You're reading these reviews because you want to find a more affordable option to the actual Nespresso brand capsules. Who can blame you?
The real ones made by Nespresso cost between 70¢ and $1. If you ask me, that's pretty expensive for a cup of coffee you make at home!
Here's the longer story, done (slightly) shorter...
If you've ever tasted a Nespresso Kazaar capsule, you've tasted the single most delicious cup of espresso that you're likely to ever have - AT HOME.
If you think you're likely to replicate that with any other brand, I wish you the best of luck and happy hunting.
Fact is, the Nespresso capsules have achieved something that none of the rest have been able to replicate - YET.
Smoothness and richness of flavor without that burnt, over-roasted taste that you so often find with many espresso blends.
I can tell you without any hesitation, if you've never had a Nespresso capsule, you will think these taste AMAZING.
But this isn't a Nespresso capsule review, it's a Bestpresso review for the 01, 02, 03, 04, 06 & 07 capsules.
There are very minor differences in all 6 of these roasts, but one thing remains constant throughout all of them. There is a pervasive over-roasted flavor, that I'm assuming is there to give you the impression of a more sophisticated blend. I can assure you that you will not mistake these for a ripoff of the Nespresso branded coffees. I can however tell you, the differences between the blends are so minor, that you may not be able to distinguish one from the other.
With all of that said, I have brewed the Bestpresso espresso capsules with the proper amount of water, the lungo capsules with the proper amount of water and the ristretto using the Nespresso recommended 15 second brew-time. I can tell you without any hesitation that there is an AMAZING crema on every single blend. I can tell you without any hesitation that every capsule I've used (over 20 at this point) has brewed consistently, producing the same quantity of coffee each and every time. I've had no stuck capsules, no false starts, no under-pours either.
If you are looking for a budget friendly, fresh cup of espresso, that not only tastes great but also gives you a great buzz, you will love this coffee!
For completeness, I am using a 2017 model Nespresso Inissia by DeLonghi - AND I LOVE IT!
I came from an unsatisfying Keurig 2.0 environment and can't even THINK about having another cup made by that thing.
I can tell you with a high level of certainty, the bad reviews for Bestpresso capsules were more than likely made by coffee-snobs or serious connoisseurs of gourmet coffees. Those people should stick with the $3,000 double-boiler machines. If all you want is an excellent cup of espresso, and you're not out to compare every sip with every other type/brand of coffee in the known universe, Bestpresso's Gourmet Coffee Capsules will make you very happy!
I will definitely be buying these again...
Happy Sipping! ^_^
UPDATE: I've now been through more than 90 capsules and I can assure you that every single cup you make will be as fresh, aromatic and correct sized as the first!
The other thing that I want to go on record as saying, is I've been through the 16-pack of samples that Nespresso gives you when you purchase the Nespresso and only 3 of them were EXCELLENT. The other 13 all had a bitter-Starbucks type of flavor. If you don't like the bitterness in Starbucks coffee, you'll love the Bestpresso capsules. With that said, the Arabica blend (#03) is the only one with ANY bitterness and it's very minor. I still stand by my original review 100% and will continue to buy these as long as the price is right! :)
These capsule are okay. I tested about 5 of them from different boxes, to see how well they run through my Nespresso (Inissia). The fit and finish of the capsules is similar to many other of the better after market capsules, using a foil seal instead of plastic. During use, they do create a reasonable level of crema (but still not quite as thick as factory capsules), and a reasonable espresso that is a tad weaker than what you would expect. This being said, they were not bad, and for the price, they are a lot less expensive than factory capsules.
Note: I suspect the product settles a little during storage, as I netted better results, if I tapped the capsule on the counter a few times, to loosen the capsule contents before use, leading to a slightly better tasting espresso shot... (Just an observation)
Love these coffee pods!!! BUT I would suggest the following. Before placing a pod into your Nespresso machine tap it on the counter (flat part) a couple of times to loosen the coffee grains. I find that in this manner, the coffee drips out much more effectively and attains all the rich coffee flavor.
And, here's the only reason I don't give it 5 stars: It is impossible to know which coffee pod you are using if you end up putting all the coffee pods into a dispenser as I have!!! There are no markings on each pod (ie.. strength or type of coffee). At least, put the name on the pod or the number associating to its strength. So, what I have done is cut out one of the side panels and color coded it and keep it handy in order to better select which coffee and how long or short to make my cup.
The coffee tastes great. I was a bit concerned of the quality since this is considered a cheaper alternative to the traditional Nespresso coffee pods. Honestly, as far as the coffee goes, it tastes great. The flavor is very vivid and the texture is excellent. Not to mention there is a good amount of crema on top.
The packaging presentation is great as well. The little boxes the pods are contained in are very durable and visually appealing. Each of the six boxes contains six different flavors. Each box contains two individual bags, each containing ten pods. The bags can also be easily resealed to keep the coffee fresh.
There are only two cons I can think of:
1. Unlike the traditional Nespresso pods, the Bestpresso pods are plastic rather than aluminium. At times the machine has a difficult time puncturing through the plastic and the coffee brews very slowly as a result.
2. When you first open the bags the pods are contained in, you get a strong aroma of coffee. My concern is the pods are not sealed properly and the coffee may be getting a bit stale. The pods are most likely not sealed completely and may not last as long as the typical Nespresso pods.
