Thermaltake Versa H15 SPCC Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Chassis CA-1D4-00S1NN-00

This thing rocks!
Took an old system which was in a Rosewill THOR (MASSIVE FULL TOWER) cleaned everything and brought it down effectively to a smaller platform.

PROS:
- Pretty solid and classy feel
- Clean lines
- A few small things to make you smile like the fact that button bezel doesn't move when you remove the front panel (Try installing a radiator without it...... HUGE bonus)
- Great airflow
- Lots of fan mounting options

Cons
- Actual Hard Drives can only go in 1 way to the removable cage (Cable Management OCD :( )
- Long video cards can hit the upright, had to put a couple spacers on the standoffs to let video card "click-in"(Note this is on the same plane as the motherboard,) ie, the upright is 1mm too tall.... if case is laid on its side.
- There should be a bigger Cable management "Bung" towards the top of the motherboard
- The cable Management should also have slightly larger "holes" for many items.

Don't let the cons scare you, this case is an awesome deal, and the best I've ever used for under $50

I bought this case and truly like it a lot. As others have posted, its clean, solid but yet light. Perfect for a Micro ATX setup. Just one thing you should be aware of.

I've been working on PCs for 30 years and one important lesson I've learned is they are like vacuum cleaners. The draw lot of dust in through the large top facing power supply fan when the power supply is mounted with the intake fan facing down. For this reason, I no longer install the power supply with this fan facing the bottom fan vent on any PC case.

By installing the fan pointed toward the bottom, it sucks all the dust and hair right off the surface the PC sits on and before long, the power supply is overheating or burning up. By installing the fan facing up, the fan draws air from inside the rather than from under it. Now I know the outside air is cooler, but with a top vented case like this one, where the heat easily escapes, there is absolutely no issue with facing the fan up.

To my point. With this case, I was unable to mount the fan facing up. Unlike every other case I've purchased, this one only 4 power supply screw holes and they only line up when the power supply is mounted with the fan facing down. The only saving grace is that there is a filter on the bottom of the case to help limit dust from being sucked in, but I guarantee you plenty of dust will get past the filter and clog the power supply.

If you buy this case, or any other case and orient your power supply's intake fan to draw in outside air, ,make sure you clean the inside of the power supply and case by blasting it with a high-pressure air source every few months to get the dust out. This will save you a lot of headaches and expense down the road.

All in all, the case is good and will work for the needs of the modt users it's destined to serve.

Happy Holidays!

LIGHTEST Micro-ATX CASE EVER, EVER!

I utterly despise the weight, bulk, and unwieldiness of most cases. I didn't buy this because I needed a new case, bought to merely replace a junky, hugely heavy, existing case that was utterly tedious to haul around and work on which can now be taken to the metal scrapyard or the the firing range. The price is inexpensive enough where if you have a junky old case WHY NOT replace it with this?

I've thrown away so many case/motherboard/cpu system I've had laying around after years of old upgrades because I was tired of their ugly mismatched heavy bulkyness cluttering my office for years. With this case, at this price, I would have been inspired to move them over and turn them into working systems.

Pros: Almost everything (weight, internal space, no sharp metal, price, build quality)

Cons: Single external-access 5.25 drive bay, 3 internal drive bays require backplate removal, single PCI replacement slot cover, plastic front/back cover hand-removable screws--not metal.

I would like to say this is a great bang for your buck! It’s small yet not tight, the airflow is amazing, and it’s sturdy/simplistic.

I had a mid tower prior to this case with a Micro ATX installed. It was bent and warped so I ended up wanting a smaller case. This is a simple case that really is attractive. They do make the glass panel but I bought the all metal model because why not. For $30 you can’t really go wrong. It comes with one fan and enough space for a big GFX card plus a slot for a DVD drive (yeah in 2018). I paired it up with 2 white LED fans and it looks good! I would like to also point out that THERE IS ENOUGH SPACE FOR THE DVD DRIVE!!! Some reviews complained about not being enough space when they are probably installing it wrong or the motherboard they are installing is not a micro ATX.

Now for the airflow which is what I am really impressed at. From my previous case with a water cooler (very basic one), CPU has hit the 50’s when gaming regularly. With this case, it idles in the high 20’s and doesn’t go past the mid 40’s. Overall I am 10 Celsius cooler! Sucking air in from the front and tossing it out from the top or rear is the best way to go.

