AUKEY Dash Cam, Dashboard Camera Recorder with Full HD 1080P, 6-Lane 170° Wide Angle Lens, Supercapacitor, G-Sensor and Clear Nighttime Recording

AUKEY Dash Cam, Dashboard Camera Recorder with Full HD 1080P, 6-Lane 170° Wide Angle Lens, Supercapacitor, G-Sensor and Clear Nighttime Recording

This camera this works great. Two weeks after I installed it I was hit on the side by a truck on the freeway and lost my front bumber cover. Could have been much worse. The video captured everything. I sent the video to my insurance co and they’re taking care of it. The only bad part of using consumer lever dash cams is they can’t see bright reflective lic plates directly in front of the camera, and this one is no different. But I still real happy with the camera. If you buy this camera, also be sure to get the GPS antenna.

Let me start of by saying, I’ve owned a lot a lot of dashcams including big name brands like Rexing V1 with 4K video recording. But I will say this for sure, this dashcam exceeds all my last dashcams by along shot! For the low price this camera is priced at, it is a bargain! The Rexing V1 costs double and it isn’t as good as this dashcam. I know the V1 records in 4K and Aukey records in 1080P only, but for some reason the Aukey resolution makes it so much easier to read the license plates even at night. This is the best dashcam ever. Totally recommend it!

I love this cam - it's clear, and even at 75+ miles an hour against a determined hawk - you can see some great detail. I also purchased the optional GPS for speed. FYI - the video is crystal clear in the original - i don't know why Amazon compressed it further... I posted a screen shot of the video to show the clarity

Pros: Easy install. The power cord exits at the top toward where it routes, therefore no wrapping around the side -- straight into the headliner and gone. No lettering/branding on front keeps it stealthy and renders not worth stealing as HD performance is not touted and left as an unknown. Great video quality for price point. No noticeable fish-eye effect -- very good lens. Fit, finish and functionality of Aukey products is superb, and why I rolled the dice on their camera. Not disappointed.

Cons: 3M adhesive pad is white, not black as shown in photo as mounted. On Honda's there's a silk-screened dot pattern surrounding the mirror that somewhat hides this, however for other vehicles this reduces stealth. It would be very nice to have had second mounting clip included to facilitate moving among vehicles, but only one is supplied despite all the other freebie accoutrements for mounting and installation. Color saturation is reduced on bright objects. Tag resolution is marginal at modest distances, but acceptable for the price. No special markings for the "save" button, ideally this would be red or tactile differentiated. Screen it tiny (but so is camera). If in an accident you'll probably have to remove the SD card and replay in a laptop.

Tip: Purchase a vinyl siding removal (zip) tool. Search Amazon using "MWT-ST". Makes lifting plastic and weatherstripping to tuck in the wiring an effortless snap. Tool is also smooth and blunt as to not mar auto interior finishes. They are also available at Lowes and HD.

I've just uploaded a recent video from this dash cam that I installed 9 months ago (one in the front with GPS, one in the back without GPS). Both are still working faithfully, providing extra protection for me on the road. I had tried a few other dash cameras that cost twice as much but the images were not as clear and one of them malfunctioned during the few weeks. Not with this Aukey dash cam, it has proven itself to be worthy of my purchase. Video image is clear both day and night and I've had no issue with it for the past 9 months.
***It is very important to reformat the SD cards on monthly basis though and you can do so directly on the dash cam. (I forgot to reformat the card once and it stopped recording.)

If you want a device to record your driving day or night with crystal clear video, this is it! I was skeptical about this dash cam because I also have a Blackvue dash cam in my car and a Rexing installed in another, which were both more expensive than this one. This Auxey dash cam I put in my daughter's car. She is still a teenager so in case of an accident, or if I want to monitor her driving, I can simply view the video. Video footage is on par with both of my more expensive cams. If more features are what you are looking for, such as GPS, Wifi viewing and downloading then these features you have to get in another cam. I actually prefer that you don't have to use a proprietary program to view video on a computer. With my blackvue, I would take the micro sd out put in in my reader, open the program, then click on to view it. If I wanted to save it, the program would convert it to a .mp4 file. With the Aukey it automatically records in .mp4 so you stick the micro sd in the computer, click on the file and it starts to play. Highly recommended.

This is my first dash camera. I was trying to buy something good for less than $100 so I spent hours watching videos on Youtube comparing recording quality. I've found better quality only on the few dashcams that were 4-5 times more expensive than this AUKEY camera. After receiving it I checked its videos and I\m very satisfied. I recommend to use high endurance memory cards only

This is a great dash cam but as other reviewers have mentioned, do not use the included charger. It is faulty/loose and will have the camera randomly restarting. I bought a different generic USB car charger and haven't had an issue. I'd also recommend running the wire up through your headliner, down the pillar and wire it in to the accessory power on your stereo. That way you don't have a cable visible in the cab (or just a little behind the mirror) and you're not occupying a car charger slot. To wire it into the stereo I used the following:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CQMQL9L/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I paired it with a SanDisk 64GB high endurance SD card and haven't had any issues yet (please note that you can't use just any SD card, go with a class 10 card, I put an older 32GB card in and it complained that write speed was too slow and wouldn't record). My only complaint is that I wish there was a setting so when it turns on it makes no sound and the screen stays off. There is a screensaver option to have it turn off in as little as a minute, but just having it turn on and start recording without turning the screen on at all would be optimal.

For the record, I mounted mine in a 2012 Nissan Frontier and the camera has to go below the rearview mirror so it is kind of obvious and not as hidden as their generic install pictures make it, but I've gotten used to it quickly and it doesn't block my vision.

I have had this for a month now. It is very stealthy and hardly noticeable where mounted. So far i had one incident where i wanted to pull the video. I locked the video and brought it up on my computer. The quality was amazing and it locked the file correctly. It always turns on with the car and has many great features. I would say on of the best dash cams i have had. I would recommend and buy again.

First and best Dash-cam I ever brought. The adhesive is still good after almost a year of use. Can withstand high heat in summer weather. Instructions of installation was simple and straightforward. Picture quality was HD and very clear to see in the dark. Having a dashcam is worth it and it is like extra insurance but small investment for a long-time return.
