I have often wondered if manufactures and authors read Amazon reviews. After purchasing La Dolce Biscotti, I came to the realization that they do. At least the manufactures of La Dolce Biscotti read the reviews. The major theme among the negative reviews was "Biscotti arrived broken." As a result, I was very reluctant to make this purchase, but did anyway.
When the Biscotti arrived, I immediately open the package. The first thing I noticed was the tight packaging material. These Biscotti's were so tightly packed, they could not bounce around and brake. After inspecting them, I could not find a single Biscotti that was broken. I have concluded that the manufacturer must have read the reviews and altered the shipping protocol.
I bought two sorts of mini biscotti recently on Amazon: Nonni's and La Dolce Vita. In the photo, Nonni's are on the left and La Dolce Vita's are on the right. La Dolce Vita's are slightly larger (20g vs. 15g) with a few more calories (80 vs. 70). You get fewer (around 60 pieces vs. 70) but these are denser (the other version uses baking soda as well as baking powder) and have many more pieces of actual almonds. It may be up to you: I prefer the denser biscotti which are more like the ones I make myself.
As to breakage, the only way you could avoid it entirely is by packing each individual biscotti (biscot?) in a separate section as if they were fancy chocolates. The container was well packed in its shipping box and I found maybe 10 of the cookies were slightly chipped, with only 2 or 3 broken in half. Good enough odds for me!
I am addicted to my morning coffee with a couple of biscottis since my Sicilian nana got me "hooked" as a boy. She made the best biscotti. After she was gone, I tried almost every brand of biscotti I could find. Too many were made with coatings and extra sugar and, and, and.
Then I found La Dolce biscottis. They are the closest to nana's ...the best I could buy. The perfect cookie with my morning coffee.
I give this cookie 5 stars. But, there is a problem with the shipping of this product. I have complained to Amazon about receiving my jar of cookies that were broken in shipment. The jar was placed into a larger box which I believed resulted in too much banging around in shipping that broke up the cookies. The next box I received had a foot of packing material in with the cookies that did no help, it didn't even fill the box. So, I separated out the broken pieces to small to dunk, crushed them, removed the almonds to the snack dish of nuts and used the crumbs as a topping for bread pudding. I just hated to waste those broken cookies.
We initially bought these from Costco and couldn't believe how good they were. I used to make biscotti and these remind of those -- natural ingredients, not too sweet, lots of almonds and that slight taste of anise. A few weeks we discovered that Costco is no longer selling these. They said it was because the manufacturer could not keep up with their orders. Costco explained that with a new product, it frequently happens that the manufacturers are not prepared when it sells so well." They hope to get them again, but in the mean time, I was thrilled to find that we can order them here on Amazon! The cookies have great taste, perfect texture, the price is fantastic, and Amazon gets them to us in a flash. Can't beat that!
These biscotti beat Nonni hands down. The best authentic biscotti out there. Fresh and delicious, lovely anise .Very classic biscotti. My new favorite.Arrived very fast and in good condition, very few broken. Thank you La Dolce Vita!

My parents and grandparents are from Naples Italy. I grew up in a family where these Biscotti were a staple in our household. We ate them with coffee and tea, and even milk regularly. I must say, that these are even better than the ones my Nonna (grandmother) made!
The flavor and texture are superb! Don't change a thing!
Please, whatever you do, don't cut corners on this recipe, and don't start skimping on ingredients to save money, or I will notice and stop buying them!
Just got my first order of these. They are delicious. A few were broken but I don't see that as a problem. If I serve them to guests, I'll give them the whole ones and I'll eat the broken ones. I will definitely be ordering these again.
I LOVE this biscotti! For years now, I have been buying this LARGE plastic jar at Costco. I like dipping the biscotti in my hot morning coffee in lieu of a bigger breakfast. They are not too sweet; the interior, toasted almonds remain crunchy. Only one time did I get a jar that I guess had been at the end of a processing run or something: it had too much anise in it, which I do not care for. This only happened one time. I love that Amazon carries this item: With Prime, I can now have them in 2 or 3 days, saving me that 60 mile drive to Costco!
Bought these along with other cookies to give out as hostess gifts along with serving them in our home during the holidays! They reminded us of the biscotti we enjoyed living back East. Thought I’d check out Amazon. Low and behold reviewed the brands they offered and decided on these. We were amazed at the true deep anise flavor and the quality of the cookie itself. Since then I have reordered them a second time. Our friends all love them! I Am hoping Amazon will carry them for a long time to come!
I bought these in January for the 1st time at a Costco in Palm Desert. We consumed the whole package in about 2 weeks.Guests loved them. I checked to see if Amazon carried them, and found to my delight that Amazon has them. We have reordered them several times since. They are the best biscotti I have ever tasted outside of Italy. The anise flavor is authentic and unlike the powdery biscotti you find commercially in this country, these biscotti are dense, crunchy, loaded with almonds and anise seeds. Couldn't be more highly satisfied. They are the very best.