For a small case, the cable management is great as well. I was able to hide most of the cables (this PSU does have a lot) within the back panel or in the hard drive bay. Can’t complain for a small case.

I can talk about this case all day honestly but overall, I am very satisfied and so will you if you have a Micro ATX setup.

This review is for the model: H15/18 Micro ATX

Overall Pros:
-great airflow
-great cable management
-small yet very roomy on the inside

I chose this case for my first PC build! Choosing the case was the toughest part of my build!!! I chose this one because: I don't have a lot of components, I'm using a smaller mATX board, and I specifically wanted a smaller, simple case to work with. And of course the price is great.

My build is as follows:
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core
Motherboard: MSI - B450M BAZOOKA Micro ATX AM4
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws 4 Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" SSD
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB GT OCV1
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
Monitor: Viewsonic VX2758 27" Curved 144Hz

It arrived in excellent packaging with no damaged parts. Good instructions, with enough extra screws, plus an extra fan cable. Beginner tip: Before installing your mobo, make sure ALL of the riser screws are present, because I had to go back and add two that I missed. It only included 4 risers already screwed in, but I needed two more for my mobo. (And they include the 2 extra).

Tip: Install the fans first! I installed two 140mm fans in the front, and an additional 120mm fan on the top. Airflow is great, and so far temps in the case average 30C and CPU is always under 40. Includes 2 magnetic dust panels, one for the top fan and one for the bottom panel for the PSU. As another reviewer has cautioned: if you install a 140mm top fan, it might bump into your motherboard, so probably best to stick with 120. The bottom of the case has about an inch of clearance, which makes good airflow for the power supply.

The cable management is excellent, as you can see in the pictures. (Especially if you have a modular PSU). All the front panel connectors were bundled nicely together with really long wires. Plenty of spaces to fish wires through, and I had no headaches trying to tuck things away or connect everything.

Opinions: I love the look of this case, inside and out. The PSU cover makes everything look clean and organized inside. I sorta wish the glass wasn't tinted so I could admire my PC parts more clearly, but admittedly it's more classy with a tint. The blue LED strip on the front is kind of tacky/pointless, but you can turn it off if you want. It's well made, too. Front panel was hard to pry off, (it's def snug and secure) but plastic inserts stayed in tact.

Excellent case for the money, highly recommended to any new builder or someone looking for a smaller case with plenty of room on the inside.

For a budget Micro ATX case, this comes at a great price with a lot of really nice modern features you often don't find in a Micro ATX case at this price point, but it also suffers a couple of serious design flaws that may or may not effect you (more on that later).

THE STRONG POINTS OF THIS CASE:
Media Bays:
It has all the features you'd see in much larger and more expensive full-size ATX cases... it has a 5.25 external drive bay for your DVD/Bluray Drive... it has a removeable 3.5" bay and multiple dedicated 2.5" connection points (this is REALLY RARE for budget Micro ATX cases). You can also choose to hide your 2.5" drives on the backside of the case if you choose (as I did).

Cable Management:
It also comes with a fairly impressive cable management system (once again, fairly rare in this price segment), it has a large bulge on the back side panel as this adds a good amount of "packing" room on the back side of the case to tuck away all your excess cables... the bulge also gives you some pretty good space to pack it full of cables if you're using a non-modular PSU as I am in one of my builds. Speaking of the backside, there is a cutout to access the backside of the CPU area of your MB, in case you need to install/remove a CPU bracket from the backside without having to pull the MB out of the case.

Airflow:
There are connection points for up to FIVE (yes count-em), five 120mm case fans... I could argue that if you need five case fans, you probably shouldn't be building in a MicroATX format, but whatever, the option is there if you need/want it. I bought a 3-pack of 120mm LED fans for my case. If you handle your cable management well, this is a very spacious MATX case with little to get in the way of airflow.

Filters:
There is a large foam mesh on the front to filter any intake fans you install on the front of the case... the panel is also easily removable for cleaning as the front i/o ports are attached to the top of the case, not the front panel. There is also an easily removable dust filter for the PSU intake on the bottom of the case. I did add an after-market magnetic dust filter to the top of the case to help keep the dust out. You can see it in one of the pictures, but it did not come with the case. This would be an easy add-on if you decide to get this case and want to keep dust out.

