OMG! what a difference! Tech came to house and could find no problems with the line, told me my 7 month old router was garbage, I did not believe but had no other options and so looked up a Dual Band router and this was Amazons Choice. Same day delivery and BAM! I went through setup with my ISP and 10 minutes later I went from 15-20 Mbps with constant drops and crashes, to 5G wireless banging 200mbps all over the house with no issues for the last 72 hours. So impressed with both the range and availability of this Router/Modem Mix.

Honestly I was looking for cheaper, and something with antennae popping out of it, however once it was hooked up I have incredible range and reception, even better on the other side of the home where I hooked up a wired repeater, the 5G wireless from this unit is better! Some devices can not use the 5G hookup, and so it also broadcasts a 2G signal that allows the older and non compliant devices excellent service at a lower Mbps

BTW 1st review I have ever written, I was so impressed I logged on to amazon to write this in the middle of streaming a movie because I could do it from my bed, where I was unable to stream before.. Super buy, and delivered same day? Im a fan

Xfinity customers this is the modem/router for you. Just hook up to it with an Ethernet cable and launch your browser. In a minute a screen to activate will show up and in a few minutes you are done. I changed my sign on and password to my previous one and all 12 of my devices were ready to go without changing anything. Bye Bye rental fees.

Great coverage for my 2,500 sf house; works perfectly well without even being located near the center of the house (my wife did not approve it!) ; several items using the WiFi, without any issues: two computers, one laptop, 2 cellphones, one tablet, two firesticks, an Apple TV box; at any time, at least 60% of all those items are working at the same time, with no apparent slow down, in the real life, not measured with any type of equipment, that of course would show that there are too many pieces of equipment using the available bandwidth at the same time, but again, not noticeable slow down in the daily life. Very happy with the equipment, no more dead spots inside the house, and even good coverage outside, with two concrete blocks wall between my phone and the modem.

Wow. Have comcast "blast" - was getting about 40-70 dl speeds and got this because people raved that it boosted a bit. Look at the picture - plugged it in, called comcast and was up in running in no time. Think I even clocked at 200. Let's see how it handles a few streaming devices and computers! Well worth it in my opinion... Comcast charged me $10 a month for their rental - this will pay for itself in a year - plus doubled my speed!

Noticeably faster speeds! This item was extremely easy to setup and activate. All you need to do is insert the cables provided, tighten the coaxial cord, and call your internet service provider. I've gone through a few different modems/routers, and this was by far the easiest to install. You can go to the domain and customize name/password for the connection. There is also the 5G WiFi signal, for compatible devices. All devices connected, and have had no issues with dropping signal. The price is great compared to similar modem+WiFi router combos!

Very nice router for the price.
Like anything, need a few moments to familiarize yourself with the UI. (10 seconds later)...
Many,MANY configuration options for high/low traffic environments,
and any other feature a modern router needs.
1 Thing Missing IMO=A USB Port for network attachable storage. Fortunately, my AP switch has one!. :]
If you want that feature then this router, unfortunately, won't check all the boxes for you.

Earlier this year I cut down drastically on all my bills. I decided to buy my own router so I could quit paying Comcast an extra $10 a month. Did a ton of research and for the price I was willing to pay I found a few good devices and chose this one. It was one of the best buys I made all year. We were paying for 50mbps and usually reaching about 35-40 consistently. Once I got this baby hooked up I was getting around 120 mbps. Huge improvement. No problems with dropped signals or rebooting. Works great for our needs. I'd highly recommend it. It's saving us $120 a year.

I bought this Motorola WIFI modem to replace another one provided by Spectrum (former Time Warner) for $5/month.
The original 5G speed was between 55 - 80Mbps (WIFI, not direct connect) in a 100Mbps package but after installing
the new Motorola modem, it increased above 200Mbps!! However, I have measured many times over 230Mbps,
I am not sure if this is the new speed upgrade from Spectrum which was promised recently or it is still the 100Mbps package.
They said a couple of days ago (today is January 30, 2018) that the 100Mbps package will be automatically increased to 200Mbps for the same price. Anyway, I can measure WIFI speed between 150 - 170Mbps even in peak time periods.
This Motorla MG7540 model is perfect for an apartment and definitely cheaper than the Motorola MG7550 which is exactly the same but a little bit stronger and faster to maintain the same signal quality for larger spaces like a private house or office.

Absurd difference with other modems/routers. I was using a TPLink one and it was ridiculous compared to this. I get a 100+ mega in wifi in this Motorola and TpLink gave me only 25 at best. The size of the Motorola is a bit big but it's so worthwhile. Invest more and have a better product hassle free, I would suggest anyone.

Works perfectly. For Comcast Xfinity, the setup is ludicrously simple. Just unplug the old unit and disconnect any ethernet cables and the incoming coax cable, and plug them into the new unit. Wait a couple of minutes for it to detect a signal (the green light stops blinking), then open a browser. An Xfinity activation page automatically comes up. Enter your phone number, it will text a code to you, and enter the code. That's it. It takes a few more minutes for your device to become synced and then you are ready.

When you first open a browser to get the activation page, you must be on a computer directly connected to the unit via an ethernet cable (a short one is supplied.) I first tried from my home office which goes through a switch, and that didn't work.

One tip, for security, change the default router admin password. The 'Quick Start' instructions guide you into the Configuration Manager via a browser window. You will also need to go here if you want to retain your old network name and wifi password. In my case I didn't. After several years, it was good security to change wifi passwords anyway.

One minor annoyance, the power adapter, when plugged into a standard power strip, uses one outlet and blocks two others.

This unit replaced my Comcast rental unit, for which I was getting billed monthly. By buying my own, this product will pay for itself within the first year. And, the home wifi is noticably faster, especially with the newer 5GHz band which the old unit did not support.
