We all love those magical car trips. Traffic is awful, people driving like dimwits, the kids asking if we’re there yet every mile-and-a-half, to which you finally reply “Yes! Get out!” mostly as a joke, but secretly there’s that tiny part of you that hopes they’ll do it.
We got those nifty portable DVD players that attach to the headrest to try to combat this, but after a disappointingly small number of uses, they would begin to fail, adding “daaaaaaaaad it’s not working!” as a lovely refrain to “are we there yet?” Then there’s the fun of having to load the things, or the DVD getting scratched, and blah blah blah.
Finally I had had enough. Something had to give or I was going to turn into Michael Douglas’s character in “Falling Down.” I decided to try downloading some movies to the iPad to watch. By dumb luck (which is how I make most good decisions), I stumbled onto this on amazon. It works great! I just use the amazon app, download movies that I own, run the sound through my car stereo, and it works fantastic. The kids are happy, I’m happy. Heck, even my wife is happy.
If you ever go anywhere with your family that takes a few hours to get to and you want to get there without having to talk yourself out of driving your car off a bridge, get this and do what I did. You won’t be sorry.
This tablet mount worked very well in keeping our Fire Tablet out of the reach of a 16-month old on a 6 hour car ride. We had toyed with the idea of just letting her hold the tablet to keep her occupied, but abandoned that idea almost immediately knowing that she can't resist the urge to touch the screen, and would constantly be pausing the movies meant to keep her entertained, or exiting to the main menu, turning the tablet off, etc. Having the tablet mounted out of reach but where she could still see it was great. The extendable arm made it easy to attach the mount to the middle headrest (the passenger headrest has a baby mirror on it, which we would not want to move) and still put the screen where she could see it. The adjustable grip was very easy to size to hold the 7" tablet, and was firm enough so that I didn't worry about the tablet falling if I hit a bump or anything like that. Taking the tablet in and out to put on different videos was likewise simple and easy.
The one drawback I see with the mount would be that I had difficulty getting the rotating head to point the screen in the direction I wanted. I had to adjust the location of the mounting arm so that the screen faced "in" towards my daughter, whereas ideally the arm would have been rotated 180 with the screen facing "out", still towards her. For the price though, the mount did what I needed, and I was very happy with it. It saved us from a long car ride with a screaming, bored toddler.
We purchased this so my kids could play their Nintendo Switch while on long car trips. It works perfectly. I'm not sure how it would do with a heavier tablet, as the Switch is very lightweight.
Works as manufacturers describe. It doesn’t get 5 star because build quality lacks just a bit but it’s a great all around product. Watching videos in car between my twins is finally easy.
My mounting recommendation is to have the brackets facing the inside of driver or passenger headrest . When it was facing the rear seats the kids tend to bump the end that holds tablet more than I’m comfy with. This alternate mounting instruction allows you about 2inches more room. Cheers!!
Great idea and exactly what I was looking for. I understand how the plastic pieces could break. the actual holder piece rotates 360 degrees which means that it has to be tightened to hold in one position which is not easy with the heft of the ipad.
Ours has not yet broken but I thought it had at one point.
I would not recommend this for frequent use but it worked for us on our long car trip this time and hopefully we can use it next time too!

We bought two of these for my car. One we used in the very back to hold an iPad Mini during a very long road trip. It's held up so far. In fact I'm surprised, but my 6 year old daughter wasn't rough enough to destroy it. The other one we used on the back of the front seats and used it to hold a Nintendo Switch. Both held up admirably. I must admit, they feel a little cheap. There are spots on these that have the potential to be "weakest links" where they could break because thy are reliant on plastic, but so far so good, and we've had these since June and it's now September.
Works well to hold a Nintendo Switch for my kids. It fit my Honda Odyssey fine. It appears to be decently made, but I question the long term durability of the plastic parts. I've made sure my kids understand not to hit it when getting in and out of the van. Also, when not being used I unclip the mount from the arm to prevent it from being accidentally hit.
I bought this due to a four hour drive I have to make through the desert for work. This provided me with a way to watch some downloaded Netflix or Amazon shows with some Bluetooth headphones. The setup gives you multiple options and is easily adjustable to meet any needs. I have an 8" Samsung tablet which this accommodates nicely. This will also work out for my kids Samsung 7" tablets as opposed to the DVD player setup in my SUV. This will allow me to center the tablet so they can both equally enjoy movies in the car. I stopped buying DVD's a long time ago so the movies were not getting any newer. This is cheaper than one DVD movie so it is easily justified.
very nice and stylish mount for the iPad, additional one thing to know that if you have the other mounts such as the smart phones mounts from the same brand, you will be able to use it with this stand, just simply unplug or lach the holder from its stand and put it to other stand
now, currently I installed in my vehicle 2 phone mount in the cup holder which is in the flore and 2 head rest stand for the second row passengers and I can change and replace the mount for the smart phone by the iPad or opposite
another thing you need to take care about is the center holder which let you install your iPad or tablet at the center, if you leave it blank your head will hit it once you want to move your head in the front passenger and driver
another last note that if your vehicle is not have this much space I don't recommend you to buy it because the tablet is being mor away from the head rest and everytime you enter the vehicle your head will hit it
at least if you can add the adjustments of the space between the head rest and the tablet holder it will be very superior product
but at this time the product is very good
and once again, if you let the center holder to be removed optionally if we don't require it, it will be some of the special features.
Bought this for our car ride for our recent vacation road trip. Our kids were able to watch shows and videos where they could both see the iPad and without having to do all sorts of crazy improvisation to make that work. It's incredibly easy to adjust, can be loosened and turned around so that a front passenger can work with the iPad or tablet and turn it back around without having to take it out of the holder. It holds our iPad solidly in place and doesn't rattle around or make noise while we're driving. Perfect solution for us!