Personally i'm used to the older style cases with the PSU above the MB and no cable management, so i was quite pleased to find these newer features in this case... and for an old-schooler like me, I included my DVD drive... which brings me to...

THE DESIGN FLAWS OF THIS CASE:
Yes, they are here... and let me start by saying this... This case will NOT fit all Micro-ATX MBs in it if you want to use the Cable Management or the DVD Drive bay, as both will be blocked-off if you use a full-size (maximum dimensions) MATX MB in this case... oh, you can fit a full size MATX MB in this case, but it will both block-off the cable management system and the DVD drive bay.

The maximum size of a microATX motherboard is 9.6 × 9.6 in (244 × 244 mm)... and if you have three mounting screw holes along the top of your Motherboard, then yes, you have a 9.6x9.6in MB and the MB will end up covering the cable management holes and prevent a DVD drive from fully mounting in the case (you might be able to use it, but it will be jutting out the front... other reviewers have mentioned this).

There are some MATX motherboards that go beyond the second mounting hole, but fall short of the third mounting hole, and I played around with some spare MBs to see what fits and doesn't fit in this case... i've also provided a picture with a ruler to show you where things line-up. These are my recomendations for different size MB use in this case:

Able to use all features of the case, including cable management and a DVD drive inserted fully into case:
Maximum MB Width: 8in (203mm)

Able to install a DVD drive fully, but will probably lose most of the cable management holes:
Maximum MB Width: 8.5in (215mm)

Remember, you CAN use a full-size Micro ATX MB in this case, but it will cover up the cable management holes and prevent a DVD drive from being fully inserted into this case... now if you have a small enough MATX MB, these issues will never crop up and you'll be able to use this case to its full potential, and I must say, it's a wonderful case with a small enough MB [for reference, the MB I used in the pictures in this review has a width of 6.8in (173mm)].

CONCLUSIONS:
I saw many mixed reviews on this case some saying how awesome it was, 5-stars, and others saying they absolutely hated it, ruined cable management or wouldn't fit a DVD drive... i really wanted to get to the bottom of the conflicting reviews, and it all boils down to how big (or not so big) is the MB you install in this case... I have narrowed it down to exactly what will and won't work in this case to the best of my abilities, and provided pictures with measurements for folks to be able to see what the issues are here. Please pay heed to this review... this IS A GREAT CASE, if you use the right sized MB... and it IS A TERRIBLE CASE, if you use the wrong sized MB... you have been warned!

Overall, because I know the limitations of this case and was able to work around that, I really do love this case, my first build in this case had a red theme, it turned-out so nice, I ended-up buying a second case (green theme) for my home (I have four PCs in my home)... it's not a perfect case by any means... but for this price point and if you know what to watch out for, it can be a very nice case you will enjoy.

This is a great little case. It's only little compared to the giant gaming rigs you see. It's really a mini or mid tower. It does have one external bay for an optical drive, which I am using. I still like to be able to burn DVD's or CD's occasionally. I like that both sides open, and there is easy access for installing a CPU cooler. Just beware of setting it on deep carpeting, you will block the bottom cooling vent for for the power supply.

There is room to install 5 120mm case fans--2 top, 2 front, 1 rear.. I also have a pretty good size CPU cooler that's overkill for my 65-watt Skylake processor, it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TUKLAHI/ Thanks to the front mesh and case fans, it runs cool and quiet.

