HP Pavilion 27-inch FHD IPS Monitor with LED Backlight (27xw, Snow White and Natural Silver)

HP Pavilion 27-inch FHD IPS Monitor with LED Backlight (27xw, Snow White and Natural Silver)

This has to be the one of the best (if not THE best) looking monitor on the market. Hp really took a number from Apple's play book w/ this monitor & I for one am impressed. The color reproduction is phenomenal (considering it's 1080p on a 25" monitor) & I barely had to do any tweaking out of the box to get it to my preference. Furthermore, the menu is very easy to navigate -- many monitors fail in this dept. -- & I found myself breezing thru it in a matter of secs w/ out looking at the owners manual. I appreciate the 2 HDMI ports in the back for simultaneous input options.

Lastly, if any Mac owners find their the HP 25xw's monitor image & text to be fuzzy out of the box, in the menu go to: "Image Control" --> "Overscan" & set it to "OFF." After that, the display was perfect.

** UPDATE (February 2016) **

Been using this monitor for 4 months now and still LOVE it. I leave it on 24/7 (it goes to standby mode when not in use) because I often connect my Macbook Air to it using a HDMI to mini display port cable whenever am at my desk. That way I don't have to turn it on manually every time.

It wakes up effortlessly once connected to my Mac & goes to sleep once I disconnect it. Moreover, I have my PS4 connected to the second HDMI port and the games look awesome with no lag.

Be warned, the 27" is much bigger than I expected! After getting used to it, I'm very happy with the size. It does also give me the option to mount it (via an adapter) in the future without it feeling too small.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:
It arrives with a 2-piece, "no tools needed" stand, a power supply, and an HDMI cable. A software disk and manual were also included, but I didn't bother with those at all.

PLUG & PLAY:
After sliding the stand pieces together and then into the monitor, I simply plugged the HDMI into my MacBook Pro and into one of the monitor's two HDMI ports and got the power plugged in on both ends before turning on the beautiful display! Took approximately 30 seconds to get into my MacBook's preferences and set the display options to my liking (which was an additional screen versus mirror display).

MY EXPERIENCE:
I use programs that require multiple windows to be open at once and just using my 15" Mac screen wasn't working. Having a large screen that can accommodate multiple windows, plus a laptop screen is absolutely incredible. I frankly don't know how I've gotten along without it.

QUALITY:
I think the picture quality is great! I've grown accustomed to my Mac's beautiful Retina Display and my breathtaking 4K UHD TV, but this monitor looks fantastic. I am impressed with the relatively low price tag that accompanies the high quality as well.

STYLE:
Further, the "white" (and silver) color just looks wonderful with all of my Apple products. The only thing I might change is getting a white HDMI cable to further match my color scheme.

TL;DR:
Easy set up, great display, "white" color coordinates with Apple products, the quality and number of reviews on here are accurate

Gorgeous monitor! It looks so clean and the quality is fantastic. I use it for a PC monitor as well as for casual gaming. I would definitely buy again. The smooth bezel and the stand itself are aesthetically pleasing on its own.
The only disappointment was that the power supply was bad from just months after purchase. The monitor would not power on intermittently but would usually come on after being unplugged. The time that it needed to remain unplugged increased until it would not longer power on at all. Using a multi meter I tested the power supply, and it was completely dead. Of course, the warranty had expired by the time I started having issues, but I purchased a third party power supply (Pwr+ 65W HP-Pavilion-MONITOR 20 21.5 23 23.8 25 27 Inch IPS LED Backlit Full HD DISPLAY-Charger AC Adapter-Power-Cord ADPC1945 - HP Pavilion 27 27xw 27xi 27bw 27er 27es 25 24ea 25xw 25bw 25xi 22xi 22cwa 22bw 22fi 23 23bw 23cw 23tm 23xi 23fi 23er 20xi ! SELECT MODELS ONLY !) and now it all works perfectly.

Great desktop screen!
(disregard the left side blur on my photo.. I personally blurred for privacy).

I purchased the 25 inch and it is perfect for what I need it to do. I'm currently studying for my Master's degree so I need a lot of screen space, and at work utilize (2) screens for split screen purposes. When you go from a split screen at work to a laptop at home, you definitely need a larger screen! The 25 inch is perfect for that split screen preference (connected via lightning port hdmi to my desktop).

Easy (2) step setup with clear instructions.
Graphics are clear.
There IS a glare as described by other buyers BUT nothing too distracting, that adjusting your blinds won't assist with. Definitely NOT a deal breaker.

The price and the quality of the product are such a steal! You really can't beat the offer! Would purchase again.

NOTE: it does NOT come with speakers installed.

I got this as a replacement to an aging Samsung 26" TN monitor. The difference was startling! To take a step back, I found this monitor after several weeks of research. It was also recommended by (https://pcmonitors.info/recommendations/) at the time of purchase (Feb 2016). This site does a great job of explaining the technology behind monitors and justifying their recommendations, which are based more on real world use and performance than marketing.

