Thank you everyone for reviewing this and explaining how these are the best. How can anyone rave about something like instant noodles? Well, I have to join the crowd. My family LOVES these! These noodles are the best, quick lunch or dinner! We have been eating way more noodles than we probably should do! The noodles are heftier and a little chewy....more substantial than ramen. And they hold up over time! I had made some for lunch one day & had to run an errand. When I got back an hour later, the noodles were not soggy! I just heated it up in the microwave and had my yummy lunch!
Tips:
1. These don't really have to be cooked on the stove. We just pour boiling water over them and let them sit for a few minutes.
2. The seasoning is pretty hot. We sometimes use 1/2 or 1/3 of the packet and put in a boullion cube. The rest of the seasoning makes a nice clear soup later in the day.
3. We like to add a dash of toasted sesame oil. mmmm.....
4. We like more vegetables, but that's a little tricky in the office. So I found Amy's natural freeze-dried vegetables (from amazon), and those are perfect. We sprinkle some on before pouring in the hot water.
These are GREAT ramen noodles all things considered. I’m a ramen foodie and nothing beats the authenticity of traditional Ramen. However if you’re on a budget this is definitely the way to go. The noodles taste great, the spices are amazing. I love spicy food and this product definitely doesn’t disappoint! Just beware if you don’t like spicy use less of the seasoning packet. One pack is very filling and that’s coming from me a decent sized guy. I like to add green onions, cilantro, a soft boiled egg, and sautéed pork loin. Takes 20min max to prep with these additions(see pic). You won’t be disappointed with this product.
I think that this is my favourite not-fresh ramen. I love these. They are just spicy enough, and very tasty. The vegetable packet is more generous than other brands of ramen (still could be a little bigger, lol). The noodles come round, rather than square like some other brands, too. Also, I taste the dry noodles. These have a nice flavor before you cook them, whereas many other brands do not. They taste, smell, and look like of much better quality than most. I am comparing these mainly to U.S. brands of ramen, but some Japanese brands, as well! This ramen comes with 3 different packets. 2 seasoning packets, and one veggie packet. The seasoning packets are larger and more flavorful than other brands.
As for eating them, these noodles are good alone... but they are GREAT when you take the time to eat them the way ramen should be eaten--with additions!
I cook some pork tenderloin, and slice it thin. I soft - medium boil an egg. I sautee scallions, daikon (if I don't have that, I use just regular white radishes), enoki mushrooms (regular ol' white or bella mushrooms if I don't have those), and other veggies. Boil some fishcake/narutomaki (if I have it). Lastly, I make the ramen. All of this delicousness goes on top of the ramen.
Let me start off by saying that these noodles are amazing! I followed the recommendations of other reviews and added eggs. For me this makes a MAJOR difference! Adding eggs gives these noodles such great flavor. I found that adding a bullion cube of either chicken or beef to the boiling water enhances the flavor. Once the noodles are boiling in the broth I gently crack a few eggs into the pot and then turn the heat down to simmer for about 3 minutes. While simmering gently tilt the pot back and forth so that the broth coats the eggs. Cook the eggs to your liking and that’s it! I like to add a little red onion in the end for an extra pop of flavor
Nongshim, do NOT ever change or discontinue this product! I consider myself a ramen/r[l]amyeon connoisseur and I've tried nearly every ramen Nongshim has on the market here in the USA. The vegan veggie by far is the BEST of all the company has to offer. First, we start with the noodle. It has a phenomenal mouth-feel to it. Unlike other noodles that get mushy if they soak up the broth, this noodle remains al dente and still has a good, firm texture that satisfies the pleasure of eating, as well as fills the tummy! The broth. I honestly wasn't expecting a spicy broth, but uh...it's Korean, so what was I thinking? The surprise was a pleasant one. I was expecting a slightly bland vegetable broth, but Nongshim makes a home run with a broth that bites back. Add a few fresh vegetables or top this off with a fried egg and you've got a perfect comfort food that is filling and warming for winter night munchies. Even in the summer, the broth is so clean on the palate and refreshing that a side of avocado or sliced cucumbers would make this a vegan dream!
