Overall a great value. Although these things are used for RC projects primarily, I use these for general use whenever I need low voltage interconnects that carry a respectable amount of power. I rate these as 4 stars instead of 5 because instead of individual small pieces of heat shrink, the package came with several larger pieces. Normally I'd be fine with that, except that there is no way that once cut up into individual pieces they'd be as long as the individual pieces, so there is overall a net reduction in the amount of tubing provided. For the price, not really a big deal.
The trick to these is that you need a pretty beefy soldering iron to solder these without melting the housings. You need a big iron that can heat the connection fast, allowing you to apply solder quickly then remove the heat. With smaller irons, by the time the connection gets hot enough to solder properly, the heat has spread far enough to start melting the housings. I do not use my normal irons for these, I use a butane powered Weller iron. Anyone working with these types of connectors regularly should invest in one, or an electric iron that is at least 60 watts.
I liked that there were 10 male and 10 female XT-60 connectors in this pack and it came with red and black heat-shrink tubing. It comes in a full tube and you cut as much of whichever color tubing you need. I used 18-gauge stranded copper wire, but I think it was supposed to be with 16-gauge. I recommend using soldering flux paste when connecting the wires to the XT-60 connectors (and don’t forget to slip the heat-shrink tubing on first). I consider myself a beginner, but was able to successfully solder the leads securely and beautifully. I used this for a Nerf blaster build. Specifically, a Worker Swordfish blaster shell, Worker aluminum canted flywheel cage and aluminum Worker wheels, x2 Meishel 2.0 motors, and a 1000mAh Zippy 2S LiPo.
I used these for my FIRST Robotics team and all my other various projects.
They are very good if you solder them well. Make sure you tin the wire AND the connector. If you do it right, you won't have a problem with the wire pulling out.
5/5 because they are consistent, good, and come with heatshrink. (note that the heatshrink is 1 red, 1 black 6" length, not all cut up like the picture)
There are very good compared to others I have used. Would and did buy again.
First off I wrote over 500 reviews. 99% where rc products! I only gave maybe 30x 5 star reviews! This product had + and - Markings on each side which was a first for me. Kinda nice no second guessing! Solder took very easy to each terminal and they didn't turn to mush after some heat was applied. I used number 10 wire with these and they had a nice deep pocket where most of it fit nice. I went overkill for my project* the wire is normally like 12 or 14 that is used with these. Whatever you use it will be nice! they give you enough black and red shrink tubing to cover every part 1 inch over the solder joints. Very nice firm fits and yet still can pull out a plug without tearing half your model apart to do it lol! Great item will buy more in future for sure you should too!!
XT60 connectors might seem generic these days. You can pick them up everywhere it seems. However, some are very hard to get apart. That stresses the wires connecting them as you tug and pull. Another problem occurs during soldering where some of the plastics used soften and the connections don't line up. Sure you can have the mating connector in place when you solder but even then some connectors suffer when soldering large gauge wires which take a lot of heat. These connectors have proven durable when soldering and easy to pull apart. The heat shrink supplied also is of high quality. I think these XT60 connectors are of great quality.
Feature Product
- 10 Pair High Quality Female and Male XT60 Connectors
- Heat Shrink 2:1 both Red and Black Included - 2 Feet Total
- XT-60 Connector for RC Lipo Batteries Drones Airplanes Cars Vehicles
- 60 Amp Current Handling Bullet Connectors
- High Temperature Nylon Material
Description
Made from high-temp Nylon and gold plated bullet connectors, both included in the injection mold at the time when forming the connector. The XT60 ensures a solid high-amp connection, perfect for applications up to and beyond 65A constant. These original Nylon XT60 plugs can handle 60A current for extended periods without exceeding 80DegC thanks to their better contact surface area. The plug is also less likely to deform or melt.
12" Black and 12" Red 5mm High Quality Heat Shrink Tubing 2:1 included.
Everything's all there, and its holding up quite well. The XT connectors are very easy to solder, probably one of the easiest IMO. If you are struggling when trying to solder Deans connectors then maybe try the XT's. Used in conjunction with 12awg silicone-stranded for my wiring and some basic rosin core electrical solder.
Additional Note: The only downfall with XT's that I can think of is that the majority of lipo batteries on the market are almost always running deans by default unless specified otherwise but that doesnt affect the quality of this product and therefore wont impact the rating of this review.
Havent used yet, but they seem well built and have a positive connection that brings confidence. I will be ordering more of the 60's and 90's. This is for a custom RV project and user serviceability without cutting and soldering wires is important to our business and mono. These are great addition to our latest design and have received wonderful feedback from those who love interacting with them so far. Wish they were cheaper or we could use them for ALL connections but for not we will focus on what we feel is "Key" (shoulder shrug)
If you're into wiring up battery packs, you have to get these connectors. They come in male and female plugs, the plugs are very easy to solder using 60/40 solder, and they even come with shrink wrap for the ends. I have bought the 30, 60, and 90 amp connectors for various projects I have around. I have started making battery packs for model racing enthusiast and I give out extra plugs for their use so my battery packs are always the same as theirs. I would highly recommend these.
Needed to make a couple of sets of connectors. Good product. It was easy enough to solder once I figured out how and it was a huge bonus that it came with shrink wrap which gives it a very nice finished look. The connectors themselves plug into the other connectors perfectly. And the pos/neg is clearly labeled. If you need to make custom xt60 connectors, I recommend this kit. You just need the wire.
I'm using this product to easily connect/disconnect speakers in my car after seeing a recommendation from a professional installer. So far I'm really pleased with them - they friction fit nicely and look and feel very durable. Just remember when you're soldering to have them oriented so the solder flows into the "hole" where the wire is inserted so there's a good connection.
