Back when the company was Noodle Roni, I fell in love with the Romanoff variety. The cheeses used were simply divine and I used it in a lot of my casseroles. Then for some reason it was removed from their lineup, so I took to buying Pasta Roni Shells & White Cheddar instead. I found them delicious and creamy, and at first added two cans of tuna to make an inexpensive casserole. Lately I switched to adding cooked shrimp and freshly steamed asparagus instead. I do not know what seasonings are in it, but the flavor and strength are perfect for my taste buds and will continue buying this variety until such time as it too may disappear. On a side note, when I searched the Web for Noodles Romanoff I found quite a few customers who also missed this variety and wonder why it was pulled from the market. I also found recipes for the dish but few sounded similar to the Noodle Roni dish. At least Shells & White Cheddar have proved to be a worthwhile substitute.
This is one of my favorite Pasta Roni flavors and for some reason, both of the local grocery stores I shop at have stopped carrying it. I'm very pleased to have found it on Amazon!
This is an easy to prepare pasta dish, shells in a creamy white cheddar sauce. It's very flavorful and can easily be made a meal by adding chicken or tuna and even some vegetable like broccoli. It's delicious and pleases the whole family!
I have been using Pasta Roni for years. This variety is one of the favorites for my disabled adult son. It has directions that are easy enough for him to make it himself.
I have always found Pasta Roni to be flavorful and of high quality ingredients. We have never used the microwave to make it, the pan method is just as quick and tastier in my estimation.
My son likes to have the Shells and White Cheddar to go with a couple of Chicken Tenders from the Safeway Deli. He comes home late from work and can make this up in no time.
I purchased this from Prime Pantry and also use other Pasta or Rice a Roni products.
Ok, so it's not mom's homemade mac and cheese, but it's not bad. I like to make this on nights when it's just me and the kiddo and I'm going for something quick and warm. I add chopped up chicken or sausage to it, sometimes broccoli, sometimes, herbs, sometimes a squirt of yellow mustard to give it some tang, and always some real cheese. That way I feel like I'm actually preparing a home cooked meal while having the convenience of serving dressed up boxed macaroni. :)
I try to balance out meals only preparing one dish that is time consuming, so the remaining dishes are usually simple. When my entree requires attention, I will pull out the White Cheddar Noodles to accompany. It has flavor to stand alone with a salad for a simple dinner. Also, very good with pork chops, baked chicken, and meatloaf when there's no time for mashed potatoes or homemade mac n cheese.
I keep extra packages in pantry for my college kids who prefer the WC Noodles to anything else late at night.
KEY TO SUCCESS: Simmer medium low, periodically stirring so shells cook evenly and cook out almost all water - this will make a creamier/richer flavored sauce. Also, best results allow to sit 5 minutes off burner to allow sauce to thicken.

Okay, I almost never review food products here because it's so subjective, but I just had to say something about this.
It's so good.
But, here's the deal - As I was preparing dinner last night, in my excitement to get things fixed and on the table, I had already started boiling the pasta before I realized that the dish calls for 2/3 cup milk. I was out of milk.
Save for the last 1/3 of a cup or so of heavy cream in my fridge. I looked at it, the hoarders-level supply of unsalted butter that I keep for baking, and throwing all concern for health/diet out the window, I decided that I'd use the cream and about 4Tbsp of butter to substitute.
So, this is the part where I have to say yes, I can indeed feel my arteries hardening today as a result of the irresponsible (if not dangerous) use of milkfat in my cooking last night. But, was it worth it?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Like, Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally "Yes".
So, there you have it. If you're craving Shells and Cheese, but dressed up like an NC-17 version of Emma Frost, I say go for it. I'll definitely be coming back for more.
'Roni' Products have been used in my household for years and I love all their different varieties. This mac and cheese flavor is so good I am a repeat buyer. I love that the macaroni used is not your standard elbow and that it is WHITE sauce. It is easy to make and tastes good with so many varieties of meats. I love it especially with barbecue grilled chicken.
I am addicted to this mac and cheese. Wish I could say it's for my kids but I don't have any. I'm pleased to say, however, that this particular brand won a boxed mac and cheese taste test that I read about. So I'm not alone in thinking this stuff is delicious!
This Pasta Roni variety,Shells & White Cheddar, is so amazingly good. It tastes wonderful, nothing like many other boxed macaroni and cheese mixes. The white cheddar makes all the difference here. It almost tastes homemade. It is creamy and quite hard to resist. Which is a problem because it is high in calories and fat and pretty low in any sort of real nutrition. It has a lot of junk ingredients too but man, oh, man, now and then it is worth the extra calories to dig in and enjoy this cheap and easy side dish. I always look for things that are healthy and low in fat and this really is neither but life isn't black or white. Now and then, I want some good macaroni and cheese and I don't want to spend time making it from scratch. I don't eat this often but I totally enjoy it when I do. Then I diet for two days after! I do use 2% milk instead of whole milk and it tastes just as good so I save on calories and fat a bit doing that. Skim milk waters down the taste. This is one of the tastiest boxed pasta mixes I have tried.
Pasta Roni is usually always on sale for $1/box around where I am, so I wouldn't order online unless that price can be matched. Of all the varieties I've tried, this one is among my favorites (as well as the fettuccine alfredo).
Whenever I don't feel like cooking anything, I take a box of Shells & White Cheddar and have food ready in a few minutes. Canned tuna goes great with it (and according to the box, that makes it a meal!) and requires pretty much no extra effort. It really is nice to have around for those lazy days.
