Just received mine yesterday, will update if anything changes, but so far I'm beyond pleased.
It looks good, it feels good. It is definitely running fast and smooth. I am new to the Chrome OS, which is (obviously) different than Windows and Mac, and I was worried about certain functionality. Here are some of the issues I ran into right off the bat:
-many apps in the Play Store are designed for phones and run in small, low-res windows
--solution: don't run apps like DirecTV, Google Drive, just run them in the regular Chrome Internet Browser. Works perfect!
-videos/applications running Flash Player weren't loading, couldn't install Adobe Flash Player
--solution: when on a website trying to run flash, click the lock icon in the address bar, tell it to allow flash content. Works perfect!
-after setup, connecting to my Google Account, etc, I still did not receive anything referring to the additional 100GB of Google Drive storage
--solution: google "Redeem Chromebook Offers", end up at www.google.com/chromebook/offers/, scroll down, find the 100GB offer, click redeem, all set. 100GB added.
So again, I'm only on day 2 writing this review but I am very, very happy with this purchase right now. It feels like a total steal at this low price. There are of course inherent downsides to buying a fully-web-integrated device like this (limited physical hard drive space, fear of "planned obsolescence," limited availability of programs/apps that run, etc) but if you know you are okay with those factors then I believe that you too will love this machine.
I've own several Chromebooks/boxes starting with an Acer C710 a 5+ years ago so I've come from the $100+ bottom to the $600+ class over the years. Performance on all of them is 5-Star and I'm a 99% full time user of Chromebook/box desktop day to day. My reason for only a 4-Star rating on this one relates to the case only. The outside of the screen case is fine just the bottom is what bugs me. It feels like someone set the cover over the internals and didn't seal it as the bottom edges has a sharp feel to it when you pick up the laptop. This is a backup unit so if I use it more as a daily I'll likely tape off the bottom edge. Works well with my 8 year old wireless printer.
This brand new Acer lightweight Notebook is so easy to use for young and older persons a like. The PS ChromeBook makes no sound at all, because there is no fans nor parts that heat up or cool down. This is the lightest NoteBook/LabTop I have ever owned plus the new designed key pad is wonderful with each light stroke you take. Regardless if you are a young person or an older user with arthritis issues in your hands it is so fair the best I’ve had to use. I believe it is also, beverage resistance too. A great price for anyone on a budget. Hopefully, the next build will be a back lit keyboard for users who like to work or play in the dark. Way-to-go Acer Corp. in Hong Kong and Northern Ca.

Bought this for my husband who was fed up with using Windows. It is extremely light even with its all-metal body. I booted it up to set everything up for him and it was so fast. I wish, really, I had bought one for me. If you use a smartphone or tablet, it is the same. The model I purchased has a 16gb HD and that should be sufficient for my husband. Since he will be new to using a cloud service, this is the only thing he will have to get used to doing differently than when he worked on a windows-based machine. I love it. Also, the screen is bright and the video resolution is fantastic.
I've been looking for a chromebook that had a full HD screen that's priced right for use for ssh to Linux servers and everything else via the browser. This fits the bill and serves as a light thin traveling tool for remote problem solving. This one fits those requirements perfectly. Don't have to lug around my backpack with a big heavy windows laptop. Only issue so far is having to play some hooky games to access remote resources with a two tier authentication, but it can be done.
The IPS screen is awesome and totally makes this computer rock. I use 27" IPS monitors on my desk and love them. One of my laptops has an IPS screen and it's the only one I use anymore, except for the chromebook now. It's 15.6 vs 14 on the chromebook and I worried it too small maybe, but in a pinch, I could work on this thing all day.
Totally awesome for what I was looking for. I am in love with this thing.

I would’ve give this a full five stars, but the seal on the box (inside of the amazon shipping box) had been broken, and there was no laptop case. Other than that, the computer itself is awesome! I bought this mainly for my master’s program, so i was extra nervous making the change from a lifetime of PCs and one trusty Mac desktop. So far, I am very impressed and happy with the Chromebook. Google docs seem really user friendly, and I can still use Microsoft Office. This will make my online classes so much easier!
Great for folks who do not have a lot of computer sense
This is my 2nd Chromebook. I had to replace my first because it finally died (after a few years). So far (only came this morning), I am loving it! I am def a convert and will probably never buy a Mac or PC again. Started it up, logged in to my Google account and I was off and running! Nothing lost, no transfer of anything. Easy peasy. I like the feel of the Acer and the keyboard is comfortable. And, it was delivered ahead of schedule! I hope to be using this for quite awhile.
Love it. Does just what I want. Internet browsing anywhere without fuss. Without the constant lengthy updates and reboots. The tradeoff is worth it overall but the keyboard is small, no "del", "home" or "end" key so if you are writing a lot you might miss these. Battery life is great, the portability perfect, and the low price makes it a no brainer for me.
i got this on the treasure truck so it was a hundo $$ off, totally worth it. i needed something for web browsing and google docs. this fits the bill 100%. it did take like an hour to update once i opened it but no big deal. everything else has been fast. the battery life is UNREAL. it isn't too heavy though i'm not planning to bring it outside of the house (somewhat bc acer is an embarassing brand lol and somewhat bc im not a student who needs to work at a coffee shop or whatever). im an apple person ALL THE WAY and i am impressed with this machine for the two hundred dollar price tag i'm unclear if this can have apps that aren't google apps but i don't need google apps.