This case was purchased to be used in my son's first gaming PC build. Aesthetically, the case is great. Of course, that is purely subjective, but we love it. It is a very simple design, but still lets my son see his lighted fans, which at his age is all he cares about in regards to how the case looks. The case structure is decently solid, but the side panels are pretty flimsy and there are a couple sharp edges. Not enough to warrant much concern during the build process, though. Installation of the front intake fan(s) is pretty awesome thanks to how simplified it is. The fans snap into place on the back side of the front filter. Having the fans snapped into place does mean you will likely have to remove them to clean the filter, though. The intake fans at the front of the case are extremely hindered in their ability to move much air due to the way the hard drive cages are positioned behind them. If you have multiple 3.5" hard drives installed in the bottom bays, you can basically discount the bottom front intake fan's throughput. The same would hold true for the top front fan if you had multiple 2.5" drives installed in the upper bays. The hard drive trays themselves are horribly flimsy, but seem to work well enough and do not rattle about or cause any other noise due to excess vibration. Their is only one re-attachable slot cover on the case. If you need to use the slots below the first one, you have break them off permanently. Everything else about the case was fine. Motherboard installation and hiding cables/wires was pretty easy. At this price point, and after owning many high end, modular cases, I honestly had very low expectations for this case. I was quite pleased with the quality once we received it, and very happy that the case well exceeded my expectations.

I'm genuinely impressed with the features this case offers for it's modest price. I decided to purchase this case for a very inexpensive build I was doing for my father. He doesn't need a gaming machine or any fancy bells-and-whistles but I wanted a case that would be easy to build in and still remain very cheap. I saw this Thermaltake case and saw that it offered some cable management options and a bottom-mounted power supply while few other cases in the sub-50-dollar bracket offered. (At least the ones I bothered checking out.)

The case is very light and the panels are thin, but it's what I expect for $40. It's plenty rigid, though, I didn't experience any weird flexing or anything. It comes with only one exhaust fan; there are no intake fans included. I was surprised however to see that there are mounts on the front and the top that could accommodate liquid cooling solutions. I'm pretty sure you could fit a double rad in the front and maybe even the top. The front intake has a mesh dust filter and the whole cover pops off easily. The bottom-mounted power supply also has a dust filter on the bottom which was another nice surprise.

The case was easy enough to build in and hand sufficient room to work around inside (for being a micro-ATX case). There are cable management cutouts along the side and bottom of the motherboard tray. The cutouts are NOT rubberized or grommeted but also do not have any sharp edges. The hard drive cage is removable with two thumbscrews. I opted to completely remove the cage and install a SSD on the backside of the case with double-sided tape. Speaking of the backside of the case, there isn't much room behind the motherboard tray. I'm a bit more accustomed to some room behind the tray and the side panel to hide and stuff excess wiring. It got most of it routed back there but it was a monumental pain to get the panel back on, there's just a few centimeters at most between the motherboard tray and the panel. There is a very large cutout in the motherboard tray behind the CPU so installing an aftermarket CPU cooler should be easy without pulling the whole motherboard out. The front panel connectors were plenty long enough for my motherboard and easy to install. The power light is a nice blue and the drive activity light is red. They look good and take up just a very small sliver along the front panel.

If I had to do another budget build I would definitely get this case again. I think it looks good, it's pretty minimalistic and has the features that I'd want in a case at a very affordable price point. I'd even go as far as to say it's a good case for watercooling on a budget. If you want to save money on the case and put more money into a liquid cooler this would be a good way to do it. There's plenty of room up front to stick an AIO watercooler and a couple 120mm fans. My biggest complaint is there just needs to be a bit more room behind the motherboard tray for cable management.

I used this to build a basic PC for a coworker who wanted to keep costs at a minimum, and I really feel this case is much nicer than the price indicates. The gauge of the metal did feel slightly thinner than the Corsair cases I used for some previous builds, but it still felt plenty solid. I imagine things might get a bit tight for a hard core gaming build, but I had room to spare with only one SSD, one HDD, and one optical drive. And speaking of the optical drive, I really didn't understand the reviews that said an optical drive wouldn't fit. This is a micro ATX case and I use a Gigabyte micro ATX board (GIGABYTE GA-H110M-A LGA1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard), and there was about 5 inches of space between the back of the drive and the edge of the board, so I guess there is something I'm not understanding from those reviews.

I really liked the HDD cage that was easy to take out and put back in via a pair of thumb screws, along with the tool-less HDD rails that made hard drive installation a literal snap. I liked the tool-less optical drive mechanism a lot less and I just opted for good old fashioned screws to hold the CD/DVD drive in place. The cable management was pretty decent, so the end result was nice and uncluttered. The lone included exhaust fan is very quiet and one would have to put their ear right against it to even to begin to hear it.

All-in-all, a great little case for the money for a clean and efficient build. Highly recommended.
