Soylent Meal Replacement Shake, Cafe Coffiest / Cafe Mocha, 14 oz Bottles, Pack of 12 (Packaging May Vary)

Soylent Meal Replacement Shake, Cafe Coffiest / Cafe Mocha, 14 oz Bottles, Pack of 12 (Packaging May Vary)

Let's just get right to it.
Overall: All Soylent drinks are thick and a bit grainy. They all have a weird aftertaste as well. Any of these drinks should be paired with a tall glass of water. The caffeine is actually really strong in these drinks and wake me up almost instantly. It's weird, even normal coffee doesn't do that for me.
Coffiest: 8/10 It's got this kind of burnt taste that you'll hate or love, but I like it. It's got a hint of chocolate in it, but more importantly, the weird aftertaste is least apparent in this one.
Vanilla: 7/10 I was worried this would be some milky drink, but it's actually a coffee drink as well. Actually a pretty good taste, but for some reason, it feels a bit more goopy than the Coffee one. The vanilla is pretty strong too. Not bad.
Chai: Kill me/10 This is straight up gross, especially if you like Chai. Imagine a Chai Tea Latte, mixed with flour, then blended with actual crayons. Can you imagine that taste? Well that's exactly what this tastes like. Absolutely horrendous.

I just love Soylent. I'm losing weight, it's affordable, it's easy, and it's fast.

I'm not somebody who hates food. I am somebody who loves it way too much. The best compliment I give to Soylent is that it is unoffensive. This meticulously well balanced human fuel is so delightfully bland in both flavor and texture that it triggers absolutely no desire to have a second bottle. It's hands down the most successful meal replacement I've ever had.

When I finish my morning Soylent, I am simply done fueling my body, and ready to move on for the next several hours. Like putting gas in the car.

Here's a few tips for anyone about to try it:

DO NOT chug your Soylent. Soylent is to be sipped slowly. You can speed it up a little bit when you're more accustomed to it. I drank my first bottle in 3 big gulps. 15 minutes later I threw up. I was not cool. Don't be like me.

Drink TONS of water. Use the daily recommended 8 glasses (4 pints, 2 liters, 1/2 gallon, whatever helps you count it), but add an additional 12-16 oz that you sip with your Soylent. It comes in liquid form, but it helps to think of it as a solid, and a particularly dehydrating solid at that.

Be ready to use the toilet shortly after, at least for the first few times. YMMV.

I've been ordering Soylent through Amazon for over a year now. I've tried multiple flavors, and to be honest, I've digged every one of them. This though, by far, is my favorite.. the Coffiest. I know personal palate is different for everyone but the best I way I can describe it is: don't go into it thinking it'll taste like a Starbucks Frappe, cause it's not. It does have some chalkiness to it with some hint of coffee. It's not powdery and metallic tasting like most every other protein or meal-replacement shake though, it's smooth, easy to digest and fills you up. Eat 400 calories and simple ingredients, it's a great easy meal for busy lives or when you just want more simplicity in keeping track of what you eat.

I primarily use it as a meal replacement during the day, usually for breakfast and / or lunch. It helps keep my calories and nutrient intake easy to manage and track. I don't want to flaunt it as a "diet" drink, but it definitely has helped me keep the pounds off. And though it may seem pricey, it comes down to just around $3 per bottle, which is more than half if not more than what you'd spend eating out or trying to cook something from scratch.

All in all, do eat your food when you can, make healthy choices, but this is a great supplement or addition to whatever lifestyle you have. And at it's core, it's a great prepper food to keep alongside your zombie-apocolpyse wares in the basement / safe.

I decided to try Soylent after hearing about it on my favorite podcast (Stuff You Should Know), and I am so glad I did! I am a busy young professional who is moderately health obsessed. I do normally indulge in a weekly cheat meal, but I found myself eating out WAY too often (several times a week) when I started a very competitive and time consuming job. Once I didn't have the time to meticulously prepare everything I ate, I began gaining weight and losing energy.

I put off trying Soylent because I am a picky eater and wasn't willing to drop $40 on something I may not be able to take two sips of, but I decided to take the risk. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID! I am now drinking half a bottle of Soylent every morning for breakfast and the other half around 3pm, and it has completely changed my diet for the better. I am no longer starving throughout the day and binging on takeout when I finally get the chance to eat. I am losing weight, saving money, and finally getting back to my regular workouts. I wouldn't drink it for every meal, but being able to satisfy my hunger throughout the day with Soylent, a nutrition bar, and fresh fruits and veggies allows me to take the time to cook a simple healthy meal for dinner when I get home, and gives me easy energy for a quick workout in the morning.

The taste is pretty bland. Not as delicious as ice cream, but you don't have to force yourself to drink it like a protein shake. I actually enjoy it and find myself looking forward to drinking it every morning. I did have to switch to the original in the afternoon, because the caffeine was keeping me up at night. However, I love the coffee for the morning because it replaces my breakfast and my coffee without the jittery caffeine high or the crash a few hours later.

THANK YOU, SOYLENT!

Stop thinking about it, and just try it. You won't regret it.