I think I like this but not totally sure. On several occasions when using the Bestpresso capsules it's painful watching how slowly the coffee drips out whereas with the Nespresso capsules there's never an issue and it's consistent timing, also some Bestpresso capsules seem to make stronger coffee than others out of the same package and I'm trying to work out why. I've been looking at the foil lids on unused Bestpresso capsules and they are quite concave, then looking at used ones, some have puncture marks all over the central section of the foil which is what I'd expect whereas others only have about 70% of the punctures. Is it an issue with the sunken foil area? The convex foil on the Nespresso capsules must be like that for a reason and we are getting consistently made coffee with them both in the time it takes to make it and the flavor. My coffee loving daughter and I did a Bestpresso taste test this evening on all 6 types, as espresso size and lungo. Neither of us was in love with any of it when made as lungo but we were impressed with it as espresso, anywhere we felt the espresso wasn't "quite right" we checked the foil lid to see if fully punctured or not and then we used another pod to double check the taste if there were only partial piercings, which told us two things, it does depend on the lid if it is totally punctured or not as to whether you get to experience the coffee as its meant to be, and if you get your Bestpresso pods behaving the way they should do, and make them espresso size, you will love it. I would like a go to alternative so that I'm not stuck on buying only Nespresso capsules and if I could be sure that the issues we are experiencing with the difference in taste that I believe is due to some capsules having more holes poked in the foil than others, then Bestpresso would be my brand but right now I'm still looking to see what else is out there.

Coffee capsules compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine coffee machines. Bestpresso is an independent brand not affiliated with or approved by Nespresso.I had purchased my first Nespresso machine about 2 weeks ago and received the sample pack from the espresso. I was concerned with the price espresso was charging for their pods so I have been doing research for the past week on which pots to purchase.
My neighbor recommended me the best preso pods and after reading the reviews I decided to make the purchase.
Not only do the pods fit perfect and Brew great, they have great Crema and I notice no downgrading quality from the original Nespresso pods. I will continue to purchase these pods as long as the quality stays true
I caught these on a amazon lightning deal and so far so good and worth the price. Coffee seems to be a little weaker than the orig but I am also keeping in mind that I didn't pay what the "others" cost. These have worked flawlessly so far in my machine. People just need to keep in mind to keep expectations realistic....you don't buy a 20k car and expect it to perform like a 80k corvette do you? I will be buying these again.
I have now gone thru about half of these, and I have to say that they're worth buying vs the real deal. Of the six varieties, five are of the higher intensities, that is, 8,9,10,11&12. Also, I have to agree with other reviewers that the coffee, quite often, comes out painfully slow, but for basically half the price of the name brand, it's worth putting up with. Minus 1⭐ for that.
Update: I have now gone through all but 6 capsules of this product. For the past few days, however, I have gone back to my real deal Nespresso Lungo blends, and I have to say that they are absolutely noticably better..definitely more flavorful than these Bestpresso copies. I know the Nespressos are more expensive, but I assume you bought the machine in order to have the best coffee experience. So I don't think scrimping on the coffee makes sense.
Update 2: Although I have switched back to the real Nespresso capsules, one thing I miss about these copies is, after pressing the start button and before the brew cycle was complete, I had time to shower, shave, get dressed and vacuum my apartment. No such luxury any more 😜
This product is packaged nicely, arrives in a selection of nice boxes and with a colorful, appealing look. The impressions of the "build quality" of these capsules versus the original Nespresso is fairly dramatic. You can see what you are paying for -- these are clearly "cheapies" to produce. Plastic capsules, with a thin foil underneath and no tight vacuum seal or whatever it is that makes the Nespresso aluminum capsules so rigid across the foil bottoms. Anyway, after somewhat of a disappointed feeling as we looked at them, we put a few through their paces. For those who own a Nespresso machine, you know that satisfying "Pop!" sound you get when you hit the brew button and the water gets forced into the capsule? Well don't expect that here. The water just sort of whimpers through the Bestpresso capsule, and with a weak looking stream. But when you taste it, it's not that much of a disappointment. You get a somewhat weaker taste than a Nespresso, but we can live with that because we paid like half-price for these.. Literally, there's no sophistication, no class, no George Clooney.
Updated a week later. We had a very positive interaction today with the customer service team. My comments about the coffee taste don't change, but I don't see it as a total ripoff any longer. I think this company is actually trying now to improve things. They want to be in this market and apparently they care about the coffee consumer. So I hope that in the future, the capsules can taste/smell a little better. Thank you Jomashop.
Updated a couple of months later . . . We've continued to buy this product. Nespresso takes a week to get their capsules out West. I order this one day, get it the next. I'll put up with a little less pizzazz to save a bunch of money and get it the next day. I don't know what happened to Nespresso customer service, but they've changed dramatically. I think they're putting all their efforts (and customer service) into that new and expensive capsule machine system.
Everyone that tries these in my home LOVES them! The range of flavors/intensities allows there to be something good for everyone, and every cup is perfect, rich, and delicious.
Why buy these instead of the official Nestle brand?
MANY reasons.
1. They cost less and taste just as good
2. Nestle is notoriously evil. Look up what they do to communities--they take water in areas with severe drought for pennies and resell that water, while people IN that community have to make sacrifices and conserve water. They have even sued cities to achieve these goals, and have been found negligent in following best environmental practices globally. If you can avoid this brand, do.
3. This is sustainable coffee in support of small coffee producers
4. Over 50% Rainforest Alliance Certified. It's not 100%, but it sure is better than Nestle's in terms of this, and is better than many companies.
Give it a try--I have ordered the big variety pack twice already!
