OK: I'm a power user on the internet. I pay for speed and I expect it to be there when I use it.
The ISP units were flaky. Changed their unit four times and finally said, there has got to be a better solution to equipment that is intermittent by design. Bought this unit, and can't say enough nice things. It works better than the ISP units, and has not disappointed me for one day. Nice. Bonus: Pays for itself in one year. Thanks Motorola for making a quality product.
So far so good. I bought this modem to replace my comcast modem that was charging me to rent monthly. I see a big difference in speed and constantly connected and not dropped like I was with the Comcast modem. The only downside to this modem is no phone connection which to me was no bid deal since we haven't used the landline in 4 years anyway. I have about 8 devices connected so far to the modem and streaming 4 tvs with no problem. I should start making money back in 18 months for what Comcast was charging me so I think it's a good investment so far. I'm trying to cut my cable bill down as much as possible. Hope this helps.
When we canceled our tv service (still twc at the time), we kept the internet. We pay for 200 Mbps, but we're constantly having latency and dropping issues with the modem/router we were leasing from them. Once we bought this, our speed increased consistently to 226-229 Mbps (like I said, only paying for 200). We don't have any problems connecting to wifi, no drops or latency. Really love it! We've had it on for a little over a month and haven't had to restart or anything. Very happy.
If you have spectrum, you will need to call when you get it. They have to set up some files to activate it. We couldn't get ours to work for a while, and finally called back in. The first guy had forgotten one file in a folder. So if you have issues, have them check whatever they do during setup.
Motorola has a winner here. This thing is built so well. Full Wifi signal strength throughout the house. 240Mbit download speed (paying for 150Mbit). It has the entire left, right and top covered in vents... Which is how all modems should be made. A heat sink is on the main processor, 3 thermal sinks on the radios and chip (undetermined). 3 Internal Dual Band Antennas which are nicely laid out. Modem boots in 30 seconds or less. Typical Docsis modems take 2-3 mins to boot. The interface is easy to navigate and set. The base is wide and stable. The LED's are a pleasant brightness. The build quality is excellent.
I don't see any cons other then the power cord having a bump at the plug which causes the brick to wobble and potentially come lose. The Signal to Noise is 41-43 which is amazing. Means they are using a high quality radio for the cable communication to the ISP. Zero errors and corrected octets. Perfection!
Shame they don't make an Emta version. Comcast holds a monopoly on them... Because they want that $10 a month. Arris is the only suppler that you can find, that is compatible with phone support. But their modems are no where near as good as this.
Replaced Xfinity Router / Modem with this unit and it works great. Speed Improvements are significant and the signal is now better at all points in the house. Super simple to setup. Time to get up an running ( I was in IT) for me was about 15 minutes. I can now save 10.00 pre month so after 17 months I start saving money on my capital investment. Be sure to log into the router and change all the default passwords (LAN & Admin (Router).
Tip: Do not call up Comcast. Use there online registration. Direct connect to the router with your computer and open up your browser and the Xfinity registration screen pops up. Have your account number ready.

We had previously been renting an Xfinity modem and due to charges on my bill were forced to purchase our own. I went to the Xfinity site and saw that this was on the list for supported modems and also had Wifi so you don't have to purchase the router. I've been sold since day one. This actually increased our speed tremendously, which kind of also made me think of how much money we wasted not receiving the speed we were paying for previously. If you are thinking about purchasing a modem vs renting, just do it. You will save money overtime from renting a piece of crap Xfinity modem and this one makes streaming movies and being on multiple devices so much simpler.
I have had this Modem/Router for about a week and my speeds/connections have been faster/better than ever. My provider is Time Warner Cable and they are awful as it is. I had a netgear router and it started to disconnect intermittently. I have had nothing but good experiences so far with his router.
P.S. Our internet plan is 50mg. After the new router was activated we are getting anywhere from 100 to 150mg.
Great Device.
Changing over to new modem and Install was a breeze. I'm currently on xfinity's 25mb plus 200 speed boost plan. I used to run xfinity's most current modem but could never get really decent speeds especially with the WiFi even with tweaking settings the best i could. I used to average 20-60mbps down which is decent but not good enough for me. With the current setup, I'm getting 200+ consistently. First pic is on PC hardwired, the 2nd is on wifi on my phone, and 3rd is on my older ps4 hardwired. I'm assuming the ps4 is getting slower speeds due to the 100ft cat cable and it's also sharing the line with the home security camera system. I'm satisfied!
I forgot to upload my speed tests screenshots
Wonderful modem/Wifi. It's a fast router that works great with Comcast. My ooma works the best with this router and is very stable with voip right out of the box. 2.4 has good range but 5GHz is best at a shorter range. This is not out of the ordinary for the 5 GHz band. In addition, this router boots up fast! My Comcast router took 5 minutes to reboot. This Motorola is very good in many other areas like port forwarding. So far, I'm happy with this device because it just works with minimal effort. I would recommend it to anyone.
I just want my internet to work and that's it. I have Xfinity and it kept cutting on and off. I pay for "up to" 300 mbps as the provider says to cover themselves. I ran a test and over wifi was getting about 25mbps. I felt I was getting ripped off so I started researching other ISP's. In doing so I read a better modem and router can help you "get what you pay for" with internet speeds. My current modem was a cheesy one the ISP gave me and a gen 1 Apple router. Trying a new modem/router seemed to make sense so I read some more and this Motorola modem/router looked good. I have multiple devices (iPhones/tablets) on wifi, a Xbox for multiplayer games, and Apple TV. I ran a test right before hooking up this modem and was running 22mbps. I hooked it up which was quite simple and ran the test again... 238mbps consistently over wifi!!! I was really impressed everything is performing significantly better, and I suspect the cutting in and out was due to the old equipment. I'm paying for "up to" 300mbps so I'll take 238mbps and call it a day. Very happy with this modem and highly recommend if you are having internet woes and using obsolete equipment. If you're renting a modem buy this Motorola, turn the old one in and it will pay for itself!
