TeckNet Laptop Cooling Pad, Portable Ultra-Slim Quiet Laptop Notebook Cooler Cooling Pad Stand with 2 USB Powered Fans, Fits 12-16 Inches

TeckNet Laptop Cooling Pad, Portable Ultra-Slim Quiet Laptop Notebook Cooler Cooling Pad Stand with 2 USB Powered Fans, Fits 12-16 Inches

This is a well designed cooling pad. It fits right under my 2012 MacBook Pro 13 (13.3" display). This cooling pad measures 14 inches by 11 inches. Diagonally it's 17.5 inches. It's lightweight so it makes it easy to carry around with my laptop on top.

Has 2 cooling fans that I can barely hear. The fans are blue in color but they don't light up when they're running. There is a blue led in the back right beside the power switch that indicates if it's on.

Connects to my MacBook via USB. This leaves one USB port available in the back of the cooling pad next to the power switch.

The bottom and sides of the cooling pad have openings that allow more air to flow in to the fans. Okay to use directly on my lap since it also draws air in from the sides. My MacBook stays in place and doesn't slip off the slightly angled surface. I am pleased with this product.

I bought my cooling pad in February, 2016, so 11 months of use. The unit draws air down through the laptop and out either side. My laptop is a HP 15.7" and fits the pad quite well. A 17" laptop would overhang the sides some. My use is for heavy business use, but no gaming. I understand gaming computers have much more waste heat and as such I can not speak to that operating environment. For my use, the pad does a great job of cooling my laptop.

After about 10 months of use, I noticed extra noise coming from the pad, especially upon restarting the laptop after it had been turned off for a few hours. Being an engineer, I had to investigate. (I was concerned there might be a bad fan bushing that would mean the end of the cooling pad was likely soon.) The investigation required disassembly of the pad, i.e. removing the four rubber feet, 6 screws, and the expanded metal grill covering the fans. My tools were a flashlight, a jewelers Phillips head screwdriver, a small flat head screwdriver, Q-tips, a cleaning cloth, and a can of canned air. What I found was a pronounced accumulation of hair on the leading edges of the fan blades as well as dust on the remainder of the blades. After a through cleaning and reassembly, the pad was running as quietly at the day I first put it to use.

It would seem the hair accumulations had the small fans out of balance causing the pronounced vibrations that I had been hearing. Hair accumulations on the leading edges of fan blades in a common issue with portable fans used in the home. Also, I do have four cats.

The disassembly and reassembly were easy enough. The only negative that I found we the way the expanded metal screen was secured into the cooling pad housing. Essentially, short extensions of the expanded screen were used as tabs that were then folded down into the housing. I could imagine these tabs could eventually break off during future cleaning tasks, due to cold working of the thin metal screen. This is a very minor issue only an engineer would be concerned about and does not impact the ability of the pad to do its function.

For the circumstances described above, I consider this to be a very acceptable cooling pad for the money.

This thing is a game changer... Literally. I use my laptop for gaming - roughly an hour or two at a time. I like to run games with high quality graphics, and thus, my computer works harder and heats up. In the past, I would put my knees up to give my laptop some breathing room which is very uncomfortable for long term use. This cooling pad allows my legs and computer to stay cool for long periods of computer usage.

I have just over a 17 inch laptop - I was a little nervous because it is slightly bulky. The computer extends slightly off the outsides of the pad but it doesn't have a negative affect on the cooling. The sticky band on the bottom keeps my laptop in place even when I'm moving around. I highly recommend this to anyone that hates their laptop burning their legs. 5 Stars.

My daughter mentioned how hot my laptop was when she used it in her lap. She suggested I get a cooling pad. I really didn't know what she was talking about but went on a search and saw this one from Amazon. It came earlier than I expected and I opened it wondering what it would do. For one thing, my laptop is more comfortable in my lap which is a plus. It has 2 fans that I can't hear (quite!) but that are cooling the bottom of my laptop. All I had to do was plug in the USB cord that was included - 1 into USB of computer (Dell Inspiration 15) and the other end into the cooling pad. It even has a light that lights up to show it is working, as well as an on off switch. I'm happy! I also loved the instructions - simple as they were - were in English with a link if you needed another language. An enclosure informed me to register purchase with the company and get an extended 6 month warranty which I will do because my impression of the company is very positive. (And I have never seen this from any other company). It came packaged in heavy cardboard and protected with bubble wrap which I appreciated. I recommend and gave it a perfect 5 stars. I will be looking for other TECKNET products as a result of buying this.