My primary use is with a PS4, but I also use it for my PC and as an additional monitor for my work laptop. The response time and input delays are negligible for 60 FPS (framer per second) gaming (I tested with mostly Call of Duty and Guitar Hero). As a side note, it even improved the overall look and feel of games that ran in 30 fps (Bloodborne and Destiny). But the real areas where this monitor shines is the color quality. It was a stunning difference between my TN display (which cost $400). I compared several games, movies, pictures, etc. and this monitor produced a better looking output every time. The range of colors was expanded and the depth of blacks and the brightness of whites are solid. I spent the first several hours just marveling at the quality of the image on the screen.

The monitor itself looks great. The screen is a middle ground between glossy and matte. It has a good amount of settings to tweak the picture to you're personal taste, but not too many to get overwhelmed. The build quality is decent. The stand feels a bit flimsy. The screen leaves a black border around the sides and top, but not the bottom. I found this odd. There are 3 inputs: 2 HDMI and 1 VGA. If your PC input is DVI (like mine) you'll need an adapter or use the VGA.

Overall, this monitor is fantastic for the price (I paid $200). I checked other monitors in the $275-$325 range that had no advantage over this one.

Description

Expanded screen real-estate in an ultra-thin and dynamic display. The engaging HP Pavilion 27xw IPS LED Backlit Monitor. Technicolor certified, wide angle viewing, and crisp resolution.

This monitor looks like it costs twice as much. I chose the 25" monitor and it is the perfect amount of screen real estate. I needed the monitor as the finishing touch for my music production studio so that I could run Ableton Live through my Macbook Pro without having to clutter up my workspace with the laptop. I tuck the mac neatly under my desk and now have my desk free for midi controllers and other gear. Highly recommend the monitor, it instantly hooked up to my mac after following the short instructions and produced HD visuals that met my high expectations with a bit of tweaking.

One setting that I found useful to adjust is the screen sharpness setting. I set it to a medium level and it softens things just enough to get rid of any of that 'too-sharp' pixelation.

The base is very clean and sturdy, and the monitor as a whole is very aesthetically pleasing. Even though it says hp on it, it does not look out of place running El Capitan, in fact it looks like mac designed it themselves. I am quite picky and was hesitant to purchase such an inexpensive monitor but I have absolutely no negative feedback. It's amazing that technology is this cheap, buy this thing. Hell, buy two of them.

Got here super fast. The brown cardboard box didn't have any damage but upon opening the hp box was a bit damaged.

Easy to put together and comes with all the wires needed. Turned it bn on tonight and tested the capabilities and was very pleased. Immediately after turning it on we put on a vibrant background as I've read some of the reviews of the panels being bad creating dull color as is the gamble with these types of screens. And we were happy to see that was not the case here. If that does happen to you contact the seller. I've read other reviews of the power supply shortingnout after about 6 months of use but that is easily replaced.

Been using it for a few hours running games, video, and doing code work. Been running like a champ. Also love the design of this monitor. Super thin, lite for it's size and the stand easy to adjust. The screen isn't anti glare so be aware you have to face it away from windows and such. All and all very happy with this purchase.

Functions well, but no written directions in my container in English. Had a devil of a time getting it to turn on. Their picture instructions are ambiguous and lacking in clarity. The buttom to turn on is on the underside of the monitor, in the right front corner and can not be seen unless you place your face well below the bottom of the monitor and look back up, because the underside button is thin and not deep enough to be seen when looking at the front of the monitor from your desk height. The picture instructions reference no underside buttom but merely a symbol on the bottom right front corner of the monitor and suggest you merely turn on the monitor (after connecting it properly, of course) but pressing in on the symbol. Well, the symbol is not a button and does not push it. Clearly a gross ambiguity that could have EASILY been avoided by a picture showing an hidden button on the underside of the monitor and by showing an error pointing up rather than an arrow pointing directly to the symbol at the front right bottom corner. I assume their absence of written English instructions, but providing me written instructions in Spanish and some other language was a packing error. If not, again shame on the manufacturer.

Gorgeous doesn't even begin to describe this monitor. It puts a macbook desktop monitor to shame in terms of style. The bottom/stand is quite wide and obviously 25" is what it is: 25". So be prepared for a huge monitor that you need to have some room for on your table. The HDMI cables make connection a breeze and all in all after ordering it I had it setup using it/working in about 3 days from purchase and (setup took ~ 3 minutes).

Best purchase I've made in a while and the quality can't be beat. It's like walking around a best buy store room floor everyday in my home office. Can't recommend this monitor enough. From purchase to now (and hopefully infinity and beyond) this monitor is one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

I purchased this monitor to replace two smaller desktop monitors and I have to say I will not go back to a smaller monitor size - ever. This screen has plenty of real estate if you do a lot of multi-screen work like I do. Most of my work consists of either editing or comparing data/websites and this screen is great at handling two side-by-side screens. I have even found myself giving the kids half of the screen to watch a YouTube video while I work on the other half.

Nice, modern stand design fits in with most office decor I assume, and the picture is clear and bright. I'm not super technical in the sense that I count pixels and ratios, but I'm a heavy user who has no problem with the clarity or brightness of this beautiful monitor!
