So far this detector has done me well. It detected every officer that was using the radar.
The ones that didn't detect the camping officers. I speed past, to test and assume the risk involved. It worked flawlessly.
Before buying it, there was a lot of people saying false alarms or something. I wouldn't be quick to think that, because the x/k detector often
goes off. To my knowledge infrared also gives such bands. So if you ever notice it beeping near security cameras, then its working.
As well as newer car models and trucks that can detect other vehicles around them, it doesn't work by magic (i'm pretty sure)
All those sensors and lasers coming off, radio frequencies, this and that.
So realistically, if you do buy this. Watch for KA bands, and slow down. If you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. You're probably not looking hard enough.
Ok. For anyone that has the problem with the false alarms. There is a way, the detector will pick up any signal in sight or off sight as soon as it can sense it. There are X, K, Ka, L bands. X and K are most of the time false alarms, read your manual to turn it off so you never or don't have to ignore it. What you should pay attention are Ka and L. Ka is specifically used by highway patrols and L is normally from the laser guns. For early and best protection, don't turn City mode on. Let it be "Highway" mode. It will maximize the range so you have time to response. I turn off X and K bands. I leave Ka, L, and V/S on and have no problems. It got signal far far away before I saw the patrol. Laser Gun has a shorter Range because it has a higher frequency and because of that you have no time to respond. Police devices will know you have detector so they will use laser gun instead. That is how V/S works, it makes you invisible (according to the manual). When you open it new, some will have it already set up, some will not just like mine. Read the manual and set it up again and you will be fine.
Already paid for itself 😁. I wanted to share with others that it beeps when there are no police cars around. If you hold down the city button until it beeps then the lights change colors. There is a green one that shows when there is a radio frequency on a stop light or another emergency vehicle. When a middle red bar that lights all the way to the top bar and lights up the KA in red in the middle of it, this is an actual police car.
works great!! did save me for a couple times lol where have you been all my whole life?!
What can I say, it works great. Cautionary note though...the cops can sense when you have a radar detector. I flew over a hill where a cop clocked my speeding. When he pulled me over, he knew exactly when my detector alarm went off (and I hit the brakes)!

This product is FCC Compliant.
So I've had this detector for over a month now and it has saved me many times. Just the other day, it detected a cop probably over half a mile away that was over a hill in the grass. However, as you would expect for $60, it is not perfect. It says it offers 360 degree protection, which is true, but it is not as good at picking up signals from the side and rear since the sensor is facing the front.
Additionally, like Ben Nguyen said in his review, basically all the false alarms are X/K band, so turn those off and only pay attention to Ka band.
The only thing that I don't like about it is what they give you to mount it to your windshield; they give you these sticky velcro pieces to stick onto the detector and the suction cups, which has fallen off several times while I'm driving. This is a very minor complaint, just something I thought I would point out.
Overall, this detector is very good and does a very good job for the price. Would definitely recommend getting it if you are on the fence about it.
UPDATE: it picks up the different signals well (radar & laser). Especially the radar, it saved my ass a bunch of times. although it picked up the laser, it was too late... $160 going 80 in a 55... but at least it works 😂 not a lot of false alarms and it gets the waves front and behind me well. Good for the price, great for radar detection, not so much laser 😭
I use my radar detector when i have to travel through New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. It works great in all these states that I traveled. It picks up even little hick sheriffs units in the middle of no where. I am buying a second one. It works great with pop up laser. It has save me thousands of dollars in speeding tickets. I had not gotten one. Today's date is March 2019 and it still works picking up radar. I just have one word "BUY IT". You will love it.
Constantly going off in my retired police car, no just kidding, works great, X/K always goes off in like parking lots near automatic sliding glass doors and Ka is almost always a real officer. Every now and again it won’t pick up a radar until I’ve already passed the cop running it (facing towards or against me) however sometimes it will go off what seems like a mile in advance and has helped a ton.
I love this product. It has saved me from SO many tickets! Tickets in my area are $200-300 so it pays for itself. I love that you can adjust the volume of the alerts so that when you have music blasting, you can hear it well, whereas when you don't have anything playing and just want a smooth, relaxing ride, you just set it to low and it's not as disruptive.
Here are some CONS:
It does get hot, I would say VERY hot in the summer. Hot enough to melt the velcro/glue, which sometimes made it slide off and fall off. I put a rubber band over this and my windshield mount and it doesn't slide off anymore and stays on the windshield nicely.
There are some false positives, such as when you drive by Walgreens or another store with automatic doors.
Doesn't work with the police departments with advanced laser guns. I would say it works with most police departments, but those that have turned up their revenue generation to the max this product may not alert you.
Despite the cons, I still give this 5 stars as it has literally saved me hundreds of dollars worth of tickets. I literally don't get pulled over anymore just because of this thing. HIGHLY recommend!
