I purchased these as a gift to myself--to give to my husband when he plays video games! I hated having to listen to guns shooting, grenades going off and calling for airstrikes late at night.
Since purchasing this headset for him, I am much happier!
I can now sleep or read in peace while the game sounds are quietly confined to his headset!
He says they are comfortable and the mic works great,
It has been a win-win for us both.
Best for BOTH of us!
I had previously purchased other headsets for gaming on my PS4 and returned them every time. It seems to me like most of the headsets out there are probably great for PC gaming, but not for PS4, and the few headsets specifically designed for PS4 are either horrible, uncomfortable, or very expensive.
I am very picky with my sound because audio is the key to feel deep into the game (especially with horror games). When I bought this headset, I was about ready to give up, this was gonna be my last try or I was just gonna give up on using a headset. To my surprise and my delight, the sound is just great. The bass is great, the volume is great as well (can't play with full volume or I'll go deaf), and the headset itself is stylish and very comfortable. I am so pleased with my purchase. I would totally recommend this headset, in fact, 2 of my friends have already got it after trying mine on.
Update:
After testing this headset for about 3 hours last night, i love it. Sound quality is awesome, surround sound is great, allows me to hear the animals and foot steps and whatnot in my hunting game. Same with Far Cry 5 when i'm out hunting game to get extra cash, i can tell if they're behind me to the left of right or whatever.
Volume control doesn't allow it to go as loud as my previous headset, and the noise cancellation of the padding isn't as good, so if the portable AC and fan are on the room it's a little harder to hear those quiet sounds.
My comment about the size of the headphones was wrong. The pads on these are thicker and more comfy than my previous headset, i just have to twist a bit to get my ears in the pad, guess my ears are big. And after 3 hours of wearing them last night i had no sore spots on my ears like my previous headset.
Just got the headset from UPS, have yet to really test it out. Giving it 4 stars as it's lighter than my previous headset and the sound quality is awesome.
So far i've connected it to my laptop here at the office via USB and the lights on the headset and the end of the mic boom work. Sound quality listening to Pandora and Amazon Music is really really good. I was surprised at the quality actually.
For the last 2.5 years i've been using an EcoPro headset -
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RCBHZP8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Loved that headset for the cheap price and great sound. Downside was in the summer the ear pads would make me sweat. And after 3 or 4 hours of game play where my ears were pressing against the speaker would start be become uncomfortable.
But that headset finally died on me so here I am testing out this Onikuma headset.
Right off the bat there's one thing i don't like. The earphones are smaller than 50mm. The EcoPro headset i had before was 50mm, and my ears fit inside the padding on it just fine. On this Onikuma headset i'm guessing it's 40mm. Just putting it on my head, the pads rest on the edges of my ears. I have to adjust the headset so my ears go inside the diameter of the pads, and that i'm pretty sure will be uncomfortable after a couple hours of game play. They felt weird just the 30 minutes i tested them on the my lunch break, so i'm sure after a 3 hour session my ears will be aching.
Then again maybe they just need broken in? Time will tell.
Allegedly a $60 headset dropped to $28, an excellent price. The sound quality for this price range is unusually great. It has full surround sound, where the sound moves based on direction, and a BALANCED sound: not overbearing bass or highs while both are still present. Though the high end frequency range is limited, it is no more so than any other headset at these prices (for true high fidelity you would need a $300+ set with an amp for minimal audiophile sound) and with a wide range of volume control on an analog wheel.
It is the only headset in this price range that actually comes with a year warranty. The other low price headsets that reviews are complaining about break and they are out of luck. Not so with the Onikuma.
Another common complaint is long term wear causing fatigue or pain. There is no discomfort after long term wear. After ten hours (in a one day session) of use the Onikuma headset is just as comfortable as when I began. The cups comfortably cover the ears so there is no need to shove your ears into the cups to reduce outside noise. I have already been yelled at to get my attention. If you want true noise cancelling you are not in the proper price range.
The microphone is very sensitive and clear. It will pick up outside noise if another person is gaming nearby yet my voice comes through above it all. It seems to be a clean quadrupole connector i.e. there is no crosstalk that I have been told about. The others in my team do not have to listen to themselves echo.
