Orlando California Grapes Leaves, 16 Ounce

Orlando California Grapes Leaves, 16 Ounce

I got my Greek on and decided to try making Dolmades on my own. I agree with other posters about getting these out of the jar. A Greek cookbook said to just slide them out. The good news is that the jar is jam packed and we get our money's worth. The bad news is it might taking someone showing me how to "just slide them out." I eventually got them out without mangling them. Once they're out, of course they range in size. They're leaves! My cookbook said to boil water, remove the pot of water from the stove and let the leaves sit in the water for ten minutes before working with them.

There's plenty of leaves in the jar. I'm happy with the quality and the taste.

Great! Very satisfied. Grape leaves in jars are difficult to find where my husband and I are living right now.
These were high quality, good size, intact Grape leaves, suitable for making stuffed Grape leaves/Dolmas. I
really appreciated the number of quality/suitable leaves for stuffing per jar, that is not always true with some
manufacturers. Keep up the good work Orlando. I am counting on you!

Some reviewers seem to think these grape leaves are low quality, and I can only imagine they have never made real dolmas, perhaps only the crap dolmas they sell in restaurants here. If you want authentic Armenian-style dolmas, these are the best product you can get in the US for that besides going down to Napa, California yourself to purchase the fresh, raw product. These grape leaves are large, excellent quality, soft, and as fresh as the canned product gets. The dolmas my Armenian wife made with them are some of the best she has made, and she agrees they are a great product. The only complaint she had is how many leaves they crammed into a small space, but that's no biggie, just goes to show how dedicated they are to maximizing value for the customer- though I would recommend a slightly larger container :D

I have always been so-so on grape leaves, but I was assigned the mezzo platter for a Greek-themed dinner and it was an obvious choice. A Greek friend passed me her mom's recipe and it specified Orlando brand grape leaves. I am not entirely sure whether it was the leaves or whether all of the other time I've tried grape leaves they weren't prepared properly, but the stuffed grape leaves were by far the best I've ever had. I started by washing them several times. Then I brought a large pot of water to a boil, tossed the leaves in, turned off the heat, and allowed them to steep for an hour. Absolutely stunning appetizer. I highly recommend these grape leaves.

In Florida is impossible to find fresh grape leaves. So this is the only option if you want to cook stuffed grape leaves. The jar came well protected, the leaves are healthy and they cook fast. The only problem is that more than half are so small you need to use 2 or even 3 leaves for one stuffed roll. I did that because I didn't want to throw them away I don't have a picture but just to get an idea there are maybe 10 big leaves the rest are the size of a pack of cigarettes. you can stuff those too individual if you like but only if you use only a full tea spoon of stuffing. that would take too much time and patience. At least for me.

Nice, big not broken. Best grape leaves I ever bought.

I noticed on YouTube that several cooks used these grape leaves to make their stuffed grape leaf recipes. Since this was my first attempt I figured I would follow their lead. Glad I did. The grape leaves were perfect and I have no complaints about their quality. My only gripe is that I had difficulty getting the leafs out of the jar. They are rolled and packed tightly, it took several minutes to extract them from the jar. This is a minor complaint in the big scheme of things.

I've had these about a month and still am not finished with the jar. So many grape leaves! They can be filled with a variety of things to make excellent dolmas, Greek wraps or whatever you decide to create. I'm still experimenting. 5 stars for the taste and sturdiness (meaning, fill 'em up and don't worry about the ingredients breaking through!)

I used these last night to make Dolmas, and they taste exactly like the ones I had in greece. I couldn't be happier. The only problem is I still have most of them left, so I just need to figure out what to do with all these grape leaves :)

This brand was perfect for my dolmadas. It turned out great and I didn't expect the amount of leaves. It's a lot per jar which is good. This is my 2nd purchase and will purchase more so I have it in my pantry in case I crave for dolmadas again.