I have been drinking the various soylent flavors, mainly as breakfast and lunch replacements at work, for about a year now. There's not a whole lot to say about them that hasn't already been said. There is nothing magical about them, and the flavor lies somewhere between "perfectly inoffensive" and "an acquired taste", depending on which type you are drinking. If you're picky about flavors or textures, or need variety in your food, look elsewhere. If you're like me and frequently just want something to efficiently fill your stomach and keep you going for another 6 hours, Soylent is great! The cost can seem a bit steep at $3-4 per bottle, but that's far less than grabbing a quick bite from a restaurant and not a whole lot more than packing a frugal lunch.

The cafe vanilla and coffiest both give me a nice perk-up in the morning, and can easily replace a cup or two of coffee, depending on your caffeine tolerance. To me, the coffiest kind of resembles coffee flavor, but I put this one furthest into the "acquired" taste category. It's less sweet than the vanilla or chai, and a little more bitter (to be expected from coffee flavor!). One of these for breakfast easily keeps me going until lunch time. For lunch I typically have a second soylent along with some fresh veggies to satisfy the need to "eat" something solid, which is usually enough to keep me going through dinner time without any stomach growling or true hunger feeling.

Ultimately, your satisfaction with Soylent will boil down to your expectations. If you are looking primarily for essential nutrition (and/or caffeine) in a convenient, quick to consume format, and not all that concerned about taste or variety, give it a try! If you are looking for a low-calorie meal replacement or diet aid, consider how the 400 kcal/bottle fits into your diet--800kcal to get you through breakfast and lunch doesn't leave much left for dinner on many CICO type plans, and I'm not sure how long I would last drinking ONLY 3 or 4 of these a day. If you're looking for a trendy, gourmet smoothie in a bottle or something, keep looking. Honestly, I think a lot of the unsatisfactory reviews I see about this stuff are from people who expect it to be on par with a $9 sugar-laden smoothie or something in terms of taste.

I used to drink shakeology each morning and was looking for something to easily replace this and was ready to grab n go. My husband and I have little time in the morning to prepare shakeology smoothies so these are perfect! I love the taste of the coffiest (coffee) and it was very filling. I also think the price is good when you consider it a meal replace. With s&s it prices out at 2.80 each. Win! I'm also sensitive to artificial flavors and in my opinion this doesn't taste artificial at all. It's rich, creamy and perfectly flavored. I would describe it as chocolate milk w a splash of coffee. I'm also a personal trainer and nutritionist so I'm careful which products I recommend. This is something I would highly encourage my fitness clients to consume. Big thumbs up!!

It has a thick, rich taste. Very much a coffee lovers taste...which i enjoyed. From a meal replacement point of view its good, but i kept thinking when i was sipping it how "creamy" it was....and to my surprise i discovered a lot of fat grams! Oops!
Should have read the label....but i believe this is part of the products quality some are looking for. With over 20ngrams of fat...one serving will meet your daily fat grams quota...so this is NOT for anyone wanting to keep their fat intake on the low side...
I actually mixed half a bottle with milk alternative and saved the rest for an afternoon "meal".
This product was originally created by a starving college grad trying to live on nothing...id say its something to have in your "survival" foods list. Might be fantastic for a true athlete who burns through thousands of calories...but for me WAY too big on the fat-grams.
For true coffee flavor though id give it a plus...

Love the flavor. I’m used to the flavors of different supplements and plant based foods so I had no problem with it. (I’m not vegan or on any other special diet—just eat vegan things sometimes.) It’s actually very pleasant and has a texture like whole milk. It’s become my go-to in the morning. My stomach usually gets to feeling sick if I eat anything before work because I’m up so early (usually 4-5am) but this stuff I can drink on the way to work (and actually look forward to it). I feel way more energetic when I have me some of this Soylent in the morning. Maybe that’s the 150mg of caffiene. Fine with me!

I’ve been drinking two a day (one this flavor, the other cacao) replacing breakfat and lunch but I’m gonna just have it for breakfast soon because it doesn’t really offer the right nutrition or calories to support me for two meals. Not to mention the price being a little steep. However just one a day makes the math magically work: I can achieve almost perfect macro ratio for the day *and* the calorie to price ratio isn’t bad for a healthy, complete breakfast.

TL;DR would recommend though a bit pricey. Don’t go crazy with it, I would just use it for breakfast and that’s it.

This is an acceptable breakfast replacement for me, which also rolls in my caffeine fix for the morning. I feel moderately full after drinking and I can last until mid afternoon before feeling hungry. It also gets things moving in my downstairs region, which I find to be a positive although some days it works more like a laxative.

Couple of negatives - As of this review, our most recent shipment was still the old style bottles, which are difficult to open. Also these give you HORRIBLE breath, like a burnt hair smell that permeates long distances. You better have mints or gum on hand because it is just a terrible smell and aftertaste.

I think the price is fairly high at first glance, but then I remember that I was buying a $4 Starbucks coffee multiple times a week and never batted at eye. We'll keep up the shipments for now, hopefully the formula improves more down the road.

Coffiest earns five stars for flavor -- it tastes like a creamy coffee treat. I deducted a star for the texture; even though I'm a huge fan of original flavor Soylent, this is a little grittier than I'd prefer. If the texture were smoother, this would be addictive; even with the grittiness it's tasty enough that I look forward to drinking it. Like regular Soylent, it's much better cold. I don't drink much caffeine, but this is great for when I need to stay up; it keeps me awake without the jittery feeling or upset stomach I'd gotten from too much coffee. If you can overlook the texture, Coffiest can be a nice treat with all the benefits of regular Soylent.