Please note: This set does NOT require an xbox adapter unless you are playing with an original xbox one controller. All new controllers work. Just plug in the 3.5mm jack and update the controller drivers while the headset is plugged into the controller (settings-devices-accessories-controller-more options). No problems. It comes with a bifurcated splitter and plugs into the PC with no extra parts.
Though not a Japanese company, it is called ONIKUMA or "demon bear" in Japanese. What more do you need?
9/10 - These things are awesome. The quality of the stitching is outstanding, and the cushions are like pillows. The adapter included is properly sized and helpful. The beautiful blue glow is a nice contrast to the dark if you are playing at night. I tried them out on Doom, the newest, and I was impressed with the base, frequency range, mid range is excellent, and they punch. So why they 1 star reduction? They are not VERY loud. I say this with a bias, and I understand it is a bias. I am a veteran and as such have some hearing issues. At full volume these are just 9/10ths of the way to as loud as I would like. The key word is like, they work just fine and are exactly what is advertised, they were packed safely and arrived early. This is an awesome buy! Don't bother shopping around unless you were in EOD, Explosives Ordinance Disposal, then maybe you need something louder?

...partner (who lives 700 miles away in Wisconsin), said my voice was the most crystal clear he'd heard it in ages. -Bludingutz
The outgoing sound is equally as clear, and the mic only pics up what it should pick up. Background noise will not key up your mic, and you will hear no static. -Angie Dennis
- About Comfort Level
...After I received mine, I immediately used it for a 5-hour gaming session. I wear glasses, which sometimes can be annoying while wearing headsets and start to feel painful after a while. I didn't feel any discomfort even after 5 hours. Both the cushioning on the top and the pads around the ears are very comfortable, and they seem durable too. -Joost Op 't Eynde
I wear glasses, and I've usually found that over-the-ear headphones are really painful after a while. As such, I usually default to earbuds, which allow me to listen to music for longer periods of time. However, I saw these headphones and figured I'd give them a try. And you know what? They're really comfortable, even with glasses on! I have them extended, so that they aren't pulling up on my ears at all (so they're just resting on my head and over my ears), and they're very comfortable -David Mortenson

Full disclosure: There was a card that came with my headphones which offered a free gaming mouse if I provided a review of these headphones. It did not require a positive review, but as you'll see here, I do have a favorable opinion. I bought these headphones with my own money.
The first thing I noticed was the design. These headphones look really good. It definitely looks like a gaming headset, but not too wild. I actually got these to use at work for web conferencing.
Design: These headphones look really good. These are nice to look at, but also seem designed with function in mind. The mic (on the left side) swivels up and down depending on your needs.
Build quality: This headset feels very sturdy. I can twist it without any problem and there is no sound of stress.
Materials: The headset itself is mostly plastic, with some metal used in the adjustable support piece. The ear pieces use a very soft leather-like material. It has a very high quality feel.
Cord: The cord is really good. This is a braided material cord - not plastic. This is really important, and I'm surprised the manufacturer did not point this out better in the description. These braided cords are much better than plastic, which always wears out. With the braided cord, it has a much more durable feel, and should hold up far better over time than plastic.
Connectivity: The USB connector is only for powering the LEDs. You still need to plug the 3.5mm connector (4-band) into your computer which will give you audio and mic. There is also an included adapter to give you dedicated audio, and dedicated mic, if your computer or console requires it.
Comfort: These look big, but are very comfortable, and do not feel heavy to wear. I have used these for teleconferencing as well as gaming, and I'm very pleased with how comfortable these are.
Audio quality: Sound quality is good. I don't have a scientific way to describe the audio quality compared to anything else, but for gaming and teleconferencing, I'm perfectly happy with the audio quality.
Value: If these were much more expensive, I'd say these would still be worth the cost, but for less than $30, this is an incredible value in my opinion.
I have never bought or used any products from Onikuma before now, but I'm impressed with what I've experienced so far.
This is a great headset!