This cooling pad is everything I was looking for. I work in the IT field and though I don't repair laptops anymore, I know how bad it gets when the fans are sucking in air from the bottom, which most laptops still do so today and most of the laptop cooling pads are doing as well. Not this guy, I really like the functional design of this cooling pad. It sucks the air from the sides, the bottom is solid and has an air gap that leaves your lap, or whatever you set this on, cool and comfortable. It doesn't try to suck up hot pillow air if you set it on a pillow. This thing really works great.

This works great. I looked at a lot of cooling pads before picking this one. I like that this pad can sit on your lap or a blanket, and that air can still circulate from the sides. Even with two fans running, it is extremely quiet. I like the fact that it uses a USB cord and switch to power the unit from the back and not the bottom, so that the cord and switch will not get damaged. The additional USB port is a nice bonus. Works well with my 13" Macbook Pro, keeps everything cool.

I bought the TeckNet Cooling Pad for my HP Spectre 360 13" laptop and it works great to keep it cool. Plenty of airflow and quiet. The airflow is so good, that I normally don't even have to turn the fans on. A usb cord is provided. It is comfortable to use and is large enough to allow about 3/4 to 1" clearance around the laptop. There are rubber pads on the bottom, but I can't feel them on my lap. It also is not real thick, so the pad is not bulky. (Approx. 1 3/4" at the back, 1/2" in the front.) I also like the tilt of the pad and the (rubber?) strip towards the bottom edge that keeps the laptop in place. (No ledge, just the strip) The on/off switch and 2 usb ports are on the back edge. The led light that's also on the back edge is a bright blue, but since the user can't see it, I don't mind it. :) I would venture to say that it would probably fit in a lot of laptop bags/backpacks too. This is an awesome cooling pad!

I was looking for a cooling pad for my Alienware 13 R3 and looked at probably 50 different ones before ordering this one. I really didn't know what to expect for quality and didn't know if 2 fans would be enough to keep it cool. I was impressed when I received it and tried it out for the first time though. I noticed a huge difference in heat reduction and this thing is absolutely silent! It's fits my computer perfectly with about a 1/4" to spare on the sides and about an 1" to spare on the front and back. I don't notice the blue leds at all because my computer covers them but I didn't care about that at all anyways. It's very light but also seems durable, my only issue with it is that I can't fit it in my computer carrying bag because it is somewhat thick. I would definitely buy this again and would highly recommend to anyone considering purchasing one.

I currently have a 13 in laptop, and you can see what that would look like on this cooling pad in the pictures I posted. My laptop is one of those thinner laptop, so it doesn't have great fans to cool itself down. I bought this pad because of the design, and because people said its great at cooling down your laptop. So the design of this pad is quite beautiful, very minimalist, but also quite smart. Currently I'm using this cooling pad on my lap right now because the design allows for it; the openings on the side allows for a great amount of airflow. As I've said before, my laptop is not great at cooling itself down, hence why I bought this pad. This cooling pad can really cool down your laptop. I'm a student, more specifically an engineering student, so I use many, for lack of better word, computer intensive software (e.g. SolidWorks). I also often use a second monitor, and run many tabs on Google Chrome, and this cooling pad is able to keep my laptop at a cool, comfortable temperature of around 50 - 60 degrees Celsius.

I would highly recommend this cooling pad, 10/10 :)

I'm a software developer and sometimes the applications really max out the CPU - even though I have ample RAM and all the upgrades. I use a combination of Activity Monitor (built-in on Macs) and a ~$20 app called TG Pro. I use TG Pro to kick in max fans at a slightly lower temp to get a bit of a jump on the overheating. I use this fan to assist the built-in fans - and it works! The fans are placed right where the MPB gets hot - and my computer sits with about a half inch of the fans from the cooling pad exposed in back - this assists the built-in computer fans getting out the heat.

This fan doesn't magically reduce the temperature all by itself - I'm not sure there are any cooling pads out there that can manage Mac CPU temps all by itself. This fan does work great in *combination* with keeping the key exterior areas cooler (and thus improving the heat sink ability to diffuse heat), and by helping the internal fans get the heat away from the device.

When I forgot to turn on the cooling pad I noticed a faster ramp up to a higher temp - although just getting the computer off a desktop seems to have helped about 5-8 degrees C. With the fans I'm able to maintain a temp mid/high-70's C - even with the CPU at 300%.

My laptop sits on a desk (with the cooling pad underneath) and for me - the ergonomics are nice - the slight tilt has actually decreased extended use strain. So bonus point for that.

Decent price - and works great on a Mac PowerBook Pro.
