I am so happy with these little plants. They were very well packed, arrived quickly, and looked beautiful straight out of the box. These little guys are perfect for a terrarium or mini garden. They are in two inch pots with about 2 inches of greenery. Each type comes identified with a species/care tag, which I found helpful. My order came with Maidenhair fern, Autumn fern, Lemon Button fern, Selaginella fern, and a generic, traditionally looking plant label “Fern.” The combination has a nice variety of textures and colors and will look great planted together.
Gorgeous plants, arrived so quickly. They appear to be quite healthy and I LOVE the variety! Plus they also included labeling as to what each of them are. I am personally in love with the Maidenhair Fern. I am happy that each one of them is different. I think these will be perfect for my terrariums! The only thing they could improve on is possibly packaging a little more carefully as they just used styrofoam bits and nothing over the soil, but they did arrive intact with only the tiniest bit of soil having come out of one of the pots, so I'd say it worked well, just with more rough transportation it could possibly result in more soil spillage? But either way, very healthy plants, great variety, I couldn't be happier with them! I would definitely buy more plants from Hirts and feel this was a great deal for what I received.

*This is my second order* 4 of the 5 plants I received in the first order died (probably froze during shipping)--so I contacted the seller--and a new shipment was mailed the next day!
Seller packed them securely AND included a little air-activated "hand warmer" to ensure the replacement order would survive.
Here they are *thriving* among some mosses in their new home, nearly two weeks after I received them. I just need to add some cute decor & I'll be set!
Its winter and some of my ferns apparently got too cold in the shipment. I emailed Hirts and mentioned that a few of them didn't look too well. I sent them a picture, then they replied they would replace them. They sent me a new shipment, with 5 ferns instead of 4, and had a heater pad in the box. All arrived perfect.
This is a model of what customer service should be.

Building Your Own Terrarium It's a lot easier than you may think! First, make sure that you have all the required materials for building your terrarium. The most important of these, of course, is the terrarium itself. Virtually any type of clear plastic or glass container will work just fine. Bottles, fish bowls, jars, you name it. There are even special containers built just for terrariums. Your choices are endless; just make sure that you choose a clear container that's been cleaned with hot soapy water, as tinted or cloudy glass or plastic will interfere with plant growth by reducing light.
I had a great experience with these! I'm astonished that 5 mini ferns can be delivered in a box to snowy wintry New York and all 5 are in the pink of health. The box included a handwarmer kind of pack to keep the plants protected from the weather, and plastic wrap to keep the soil in place. They're in 2 terraria now, all looking happy and healthy. If they don't make it I think I'm more likely to blame than the seller.
Edit: Though I love the little ferns I’m upset with the seller because they haven’t gotten back with me about the species. I checked their website and emailed them pictures, but they never responded. Cute plants but in a matter of a day two completely dried out quickly and unexpectedly so I’m trying to bring them back. I’ll have to repost them with more soil almost immediately. I’d really like to know what they are though!
I’m extremely happy with my purchase! They sent a very nicely packaged group of cute little ferns. They’re a good variety and they all look healthy. I love them! Would buy again! It was like unwrapping a present :)!
They arrived slightly crispy but I think they will recover just fine with some water and attention. They were packed very nicely, but one of the taller ferns had a couple bent areas that needed to be clipped. Overall they exceeded my expectations of plants shipped through the mail and are worth the buy. I received 4 different varieties (two being the same species).
These plants arrived in good condition. You will need to re-pot them as soon as possible or they will not be healthy for long in the tiny pots they arrive in. These need some humidity and will do best in a closed environment, in my experience. I received 4 different plants, although two of them were similar. My favorite is pictured, the rainbow fern.
All 5 plants arrived in good condition. Well packed with a heating pad for the trip to a cold climate. I planted them in my Wardian case and they immediately adapted to the environment. I will order more from this seller because they take great care with their plants. Highly recommend.