Customer Warning: This is a Korean ramen, hence it is spicy. I've eaten Nongshim's spiciest and thought I'd wind up with blisters on my lips! (It was a good spicy, still.) So, I've run the scale of spiciness with this brand. If you shy away from buffalo wings or the idea of cracked red pepper on your pizza or Italian dish is not an option, this may not be for you. Do NOT expect a mild chicken soup flavor. In Korea, THIS is MILD because Korean dishes are typically so hot that Americans often have trouble eating there when touring. Still, this is a good place to start if you want to build up your tolerance to spicy Korean foods. Start here and work your way up. Step away from Top Ramen and Maruchan. While they're cheaper, you get what you pay for (and I grew up on those two). Even if you can't handle spice, try this anyway. You'll get used to it. I did.

These are some of the best noodles I switch back and forth from Shin Black to Shin Ramyun for whichever is my favorite. The spice is just the right amount of heat I want in my noodles. The broth has a good flavor considering all you're doing is putting it with water and throwing it in the microwave.
I've ordered this 5 times so I've gone through about 100 of these total not including the ones I've bought at the supermarket. I definitely recommend it on flavor alone. My only issue with this product is occasionally I get a package or two in a box that is missing soup base and the vegetable mix.
My husband loves these, but it "ruined" any chance of him being satisfied with the cheaper Ramen choices.
This is a thicker brick of noodles and comes with a spicier seasoning and some tiny bits of dehydrated veg.(carrot, green onion and mushroom).
It's not health food (especially if using the MSG flavor packet), but my husband sees it as a satisfying treat after work. It's an occasional welcome break from me having to cook a full meal.
A great way to make it heartier and healthier...add an egg to the water as the noodles cook, a dash of spicy oil and some kimchi and/or another veg.
When i was looking around for vegan ramen i came across nongshim veggie, dr.mcdougalls, top ramen oriental, and top ramen spicy. I couldn't decide so i ordered all 4.
Dr. Mcdougall: bland, didn't taste anything, but it wasn't bad
Top ramen oriental: considering how much ive heard of it, it wasn't good at all. I personally didnt like. it tastes at little below average, maybe the ramen i had before were top knot, but i wasn't wowed.
Top ramen spicy: it wasn't spicy! it tasted so similar to the oriental
NONGSHIM SOON VEGGIE NOODLE: amazing! besides it from being vegan, it was the best ramen ive ever tasted. Personally for me it wasn't at all spicy.
I generally try to keep a few packs at home for rainy days when I don't feel like cooking. Whether you cook this by itself, or you beef it up with a few additions, this is by far one of the best "instant" noodles you can get. You definitely have to boil it for a while, but the results are significantly better than microwave or boil-pour instant noodles. You can add scallions/green onion, crack in an egg and stir it in, meats and whatever vegetables into it while they're cooking to really fill it up. I generally use 1/2-3/4" flavor packet, and keep the rest (good with scrambled eggs!). If I have a cold, this helps with my sinuses significantly.
I also try to make sure I buy it when it's on sale. Stores around here have 4 packs for $6.50, but Amazon regularly has it on sale for 20 for ~$20 or under. I don't eat it often, so one pack will generally last me most of the year.
gourmet ramen? is that an oxymoron?
nope.
this is the real deal, this ramen has a texture that is unmatched. the seasoning is SO GOOD that I hoard extra packets or portions of packets and use this seasoning as an all purpose addition to other foods that I'm cooking or eating.
I've tried so many types and brands of ramen, but I just can't find even one that is close to this brand and flavor.
it's a bit hot, so if you don't like pepper, you might want to use less of the flavor packet while cooking.
where this brand shines is the unique texture, it doesn't have that mushy or overly soft texture that is found in so many domestic ramen and even international brands. this one has a decent bite to it, so it really fills you up, and feels satisfying when you eat it. a true meal.
this stuff is so good that after a long hard day at work, a hearty bowl of this soup is an awesome meal to quickly cook and enjoy while watching Dramafever and unwinding.
the price that it's listed at now (approximately $1 per packet) is better than the local Asian markets or anywhere else online. the price can fluctuate, so if you see it @ or around $1 per pack, that's the best deal, and I encourage you to go ahead and try it. i've got it on subscribe & save because it's at the affordable price right now.
this is ramen you feel good eating, proud serving or sharing with friends.
