I can print from my phone, from iPad or from my Mac. The brother iPrint&Scan app works very easily with this printer.
Tip: set the printer up with a static ip address, assigned both on the printer, and on the router. This will keep the printer connected to the network. Compared to my old HP ink-printer, which amazingly served me well for 10 years and countless ink cartridges, this printer is faster and quieter.
Quality for pictures is not as good as ink, however it is good enough and for anything framed it’s easy to order prints from elsewhere.
Overall I’m glad to have toner instead of ink.
I like everything about this printer. Why did I wait so long to go to a laser printer? The Canon inkjets I owned required frequent cartridge changes, experienced mechanical failures on a regular basis, and had difficulty regularly printing from Chrome using Google Cloud Print. This Brother printer is a dream - very reliable, cartridges last forever with typical home use (and they don't dry up like inkjet), and the wireless printing is rock-solid - I've not had any issues printing from Windows, Mac or Chromebook. Good paper capacity, and the copy/scan function works well too. If you need to scan or copy multiple pieces on a regular basis you should consider the next model up that has a feeder - this model is individual scan or copy. But for those of us with infrequent scan/copy needs, this is a great choice.
Much better than other wireless printers I’ve had. I’ve had Epson and HP printers and this machine is worth a bit more in initial cost considering the quality and print results. I did have trouble connecting to my wireless network, but the issue was I use the Google wi-fi mesh system. Recommend not directing the printer to the Google wi-if, but to the primary router. The only small “con” is that you will then need to connect to that wireless router to print. My devices automatically connect to the Google wi-fi (as it is throughout the house with the strongest signal) so I need to redirect any device when I want to print. Takes a few seconds, but worth the convenience of being able to print wirelessly from anywhere in the house. My printer is 3 floors up in a home office and I have no issues printing from the 1st floor from any laptop or device (iPhone etc). Deducted one star as I find the printer’s screen a bit outdated and cumbersome to navigate through the options, but once the printer is set-up most options can be changed through the Brother print/scan app easily. Firmware is also easy to update through the app. Keep in mind you can buy non Brother toner without the chip for a reasonable price (currently $85 for all 4 high capacity cartridges) but you will need to take the chips from the original toner cartridges and install them onto the other manufacturer’s cartridges. Otherwise the toner alert (out of toner) will display. Not a big issue as the chips are easy to swap. Overall, this is a good printer and worth the $280 as compared to others for 1/2 the cost. My son (9 years old) uses it for school as well and prints wirelessly from his Chromebook with no issues. Thanks Brother.
I'm sold on "brother" brand laser printers. My old on finally produced a bad roller and was not cost effective to replace. So we got this one. With our old brother laser it came with short cartridges of toner as the were the original ones that came with the printer and after 3 years and probably 5000+ pages printed they finally gave out. So I bought full cartridges that I bet would last almost 10 years they are amazing! This machine set up easier. Once hooked to the wifi I am able to move it from room to room and just plug it back in and it hooks back up on its own. The old brother would drop the wifi signal and have to be logged back on maybe once every couple months. This one seems to be much more advanced in that area. The ease of use is great with this. Copying or scanning is a breeze. And paper jams? Brothers just don't do it. They are problem free printers. It's nice not having to worry if your ink is running low or can it print out these 40 pages without jamming. There are lots of things to worry about but )once you buy a Brother....) "Printing isn't one of them!"
The printer is quiet and if copying directly from printer it is easy to use. I regret not checking into it further before purchasing it. There is no "mirror image" printing either directly from the printer nor in the app. Customer support said the driver for this machine is not capable of mirror image printing using any interface. That doesn't seem like a difficult task to make the driver complete, but then I am not a developer. The printer prints nice pages and unlike my previous two Epson printers, does not leak any ink or leave splots on the pages. Customer support was helpful when I called and looked into the mirror image.

First off, the printer is heavy. This is a well- built piece of equipment. The unpacking directions were straight forward and setup was easy. I took the recommendation of another reviewer and downloaded the software from Brother's website which took less time and effort than using the cd.
One thing I didn't know is that there was no need to print a test page to line up print heads, etc. I then printed about 40 pages of documents. The black print is clear as day and the color is accurate.
This printer is a replacement for an ecotank printer that had print heads dry out in just a month. Amazingly, this printer is less than $50 more than that inkjet!
This printer replaces our very old workhorse with a similar newer, lighter, wifi, color, laser in a small business. We didn't need the fax but needed the scanner & copier. It installed easily, is smaller and lighter, works fine. There's no ethernet port, but we connected via USB and shared it on the network. Colors are crisp and clear, various paper weights no problem. Default settings work with QB Desktop 2018. Nice, reasonably priced solution.
I just bought this printer and set it up a couple of hours ago.
I didn't have good experience with ink jet printers due to the ink going dry and make the printer not working (I am not heavy printer user) so after doing lots of research and based on others review I decided to buy this Brother printer.
The setup was very easy and the instructions that came with it were very clear and easy to follow. I downloaded and installed the latest FW and SW from the Brother website with no issues.
The wi-fi connection works very well and the printer stays connected even after it has gone into deep sleep (One of the reviews I read said that it had some issues with wifi).
I will update this review in a few months after I have used this printer for a while.
I'm actually unhappy with my purchase because I wanted the scan-to-Dropbox (or webmail) functionality but that was my fault for not seeing that this device does not have Brother's WebConnect functionality. I should have guessed it given the low price! This machine is cheap for what it can do, the web interface allows you to easily configure scan-to-network or scan-to-ftp, works like a charm.
This replaced an all in one ink jet printer that cost a small fortune to run.
Between ink wasted cleaning print heads, or drying out, it was not worth
feeding it ink anymore.
Laser printer toner cartridges may seem costly, but last much much longer,
and provide more actual printing if you only print occasionally. Scanner/printer
works great as a copier and scanner, the printer integrated as a network printer
without a hiccup.
Very pleased with unit, glad I moved to laser... worth it
