I wasn't sure what to expect. I am a loyal Green Mountain Dark Magic drinker so I was prepared to be disappointed. I was very pleasantly surprised, This coffee is very similar and is an outstanding coffee for a house brand, I will continue to buy this in the future!!
Just got my first box of Amazon brand dark roast coffee. In comparison to Newman's Own Special blend and Peets Major Dickinsons blend the Amazon coffee slightly pales. Not quite as robust and flavorful. But, and this is a huge but, it's HALF the price and I got it delivered in just one day.
Next up to try the Columbian Supremo.
Conclusion HALF the price but not HALF the quality.
Excellent bold flavor. Compares very favorably to Starbucks French Roast. Starbucks French has always been my favorite. But this one is excellent.
Starbucks, may be a tad more 'smokey' and Solimo may be a bit more bitter. But they still are very close in flavor.
Tomorrow, depending on how my taste buds are working, I may find no difference at all.
I guess if you like a nice dark roast, I don't think you can go wrong trying this coffee, especially at this price.
PS. I used a Keurig K-Select brewer, and the cup size was the 3rd largest, just before the mug size. So how many ounces of water you use will, of course, affect the flavor.
I will definitely order again.
This was exactly what I expected and wanted. No frills packaging and strong flavorful coffee. Comes in a nondescript box, the cups were all intact and none of them had any punctures or dents. The price is what coffee should cost and I will never go back to buying any other brand.
I like my coffee both bold and black, so it has to have its own personality. Also like many people, I refuse to pay ridiculous prices for coffee. I like to have at least two or three different roasts to choose from, and I always find one of them on sale, or at a reasonable cost.
The Amazon Solimo French Roast fits the bill. It is a nice, bold roast. No bad after taste, no bitterness. And, at 34 cents per pod, it is very reasonably priced. Two out of two members of my household approve of it, so I will assume it's here to stay.
A few other points:
*I have attached a photo of the bottom of the pod. From what I can see, the plastic is indeed recyclable. There is a triangle with the number 6 in it, which stands for Polystyrene. Of course, to recycle, you would have to cut out the filter and spent grinds. I understand recycling is an issue with some people, however, in the big picture, 99.9% of us throw out a heck of a lot more waste than a few plastic pods per day. (I know, every little bit helps.)
*Each pod is also coded and expiration dated. The coffee I received 5/2018 has an expiration date of 8/2019.
*There is no indication of the coffee being Kosher
*Out of curiosity, I compared the weight of a full Green Mountain pod with this Amazon pod. Both weighed in at 15 grams.
*You will be shipped a cardboard box with 100 pods in it. Nothing fancy - box and coffee, which is all that is necessary.
All in all, I think Amazon got it right with this. I am very interested in knowing which company(s) supplies the coffee. I somehow doubt that Amazon roasts their own beans. I'm also surprised they took this long to get in on the pod train.

Soooo happy to have tried this. It is almost as good as my favorite, Peet's Major Dickason's, and HALF the price! Hope Amazon can soon sell it in smaller boxes because making a commitment of 100 k-cups for a coffee that you've never tried before is a bit hare-brained.
Very High Quality for a "Amazon" version, Very Robust and Full of Flavor
combar/to Emeril's and Newmans, I Love it!
I drink my coffee black and this tastes great! Glad to have a hefty stock of them too
We are typically Peet's Coffee drinkers. But the price has become outrageous. This is our second order of 100 ct. Solimo coffee Pods. We are happy with the coffee and will continue to buy it if the price stays so reasonable. The second shipment came in with loose grounds in the box. It appears that the manufacturer's sealing machine applied two seals on one pod which caused a seal problem. This can happen in any high-run manufacturing line. That's why quality controls are implemented. Please take it from a 30-year QA professional; more quality inspection raises the price, but better quality inspection doesn't have to. We still received 99 pods of good tasking coffee and wouldn't think of asking for a $0.38 refund. We just ask that the manufacturer be made aware of this to help prevent recurrence. Thank you.
Just tried my first cup of the Dark Roast/French Roast. It is very smooth. I drink mine on the 10 ounce sitting for brewer. I also top off each cup with a bit of liquid French vanilla creamer. That having been said, first sip is carmel smooth and something about this particular roast feels velvety in texture which only adds to the pleasure of drinking my morning brew. Second and third sips are equally amazing. I can’t say for sure how acidic this coffee is until I have several cups consecutively, but if my taste buds are any indicator, then this is not only smooth in taste but also low in acidity.
This is now on my subscribe list to be delivered monthly (I drink 3 cups every morning). I will update if my opinion changes due to any inconsistencies with quality, if that should occur.
