No, it does not scan or make copies or fax, it does not have wifi connectivity, it does not even come with a USB cable to hook it up with.
Of course, it says in the description that the cable is not included, the description also says nothing about wifi, scanning, faxing or copying.
So why the other reviews rate this printer badly for those omissions is not the printers fault now is it?
This is just your plain, basic printer of the type made years ago before all the "do-everything" printers came along, and guess what? It prints just fine.
You might as well add another set of ink cartridges to your basket if you buy this, the ones included are "starter" cartridges, I printed one one page of plain black text and the black cartridge read almost a quarter empty, so they won't last long.
So I work in IT and when printer manufacturers stopped shipping .50cent USB Type A-to-B cables in their Networkable printers I laughed but somewhat understood since it makes more sense to network the printer if it's capable. However, this printer has no networking capability. This printer is also designed for simplicity hence that it advertises one button and ease of use. This would then cater to the less tech savvy people who just want a printer they can set up themselves. Do you think those people are going assume that the printer, when taken out of the box, is completely unusable unless you buy an extra part somewhere else? I cannot fathom for the life of me why HP does not include a .50cent USB cable given that it's literally a requirement for the printer to function out of the box. I still gave the printer 4 stars because with the cable it is a functioning printer for very cheap. They'll make the money back on the ink of course and how greedy of a company can you be where you don't include a usb cable...unbelievable. I'll update my review if this thing breaks in the coming months.
This is a printer. It does one thing...print.
Then sits there until you ask it to print again.
That is all I ask.
Added bonuses:
It's super light. The color is nice. It's small and folds up to be compact. It uses a common HP ink so easy to find replacement cartridges. It's cheap.
The only cons I could see are:
It prints pretty slowly...but what rush are you in? c'mon look at the price.
You insert paper from the top, I prefer having a bottom loading trap...but why does that even matter? c'mon look at the price
I think this is because the ink cartridges are new, but the ink has like a very subtle "faded" look...but are we printing movie tickets or a corporate marketing campaign? c'mon look at the price.
Perfect for the regular student and home use. If you want office quality printing buy a more expensive printer or go to Fedex/Staples.
HP is always a safe buy. For the price this printer does the job. HP tech support helped me set it up to operate with my tablet/laptop. It did not have a cd port, so I needed help. They were very patient with me, as I am 78. This unit cannot be used to scan or copy, just basic printing. It's small and fits nicely on the end table close to my tablet.
FINALLY!
I needed a printer. I sooooo needed a simple printer that just prints out what's on the screen. Is that too much to ask? Well, apparently it is! I bought a printer at an office supply store (yes, the big one that starts with the letter 'S') and it was a DUD. The roller didn't roll. I called customer service and the guy wanted to have someone repair my NEW PRINTER?!
In what universe does that make any sense? Well, I got my money back and not buying from that retailer again. My present-day needs are simple; just print the freakin' page. Not part of the page, the whole page without inky mess, roller problems, paper jams, and so on and so on. Printer, pure and simple with no bells or whistles.
I found this one online. Reviews looked good. Priced at under $30 - very affordable. I thought, "Why not?"
The set up instructions completely illustrated, no words. I followed each step successfully until I got to the ink cartridges. I couldn't get them to snap in properly, and I was careful not to force them in. Took me a few tries, but finally, success. Placed the disc in my computer and it was such an easy set-up that I didn't realize it was over. *Snap* - that quick.
Pros:
1. Prints FAST!
2. Add paper easily.
3. Nice fold-up paper tray.
4. Computer set up, a breeze.
Cons:
1. It only prints and does not copy or scan.
2. The ink cartridges could be a little easier to snap in.
I recommend this printer to anyone who just needs something simple and good. Prints fast. Easy to use. Easy to set up. In a word - Easy. This would make an excellent printer for a student or personal use at home.

We ordered this just a few weeks ago. The price is amazing and it came with ink so there's a plus. You do have to order a cord to connect it to your computer. Make sure you order the right cord! We've used it just a handful of times but each time has been great. It works well with my avery stickers and the colors come out great. Our set up went perfectly, I read that some people had some issues but I didn't experience any, read the instructions and everything should go fine!
Very simple to use, gets the job done. Only downside is that there is no usb cable included, it should say that in the description. However, usb cable is relatively cheap just keep in mind to purchase it while you purchase the printer, so you're not stuck waiting and additional couple of days. It comes with a black and color cartridge and the printer itself is very easy to set up. If your computer doesn't have a disk player to download the software (I have a tablet with a keyboard), it's ok because you can just download the software from the company's site which is linked to you in the instructions manual.
I need to regularly print about 20-30 pages a week. When my 7 year old Canon iP2702 started acting up I bought this as a second printer. It's a good color printer that produces beautiful laser like text and gorgeous photos even on plain paper. I got more than I expected and I'm quite happy with this purchase. However, the first week I had some minor problems. Instructions were not well organized so I had to use some trial & error to figure stuff out. Also I was mistreated with constant HP popups telling me I need to buy ink. I was also aggressively routed over and over to the HP website without being asked. The fix for this annoyance is to use a good start up manager to prevent HP from controlling your computer whenever it wants. I never did like HP's overly aggressive tactics. Another minor flaw is that the ink cartridges tend to run out faster than my Canon. However many sites (including Amazon) sell a combo set of cartridges (color & black) for about $20 or a bit less. By shopping around you can get a good deal. The ink gives about 4-6 weeks of moderate printing which is not as bad as other printers. Also note that when it tells you the ink is low that is a definite lie. Just keep printing until your printouts are no longer acceptable. Then change the cartridge & you're back in business. Overall this is a basic color printer with good to excellent quality printing. The fact that the cartridges aren't overly expensive is another big plus.
20 pages in (in 2 months) I really like this printer. You need to buy the cord as I had read on reviews but it was cheap. I just use it for shipping labels... I recommend it all day for similar use. I just ship things from Ebay on the side... Maybe 10 things a month. If I was doing around 100+ items a month I would invest in something better probably. But with that said... I still really like this printer so far.
I was using the printer at Staples, but was concerned about privacy issues (whatever you print from a machine at Staples or FedEx stays on their server AND on their printer's hard drive and can be hacked into).
With tax time approaching, I searched for a basic, inexpensive basic printer to print out my completed tax forms, and ordered this. It comes with an installation CD but you can also get the drivers online. The wizard leads you through everything. It also comes with both black & white and color starter ink.
I like that this printer easy to set up and maintain, and doesn't take up much space. It is also light and easy to carry. Best of all, the print quality is quite impressive for a $30 printer. My aunt has the more expensive HP Envy 4520 and the print quality on this is much better. So far, everything is working well. Just make sure to purchase a printer cable, it doesn't come with one.