After I received mine, I immediately used it for a 5-hour gaming session. I wear glasses, which sometimes can be annoying while wearing headsets and start to feel painful after a while. I didn't feel any discomfort even after 5 hours. Both the cushioning on the top and the pads around the ears are very comfortable, and they seem durable too. It does a good job sealing out noise by fitting over your ears, and the sound quality is great, which makes for an immersive gaming experience.
The microphone arm seems sturdy, and looks neat even flipped up when not in use. This part is often the most vulnerable piece of the headset, but I'm confident this one will last me for quite some time. Communicating in the game, the sound was perfectly clear without noise according to my friends. The LED lights on the microphone and the ears are a nice aesthetic addition too.
The cable is a combined microphone/audio cable, but it comes with a splitter in case your device has separate inputs for these. The cable is quite long which is nice if you're seated a little further away from your screen. It comes with a USB connector attached too, which is to power the LED lights, so you don't have to plug that one in if you don't want to.
And I got all of this for a great price! You might be able to find 'better' headsets out there, but not for this price. This was an extremely good deal and I'm wondering why I didn't get one sooner. I use it every day, including as regular headphones without using the microphone.
Purchased these for use with the PS4 and PS4 pro in our house...
Compared to similar products in the same price range, these are definitely a good gaming headset for the CASUAL gamer.
SOUND:
Definition of sound is good for identifying direction and distance of sounds in game (i.e. footsteps, shots, etc.) These are not TB, so don't expect perfection, but good enough to recognize if someone is down the hall (or creeping up behind you :P)
Sound of teammates' voice is clear.
MIC:
So far, friends tell me the voice from mic on my end is clear, not too loud, and no static or feedback.
COMFORT:
These are not quite as comfortable as the ONIKUMA II, which I purchased to replace another cheap set I tried (beexcellent - most comfortable headset ever, garbage sound)
The mic is stiff - not very adjustable (just moves up and down) but far enough out of the way to just play without if playing solo.
DURABILITY:
These are well-made with sturdy construction and heavy material - should hold up longer than the TB brand I used to dump over $100 a year into!
The USB cord that comes off of headphone jack is a little annoying as it comes out right where cord plugs into PS4 controller - wish it were a plug in port instead of extra cord hanging off...
The lights from usb cord work, but need to be plugged directly into system, so without an extension this will NOT work for PS4 players.
For overall value, I would recommend these to anyone that wants an edge in the game without taking a huge chunk out of their wallet.
Great for the late-night gamer that doesn't want to wake the family.
The ONIKUMA II is a little more comfortable for longer sessions - especially for me with glasses - but for short (hour or less) sessions, these are my go-to.
So far so good. Construction of materials seems heavy duty (certainly for the price). The instructions are easy (they're gaming headphones, I would imagine most people that game could figure this out anyway)... however I liked the little card they included that explains what devices worked with which connection (I'm using PC, but they had all the other major gaming boxes listed... and I guess one of them requires another adapter that wasn't included... if I recall the product description in Amazon says that).
Good audio quality... I have some Bose QC35 headphones... these are not those... but then again, hard to compare nearly $300 to $30. ;)
Anyway, just ordered these and have only used one day... I definitely like that they feel sturdy.
I've been using this headset for a week, and I think they're fantastic.
1. The sound quality is excellent! While gaming, heard a lot of lilttle details I usually miss with speakers. No static or hiss
2. The mic is also excellent: my gaming partner (who lives 700 miles away in Wisconsin), said my voice was the most crystal clear he'd heard it in ages;
3. VERY comfortable. I wear glasses (a gamer who wears glasses? who knew?), and I've always had problem with over the ear headsets digging my glasses into the side of my head, but not with these. Once I adjusted the width properly, they were like pillows over my ears.
4. The little control pod is as easy as it gets: volume roller, and microphone mute, within easy reach.
5. Plugged right in using the stereo and mic jack (also has USB) - no hassle, schmassle!
6. nice long cord
For this quality, you can't beat this price.
UPDATE: still working great. The usb cable is for power to the blue led lights on the headseat only. This headset is NOT VOIP.
