AT&T EL52313 3-Handset Expandable Cordless Phone with Answering System & Extra-large Backlit Keys

AT&T EL52313 3-Handset Expandable Cordless Phone with Answering System & Extra-large Backlit Keys

I am writing this review in response to reviews that I have read before purchasing this product. Let me just say up front for all DSL users, you can correct the static problem by purchasing a DSL phone filter jack.
OK, back to my review...I had an AT&T Dect 6.0 phone answering system prior to this one, so I had decided to purchase another one after the original one began to fail. Thankfully, the previous system lasted many years. When I received the new system, and installed it, there was static every time I picked up the handset to make or receive a call. I was so angry, I repeatedly told my daughter that it was going back to Amazon.
Fortunately, I had remembered the complaints that this phone system did not work well with DSL. Then I remembered that my late husband had added an additional jack to the answering machine component. I looked at the old broken device and found the jack which is a DSL phone filter jack. No more static! Amazon sells the filter jack for under $10.00. I have found that if I use it in the answering component, that it corrects the static problem for all of the handsets as well. I hope this review is helpful.

I recently ordered these phones for my elderly Mom as her hearing and sight are not what it used to be. She could not be more happy with these AT&T phones as the buttons are larger than normal and back lite and the speaker phone works very easily for my Mom. They are also very comfortable in your hand and I personally like the looks of them. Wish I would have ordered these phones years ago as we have been putting up with the crackling phones that went dead way to quickly for way to long. All I can say is these phones would be an excellent choice for anyone with impaired vision or sight. Delivery was on time and very quick, these phones are exactly as described, I would highly recommend this product to anyone,

These phones are great! My favorite feature is the wide variety of ring tones. You also have a wide variety in many other features like number of rings and volume. It is very easy to operate. It also is very stylish. I would highly recommend this product!

Being a senior-senior, I continue to be amazed at the advancements being made in electronics. In the past, my wife and I have used other cordless telephones in our home, but the AT&T #52300 phones have them all beat by far. Even for someone pushing ninety (90) I found it easy to navigate through the various buttons, menus, etc., to program memory into the phones. I entered the names and numbers of our family/friends into one of the hand sets, and lo and behold, without any further effort on my part, all the other handsets were identically programmed. Amazing might not be adequate...MIRACULOUS would be better.

Bought these to replace some older VTech phones, and so far they're working out really well. They're just a little clunky, but for the price I can deal with that. The main feature we require is a good speakerphone. When my son, who is in the Air Force, calls home every week, we like to put him on speakerphone so he can talk to the whole family at once. These speakerphones are nice and clear and loud, which makes our conversations so much easier (and longer - haha). The base unit looks really sharp, and I like how the handsets update automatically (clear missed calls on one and they clear on all, for instance).

Overall, these are solid, basic cordless phones at a good price. They may not have some of the newfangled features like Bluetooth compatibility or a charging port for your cell phone, but they have all the standard bells and whistles (Caller ID, directory, answering machine, voicemail compatibility, ability to customize ringtones, etc.), and they work well.

I got this to replace an older Panasonic I liked a lot. This phone seems to have every feature that phone had, but with a lighted keypad, smaller footprint and no ugly antennas.

The range seems pretty good. The sound is loud and clear, not extremely loud, but better than I've heard on many cordless phones I have trouble hearing on. The phone can be wall mounted. All the functions seem to work reliably. The clock / calander sets itself with caller ID info the first time you get a call after a power outage.

I've seen reviews stating the ringer can't be turned off. That is false. The base ringer can be turned off using the volume controls on the base and the handset ringer can be turned off in the menu. You have full volume control over both ringers and there are many ring tone choices.

There are a couple complaints about shortish talk time on the battery pack. That may be true. The phone uses a battery pack made from 2 NiMH AAA cells rated at 400mAh. Decent cells are rated much higher these days. I'm going to make my own pack using 1000mAh cells, which should more than double the talk time, but will also increase the charge time from empty.

All in all, it seems like an exceptionally nice phone at a bargain price. But, it may not be for you if you tend to have long phone conversations, unless you replace the battery pack with a higher capacity one. There are higher capacity battery packs available for this phone, just search the model number and add the word battery. I saw several 750mAh packs that would almost double talk time over the stock battery.

EDIT: I did make my own battery pack using two 1000mAh AAA NiMH batteries and the connector from the stock battery. I recently did a 2-hour phone training session using the phone and the battery wasn't even half drained. So, I can now say for sure talk time is beyond excellent with an upgraded battery. Not sure how long the stock battery would last because I replaced it soon after buying the phone. Still like this phone very much!!! It's probably well worth the price, even if you have to upgrade the battery. You may have noticed there are few other phones in the price range that even work properly and many are getting horrible reviews.

Like most other people, my wife and I have gone through a number of cordless phones over the years. Most of them had terrible sound qualities, and some had an interface that were really hard to figure out and use. These phones from AT&T have lasted a surprisingly long time. Sound quality is good and so is the coverage. The interface is very logic and the design, if that is important to you, is so-so. The only problem I have found is that if I am on the phone for 2-3 hours (which happens with tech support, you know!) one can go through the batteries of three phones, and that can be problematic because the recharge time is several hours.

Okay, so we may be one of the last people in America who still use a landline. This pair of phones does a nice job of convincing us to keep the landline going, even if most of our calls come to our cells anyway. They work well, provide good quality sound and we can take them a good distance from the base, including using them outside in our yard. The digital answering machine also works as you would expect and can be accessed remotely via a PIN. We've had these phones for almost three years and they continue to provide solid, reliable service.

I bought this to replace an older three-phone AT&T set, as well as two other brand single cordless phones.

The first thing I noticed is that line noise dropped to virtually zero (it was one of those things you finally notice when it is not present!) and vocal sound quality was greatly improved.

Second, the ring tone wasn't as jarring as the previous phones (not a volume thing, but the tone of the ring).

Third, and actually most important: the menu, menu options, and ease of using them was a major improvement one the previous system.

I expected it to be a functional item, not one that surprised me with how much it was improved over a previous version.

On my latest purchase of the AT&T EL52200 Phone, along with this purchase, I was offered an upgraded purchase of a more powerful set of batteries.
Upon my purchase, the order was switched to a different pair of batteries, which weren't listed for the EL52200 phone.
Don't freak out, when purchasing this set of batteries, when this happens to you too.
Even though it lists it incorrectly, when received, you'll discover they ARE for the EL52200 phone.
Now, back to the AT&T EL52200 Phone, once the stronger batteries is received in the mail, do what the phone instruction say.
FULLY charge the batteries 1ST, before doing ANYTHING with the phone.
Once this is completed, follow the instructions & program the AT&T EL52200 Phone.
Installing the DIRECTORY is the hardest part, BUT if you follow the instructions correctly, this is very simple.
So while letting the batteries FULLY charge (Approx. 6 hours) read up on the instructions.
Your upgraded batteries will arrive in the mail, NOT UPS.
The batteries that ARE supplied with the AT&T EL52200 Phone, are quite LAME, & can cause more problems.
Be patient & wait for the upgraded batteries.
enjoy your purchase.
