I Usually never write reviews and I believe this is my first time writing a review for a product but this speaker was just too amazing for me not to tell everyone about it. The sound is crystal clear and very wonderful and for all you bass lovers, this is the product for you!!! I’m literally in love with the Bass because it’s just amazing!! Well done JBL!
Expensive, convenient and badass.
I recently bought 4 of these along with the carrying cases and took them on a trip to Turks and Caicos for a wedding (two of these in cases will fill up 1 medium check-in bag).
During the trip I literally had over four different people order these after seeing them, they were definitely a hit. Needless to say we provided the beach with music and 4 speakers provided an awesome immersive surround sound around the pool at night. Even the resort workers were complimenting the sound over their own sound system. I even have a friend of mine buying these for their boat rather than installing outdoor speakers...they truly are versatile and you can take them anywhere.
The only downside is the cost. They are expensive, and they definitely sound best when you have more than one to experience a surround sound - the advantage of multiple speakers means you don’t have to turn them up as loud keeping the nice bassy punch at mid-high volume.
My biggest and best bluetooth speaker! even makes a fantastic soundbar! Gets plenty loud enough for me and so grateful for connect plus! Ever since I've had this thing I'm had a way better music experience! Plays everything I listen to like a champ with details that I never even knew where present. I believe it hits a bit lower bass note then what is stated on the papers. Love this thing it's never leave my possession!
Just took this to Lake of the Ozarks for a 3 day weekend and really put this speaker through the ringer. I was really nervous to put this in the water because it's got some weight to it. As advertised, it performed great in the water. Watching it hit some deep bass while in the water is super cool. One feature I would suggest for future models, is a way to flip through songs from the speaker. Getting out of the water to do that was a little cumbersome. I will still give this 5 stars as it is one of the coolest products I've ever purchased. The battery life and sound quality far surpassed my expectations.
This is amazing! If you’re willing to pay the cost I assure you it is worth it. The bass and clarity of the sound is unbelievable. We have taken this to the beach (it’s waterproof) and entertained everyone within 50 yards from us (be sure to download the JBL app) when put on outdoor mode. Inside the house - wow. We listen to music on the JBL over our $4k + home theater due to the ease to connect from our phones and the the room filling bass is unbelievable. Also, multiple phones can connect at once (e.g. your friend is playing a crappy song you can use your phone to change it) plus you can connect multiple compatible JBL units in “party mode” and control them all from 1 phone. Truly an amazing and versatile piece of entertainment. I have not found any other portable Bluetooth speaker that has the options and performance that this does and it honestly puts anything Bose has to shame. Again, the bass and dynamics out of this is unreal.

So much versatility, huge battery, lasts all day, loud sound, waterproof, the list goes on. I just bought this to try out at my daughters birthday and it was definitely impressive. Right out of the gate I was carrying way too many things and spilled water all over it, no big deal, its water proof! I set it up outside for our party and everyone who noticed it was impressed at the amount of sound coming from this thing. It lasted a whole day with my Note 8 plugged into it and still has charge a week and a half later. I'm thoroughly impressed. The rear rubber flap could have had better placement, a little higher up so the USB cables aren't so low incase someone accidentally rolls the speaker backwards with something plugged in, but that's just being nit picky. Would definitely buy again!
Did a lot of research. Immediately after unboxing and firing it up, it blew me away! Beautiful warm sound on either mode (indoor/outdoor). I typically leave it on indoor mode.
Took it to a pool party, and floated it. We were amazed how good it sounds underwater. Not just producing sound, but actually could hear vocals.
Everyone went crazy for it. So crazy, two other people ordered one that day for our upcoming camping trip! We will have the JBL wall of sound!
Hopefully this review might be useful for those trying to decide between the Xtreme 2 and the Boombox. I really love stereo separation, and I really love bass, so I compromised and bought two Xtreme 2's first. Although the Xtreme is a solid, high-quality speaker, I was really disappointed with the power and the low end. I returned the Xtreme 2's and bought a Boombox and let me tell you, a single Boombox completely BLOWS AWAY even two Xtreme 2's. Both the sheer loudness and especially the bass are in a completely different universe with the Boombox. The sound was so awesome that I went and splurged on a second one so I could experience stereo and I have not looked back. Unless you need a high end receiver and giant floor speakers, I think that the Boombox will completely satisfy even those who want a driving bass beat, as in heavy rap or 70's disco. The old school boomboxes have NOTHING on this 60-watt monster! Highly recommended.
This is the best portable speaker, hands down. From SONOS Play 5 to the BOSE SoundTouch 30, to smaller speakers in between, I’ve tried them all. This JBL Boombox, although looks ugly lol, has the BEST sound and BEST bass AND it’s battery powered. The Play 5 and ST30, although considered “portable”, need to be plugged in and are cumbersome to move. The SONOS definitely sounded better than the Bose but didn’t have a way to change volume other than through the app. So I’d have to unlock my phone, keep it near me first of all, then wait for it to connect to the speaker and then it’ll change the speaker volume while simultaneously changing your phones ringer volume. Returned immediately. The BOSE can be connected via Bluetooth to use your phones hardware volume buttons but didn’t sound nearly as....”crisp”...as when using the Bose app, which had similar issues with the volume controls. The Bose’s bass was also seriously lacking. Horrible. Not worth $500. Here comes the JBL. After seeing raving reviews on Amazon, along with other reviews from tech websites, i wondered to myself how good a waterproof speaker can REALLY be. Boy, am I blown away! This thing has the perfect balance of highs, mids and lows (not looking at you audiophiles) for your everyday listening. On top of that, you can also easily adjust your music app’s EQ in its settings for that fine tuned sound, something seriously lacking on the Bose. To top it all off, it’s ACTUALLY portable! You can take this thing off it’s charger and carry it around anywhere while STILL sounding GREAT! No distortion here at higher volumes. Trust me, THIS is the speaker you want to invest in. JBL is really outdoing themselves with this one. Buy it and see for yourself.
really love the jbl boombox , well worth the money paid for it , was not expecting it to be a bulky an big but , great quality , an I would pay it again if I bought another
