative reviews on here will end up saying they should “Just buy a Scuf” instead.
So if you’d rather spend $40 instead of $150+ I’d say give this thing a try. You won’t regret it
Currently have it on my ps4 for the past 4-5 weeks. The games I mainly play are Fortnite and COD Black Ops 4. Ready for an in depth review? Okay here we go:
Pros:
-I got this mainly for the price. $40 for this instead of $200+ for a scuf controller was so worth it.
-paddles are amazing with fortnite in particular. The one aspect of my game that improved was my aim, because the benefit of paddles is you can jump and switch to build mode without removing your right thumb from the aiming toggle.
-I won’t necessarily say it improved my building, but I will say it has slightly improved my editing which was surprising.
Cons:
-this is more of a con for me because I have small hands/fingers, but i wasn’t really able to reach the paddles it comes with and had to purchase their alternative paddles on their website designed for “a relaxed fit” aka me lol
-you have to keep it plugged into your ps4 at all times and it cannot be wireless.
-paddles in general, whether it be this or a scuf controller takes time to adapt and re learn muscle memory. It took me a solid 2-2.5 weeks on playground mode practicing before I felt comfortable going on disco domination, and then to an actual game. Now I’m starting to feel very comfortable and confident in my building and fighting again, but I was a bot in the beginning transition stages.
Overall, it was 110% worth it. It holds up better than scufs do apparently (my friend just had to send his scuf in for repairs and he hasn’t even had it for a year).
I also want to add that I don’t use the mods, I heard you could get banned for using mods in fortnite so just be careful. I also play black ops 4 and love the paddles in that game too (being able to jump and crouch/slide while aiming in that game is nice as well).
Disclaimer: I wanted to wait and really put the item through its paces as an option for the semi-serious to competitive gamer and for concerns of longevity.
I've had the item since May 2017 and have put many hours into using the paddles add on. The device fits very comfortably on the Dual Shock 4 controller and I even have controller grips on mine that I was able to trim down to fit around the paddles. The paddles themselves are in a slightly different position than what the standard SCUF controllers are; As in, the Strike Pack requires almost a "trigger" pull like that of a gun trigger, but with the middle finger. Mind you I have slightly smaller hands than possibly some users so this took some adjustments for me. If you have long fingers I don't see this presenting much of an issue. One thing I believe you'll notice with this device that I believe far exceeds that of the traditional SCUF controller that may have been worked out through the newer SCUF models is the ease of remapping your buttons to each paddle. Whichever function you need the paddle to serve on the controller can be mapped to the back paddles. Also, while this function is active your traditional buttons still remain active should it take longer than normal to rewire your muscle memory to rely on the paddles. After about 1-2 weeks of using the device I found myself relying on the paddles very comfortably during normal play. If you're a seasoned gamer you should be familiar with the controller mapping known as "bumper jumper" wherein you jump and melee (in FPS) using the left and right bumpers or R1 and R2. A large problem I've found with this function is that it still requires the user to remove their thumb from the right joystick to perform certain functions that may be required in your particular game. With the paddles however, You can use them in conjunction with this Bumper Jumper in mind, or as I use it myself, with a standard control scheme; Therein, allowing the the user to lose control of the joy stick as little as is possible. After several months of use with the device, I've found it to be very durable and very comfortable to use. The device allows for some very high level game play allowing the user to perform maneuvers and skills very quickly and comfortably.
Some of the downsides I've noticed with the device are some connectivity issues. Occasionally the device can disconnect its self wherein it requires a constant connection via the micro USB cable. When using the device and plugging it in using the cable you must additional "activate" the paddles by pressing the PS button on the dualshock 4 again and registering it to your current user profile. Typically you shouldn't encounter any issues doing so, but I found that on the off scenario that the device wasn't coming on, simply removing the micro USB and reconnecting it would resolve any issues. The paddles themselves are attached via magnet so there's no need in worrying about breaking the paddles, although if you're not careful you may accidentally remove one of your paddles from its magnetic slot.
Overall I would greatly recommend the product though it isn't without its flaws. Mainly any problem you may have with the device will be a minor inconvenience that is rather easily fixed. I would also recommend the product in conjunction with some good controller grips and thumbstick mounts via KontrolFreak or others if you're so inclined!
After two years of extensive use here is my opinion.
Games used:
Destiny
Destiny 2
Fortnite(short use)
Call of Duty
Sims
Diablo 3
GTA 5 Online
Monster Hunter World
Overwatch
Every game I've used this with has had a big impact of how I play each of them, to the point I have trouble if I don't have it attached to one of my other controllers it's like I'm grabbing the controller for the first time. This will not make you an FPS God, but easing the motion of gameplay.
Most of the noticable difference using this item can be found playing FPS games, though games like Diablo and MHW made commands/abilities much smoother. When properly setup it is the best paddle system for the price.
Problems I really into and still occasionally do run into them:
-Loses sync with the PlayStation causing the controller to turn off, and with the steps you have to follow with a wireless headset it can be a pain. When in an intense situation I unplug the paddles and go without them until I can sync it back up.
-Syncing it with the PlayStation using a wireless headset is a lil bit annoying but it's not a major con unless the above situation happens
-Some reason my D-Pad up and down have switched while in tournament lock, no idea how or why it's fully updated and have tried several options maybe I'm not seeing the solution.
