In Prevention they mention that just ONE Brazil Nut daily has tremendous health properties..These arrived fast and were super fresh. I keep them in the fridge and my husband and I make sure we have one every day. This is actually OLD news... we have known it for years, but then we stopped buying them because I got a bad batch at a Health Food store... this just reminded us that they were a great idea.We are going to be 80 next year and we are super fit and eat a healthy diet. I am happy that I found a place that I can rely on sending me FRESH nuts.
I usually get a larger bag of Brazil nuts from a bulk food distributor, split it up and share with family members but now that I have relocated, I decided that 5 pounds was a good size for me to keep on hand just for myself. My main concern with even the 5 pound size was that the nuts would be fresh enough for me not to have to worry about the nuts arriving or going rancid.
My husband and I eat several (not too many, just a couple) a day to get our selenium requirements. Did you know that Brazil nuts are said to increase your metabolism, raise testosterone levels, boost your sex drive and possibly help prevent cancer? Hey...count me in!
I have been very pleased with the freshness as well as the taste not to mention how handy the size of the resealable bag is for me to store and handle. I fill a sandwich size baggie for snacking, zip the top of the main bag closed and pop it in the freezer until I need a refill. I don't know if freezing the Brazil nuts is necessary but I would at least refrigerate them or store them in a cool place.
The current price with Prime delivery is about the same as what I was paying for them at the bulk food store and I don't have to haul that heavy bag home. I gave my UPS guy a bag as a late Christmas gift and he really appreciated it!
The huge downside to the Amazon Brand is in the packaging. It has neither a resealable zipper closure nor any sort of carry handle like the Scoop Away package does. This makes it unwieldy to carry, pour from and store. If you have a 4 gallon bucket with a handle and lid you can transfer it into, then don't hesitate to buy this. If not, the bag is a deal breaker in my opinion.
Not really enjoying these. Bought them coz I always liked Brazil Nuts plus I wanted to add the selenium in a natural way. These aren't crunchy so I'll have to say they're on their way to going stale. And the taste is just not there. They're bland. Will not buy again. And such a big bag.... ugh. I'm adding sea salt to make them taste better.
UPDATE - This is weird - I have had these around for some time [months] - and they are crunchier and fresher tasting NOW than when I first received the bag. Maybe being in the bag had them all too moist or something? Not sure. Doesn't matter. I'm enjoying them.
I love nuts! Finding a high quality, fresh, and vacuum packed product that will pass my muster has been a challenge. The ones you buy at those discount stores that are roasted in mystery oil and salt taste pretty bad. My favorite, because when I was a kid in the fifties, these were scarcer than hen's teeth, is Brazil Nuts. So, one day while browsing Amazon, I queried brazil nuts and up came this tempting looking 2 lb bag of shelled raw brazil nuts. I just could not resist. They arrived well packaged and sealed. These babies were something else. No pieces of shell attached, no mystery oil or salt, just fresh raw large brazil nuts. Delicious and worth every penny.
Great product, great price and good for you too. If you love Brazilian nuts, you will love this brand. I highly recommend this super food.

I've been looking for mixed nuts that did not contain peanuts, and found some on another site. It didn't contain any Brazil Nuts, either, so I went on a search. I found ''We Got Nuts'' on this search and they had a big two pound bag of them. They are a good source of selenium, are ant-inflammatory, and have other good vitamins in them. So, since I've explored the WGN site, I found that they ALSO have mixed nuts, and a host of nutritious ideas. The Brazil Nuts are fresh and yummy and I plan to try lots of other things from this site!
I bought these because I love Brazil nuts. I overpaid for Planters Deluxe nuts mix just for the Brazil nuts. But they have been reducing the number in each tin over the years and the last tins I purchased had NONE! I checked the label and they are not even listed anymore. So, from now on I will skip the planters and go with this big bag. They keep very well and when I want a few I grab them. This bigger bag is a better buy and lasts me a good while. I will repurchase.
YUMMY! We have been purchasing raw nuts in bulk from our local health food store and grocery store, and they were crazy expensive, so I decided to try Amazon's subscription service to save money. What we now know is that we were not only paying too much, but we were also getting nuts that were stale. These brazil nuts are fresh, crisp, and flavorful as if I had cracked the shells myself. Definitely staying on subscription for these!
Very fresh and good! I eat 2 of these a day to get the vitamins and minerals that I heard about watching Dr. Oz on TV. Its hard to limit my consumption of these to just 2 because they are so fresh and good. I couldn't find them at any local grocery stores except at Christmas time so I was so pleased that Amazon carried them.
I really like these nuts, but I can't give it 5 stars simply because the flavor isn't terribly rich and delicious. However it's not a bad flavor whatsoever. I just have had others that taste a little bit fresher. I will probably buy these again, though, because they're still pretty good and the price is right. The company seems pretty good as far as I can tell. I had no problems receiving this product, and they've sent some follow-up emails to make sure I have no complaints.
