When I bought my laptop I had no idea it didn’t have a dvd Drive. I know most of the new computers don’t have them now but my computer is already like 5 years old and I just expected it to have it. I love my computer but was bummed when I realized I couldn’t watch my dvds on it or use my software I already had that was on CD’s. I was really excited to find this and wish I would’ve realized these were available back when I first bought my computer! It works great. All you do is plug it in, put your dvd in and go! I DID have to install vlc media player though but that was no biggie (I think that’s what it’s called) because I have windows 8 and apparently they don’t put the software for playing dvds on your computer anymore. But that was super easy, I just googled it, found the site and downloaded it for free. The dvd Drive itself works great and I like the look of it. My favorite part is that the cord can be tucked into the drive in a little slot...I took a picture so you can see what I mean. I hate dealing with cords so this was a nice touch and will make it easier to store and transport. No complaints.
Just a bit thicker than the size of CD box. Works perfectly with my MacBook, now I’m really to file my income tax with Turbo Tax.
I ordered it because it looked cool, and I have a slim laptop so I do need a cd/dvd player for occasional movie or software install. Let me tell you - this drive is cool. It’s very light and compact in size, will fit in a backpack or laptop bag with no problem, and the build seems very sturdy, I dropped it few times already, and nothing. It comes with the cord attached, so I don’t worry about forgetting it if I’m on the go. USB 3.0 and usb-c type, I like that variety. And it just looks very nice and modern, totally worth 20ish bucks. Any other store would have it for more, and they are bulky and dull-looking. I’m very satisfied with my decision to get it.
I bought my laptop half year with “future technology” the new USB port and this products works perfect since my laptop only has 1normal USB port for my wireless mouse

Please Note:
1. Kingbox external optical drive is normal USB DVD drive, not a blu ray DVD drive, so it can't play blu ray disc and work with tablet, such as iPad.

3. Date transfer speed is also affected by computer and system environment.

Running at USB 3.0 speed, so far so good, just wish the built-in cable was longer.
This was my second attempt at a external dvd drive. I loved the fact I can use it with my MacBook (usb-c) and my PC! I was happy to see an actual physical button to eject the drive. That was the reason the last one didn’t work for me. This one just worked for me. Do know that the cable is short but it worked great for what I needed. Or you can always also get a usb extension cable.
Initially had a hard time making the product work with my laptop but as soon as I downloaded the vlc player app, everything went smooth.
It is perfect as my laptop does not have a DVD drive, now I can watch movies and even copy data or pics to dvd/cds....
I also love how the USB cord is attached and have a compartment at the back portion so you don't forget to bring a cord whenever you need to use it.
Works as expected.
No need use any magic.
Handles USB-A and USB-C. The cable stores in the unit. Sleek. Easy to throw in a bag. So far, no problems with self-power from battery-driven devices.