-Instructions are not the greatest or best laid out for mod proposes, now I'm not saying I bought this for mod control, I have tested them yes but not all of them work with multiple games and you can't use it in tournament play anyway. I will say that recoil control is nice to have, but it can be off sometimes. Best just to use it for the paddles.
Best features:
-Price, it ain't high dollar but it works consistently even though I'll have an issue maybe once every couple weeks. You will not beat the price of this on your controller for the paddles alone and it even includes other mods even though I don't use them other than the recoil and full auto when it plays nicely (yes I'll admit I use them but not enough to hinder when I can't)
-Computer program they released is very straightforward with majority of the controls, maybe one or two questionable adjustments but it's very well laid out and can get into finer adjustments with trigger pull setpoints and recoil control.
If you thought about a scuff get this first, you won't regret it especially with how cheap it is.
Definitely worth buying if you want paddles, but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a controller. I have been using them for almost two weeks and have definitely seen an improvement in my game. Programming the paddles is extremely easy and setup was no problem. As for the comments I've seen regarding the durability of the USB connection, I have only had to disconnect mine once and have thus far not had any issues. I will update my review accordingly if any troubles should arise.

Love my Strike Pack FPS Dominator. I play mostly FortNite and I began to realize that I needed to upgrade my controller if I wanted to improve so I started looking into a Scuf controller, but I was very put off by the price. Then my friend recommended the Strike Pack FPS Dominator and for $40 I have nothing to complain about. The only downsides are probably that you need to have the USB cable plugged in at all times (but that's not an issue for me at all) and maybe that the stock paddles are a bit too long. I had to buy the alternative paddles from the Collective Minds website, which are shorter, since the defaults caused some discomfort.
This product is fantastic.. Easy to install and uses any micro-usb cable. I only use the auto hold breath and hold to fly in cod mods along with mapping x to the left pad and o to the right.. Has a satisfying click and easy to press and very comfortable. However wish I could use my grips with these.... I tried cutting away the middle part of the silicon but then the paddles don't have any room or angle adjustment to fit .. It also works the same way on ps3 when you plug in the ps4 controller, you just can't see any lights on ds4. Some improvements could be compatibility for grips using some sort of adjustments and stuff.. The other mods are slightly harder to set up than the simple ones I used and it would be nice to have a pc app to set it up. And maybe an off switch (stays on when plugged in. Otherwise this really is a blessing to hold.
:UPDATE:You can get this to work with a silicon grip for your ds4. It's a bit of work but all you gotta do is cut the middle part out the trace along the ends of paddle with a pen or sharpee on the silicon grip and cut out that part.. If you want the top hanging part to stay against the controller you can use some tape to hold it all in place.
The thing works fine. Sucks that you're unable to use a headset to chat while using this, however, the trade-off is understandable. I don't use many of the features, but here are the ones that I do use/recommend:
Auto-Run! Especially in games like Battlefield, where you find yourself running across the map most of the match. It's nice to not have to press on the left joystick and hold it up, again and again, and again. Surely will lengthen the life of it, too.
Auto-Spot! Now, I admit that this is borderline cheating, or at least I feel guilty using this mod online. However, the same gun I'm using Auto-Spot on has a freakin' Target Detector attachment that does the exact same thing. Or at least, that's what I tell myself in order to make me feel better for using it against people online.
As you can probably tell by now, I've been playing a lot of Battlefield with this (mostly BF4 [yes, in 2018!]). So when it comes to using the actual paddles, I set mine for Left D-Pad and Right D-Pad, allowing me to throw out equipment without having to move my left thumb from the joystick (as jumpshotting is more of a Call of Duty thing and is not really vital in BF4, otherwise I would set one of the paddles as my X button in order to jump).
Besides that, the build quality is solid, the included USB cable is gold-plated, and I do recommend these to anyone who doesn't want to commit to buying a SCUF controller. Whether you use the mods or not, the paddles are a useful addition!
Ok i have always wanted a scuff but i watched all my friends exsperience multiple scuff failures and i am not about to flush that amount of money. I stumbled onto this and new i had to try it. This is much better than a scuff granted its only a 2 paddle mod. The buttons are very nice and clicky as well as magnetic which helps detach the paddle to keep it from snapping under strain. They payed VERY close attention to the controler design and made it fit snugly with ample button space, as well as facilitating how the controler fits in the hands. Mapping is easy, 2 button press fast. The only down side is how it secures itself around the front of the controler by putting 3 teeth into the sound port. All in all this is a must buy.
Not quite a replacement for $150+ modded controller, but pretty close. The out-of-the-box functionality is pretty good. If nothing else the ability to remap the controller, adjust the sensitivity of your trigger buttons and the addition of the Scuzzy style back buttons is worth the purchase price. Set up is pretty easy using the YouTube videos created by the manufacturer. If you use the mod packs for individual games that you get buy purchasing the annual Modpass subscription, this thing is a beast. The only cons that keep me from giving it five stars are:
1. To get the full functionality you have to pay for an annual subscription to unlock individual mod Packs.
2. It has to be plugged in.
3. PlayStation recognizes it as a USB headphones, so the audio is treated as if you were using headphones even when you aren’t, so you either have to miss out on hearing chat If using your TV speakers or use headphones to hear both chat and game audio.
4. On the fly adjustments are kind of cumbersome. I have to keep referencing the manual and the YouTube videos anytime I want to change the individual functions.
