Apple TV Remote

Apple TV Remote

I typically read negative reviews before I decide which product to pick, and was pretty skeptical about replacing a remote for an older Apple TV ... mine's so old I didn't know if it was a 1st or 2nd generation. This arrived within 2 days, we took it out of the package (which proved to be the hardest part of the whole replacement process), pointed it at the TV, and it works like a charm. No pairing, no problems, no issues. I think the people who write the bad reviews don't realize their problems may run a bit deeper than the remote. So if you have an older generation Apple TV, this is your simplest choice for a replacement. As a side note, I am taking the advice of the reviewer who said they were putting this inside a snack sized sandwich bag to protect it! Awesome idea.

So I walked into the living room last week to find my two year old with the original Apple TV remote in her mouth. It worked fine after that until it dried and then the enter button was stuck in the down position. This rendered the remote useless.

I frantically looked online to see if I could still buy a remote for the Apple TV since it was so old and low and behold I found this one!!!

I bought it just thinking that it was some cheap knockoff item, because since when is ANYTHING from Apple this cheap?

I reluctantly opened my amazon pacage to see what it looked like and how hard it was to set up.

I read the quick instructions from Apple and it paired within 6 seconds and works flawlessly!!!

If you need an old remote, BUY THIS One!!

I have an aluminum remote previously and this one is the same. However, it would not work and it would not pair either. I took a picture of the directions from Apple and that word I had a whole day on the menu key and the left arrow for six seconds and then it started working.

Apple was smart to make these small enough to get lost or children's little fingers to carry them off. It's a racket to charge more than half the amount of the Apple TV for the remote, but must have one to make it work. Recommend once you get a replacement you sync your phone so you don't have to worry about replacing this a second time.

A dog I was watching decided to chew up the original. So this is an exact replacement of an apple remote, I used for my apple TV.

It's the Apple Remote, no more no less. If you need an actual Apple remote, this is it.

I had to reset my AppleTV to get it to talk to this remote (pairing didn't work), but I blame that on the 1st gen AppleTV not this remote (since nothing had to change with the remote for it to work).

Honestly, we have the first HD 1080 Apple TV and we don't really use it much. Actually thought it was broken, its been sitting for years, and I finally looked at it and discovered it was the remote. This remote was super cheap on sale, I didn't expect much. It was OME Apple merchandise, sealed in original packaging. Point at Apple TV and it works. (replaces your old aluminum remote and looks just like it a great price $12. Very pleased.

I really HATE the stupid "track pad" remote that came with the Gen 4. This one worked perfect and was automatically recognized by the Apple TV.. No more frustration.

Genuine Apple product and great price too.

I can't believe I waited so long to order a replacement remote. I waited literally months, bc I just didn't even think to consider that a real, working, replacement would be available on Amazon. I am an Amazon wh*re so the fact I was so dumb is just something Ill have to deal with on my own. But away from that, this remote was perfect. I did not need to unpair or pair anything. I simply pointed and clicked. I had been using the remote app on my phone and it is actually really helpful if you have to type anything like a username or password, bc god forbid apple make that easy to do with this friggin remote. But otherwise the remote works flawlessly, was reasonably priced, and I have no regrets. BTW for reference I have an original Apple TV, it might POSSILY a 2nd gen... but Im not sure. Either way, its older than whats out now. Everything works great.

My toddler made our first Apple TV remote magically disappear and when we still hadn't found it in the course of a move six months later we decided it was probably gone for good. Super tired of using the app on our phones for every little command, I checked Amazon and loe and behold here was just what I needed! I bought this and the silicon cover everyone recommends and BOOM! Back in business and so much better than using it bare. No more slipping out of your hands or down beneath the couch cushions, and no more wincing as the toddler bangs the remote on hard surfaces. It worked almost straight out of the box but like some other people the regular pairing commands did not get it done. I did what some other reviewers had mentioned and used the opposite directional button if I recall correctly and it immediately paired.
