I've had these straight from the supermarket and loved them - the Raspberry and Blueberries were my favorite flavors. Got this large box from Amazon and, while the price was great for the amount you get, the taste is totally off. When you first bite into them, you get a distinct flavor of cherry cough syrup (GROSS!!). I've had the raspberry flavor many times and never had this issue before. Gave one to my co-worker (she was the one who introduced me to the Nature's Bakery bars) and she agreed. I don't know if I got a bad box, but they really taste bad :(
EDIT 02/17: Nature's Bakery sent me a replacement box, and these actually taste like raspberry :) thanks for standing by your product and offering excellent customer service! Updated review from 3 to 4 stars.
We received these fig bars today on January 20, 2017 from Amazon Prime the 1st time. The expiration date is August 16, 2018. Those Nature's Bakery Fig Bars are fig'n awesome! There are 12 individually wrapped packs and each of the packs has 2 fig bars in them. i was only going to eat 1 of the bars, because each bar has 10 grams of sugar per bar and i have to watch my sugar intake. Well it tasted so good that i ate the other bar too. it's great that the first ingredient is stone ground whole wheat flour. The taste and the amount of the fig- and blueberry paste is just right. You do taste the blueberry and i think it's just the perfect combination of all the ingredients. The only problem with this product is that you wanna eat them all too fast. Amazons price of $5.00 a box is amazing and i will definitely order more. Plus raspberry sounds really good too and they've got it. The ingredients are healthy. i like that. it's a vegan product. PS:Maybe i'll make a video food product review of this product once. i haven't been able to upload my videos to my computer lately. Sabiene:)
BEWARE! I have ordered these bars many times. This last time, I ordered 4 large boxes of strawberry and got 1 strawberry and 3 apple cinnamon. No one at my house eats apple cinnamon. When I went to return them I selected replacement, expecting to have to ship all of them back (including the strawberry I'd actually prefer to keep since we can't get them locally right now). After I ordered the replacement I noticed that the bar code on the apple cinnamon actually says, "Strawberry." I've included a picture. So, I'm hoping I don't get more apple cinnamon!
The strawberry bars, when we have them, are beloved of the kids. They don't like any of the other flavors, though I think many of them are good. The lemon is great for a fig bar, in my opinion.
So, are the products pulled off the shelf by robot, or are the people who do this not given a text description of any kind? Any human who knew they were looking for strawberry would know that the boxes were mislabeled.
These bars are:
- Full of real flavor, like that of real food
- Low cholesterol (I have to keep an eye on mine)
- Soft and chewy
I've tried hundreds of health bars by now and most taste of regret and cardboard. But not these. These are incredible.
I first had them through a snack delivery service we use at work. They deliver a variety of healthy snacks every month, but I always found myself digging through each batch to pick out these fig bars. Instead of waiting for the next shipment, I decided to order a box of bars for myself.
They're the perfect snack since they're semi-sweet and dense, but not full of preservatives or other trash. One cookie staves off hunger for a few hours. (Each individual package comes with two.)
I especially love having them for breakfast when I'm too lazy to cook in the morning (all the time).
After having tried and loved other products from Nature’s Bakery (fig bars and honey & oat bars) I figured I’d give these a go. I’m glad I did. These are not the gooey, super rich chocolate brownies that you’d get from the bakery or make at home. If you’ve tried Nature’s Bakery’s fig bars, these are pretty much the same texture (maybe a little more dense and moist) but a rich, not overly-sweet cocoa that blends very well with the mild date flavor. I wasn’t sure my husband would like these, as he is a bit of a junk-dessert snob and tends to poo-poo my healthier snacks, but he says he actually prefers these to the ones our local bakery makes. My young daughters really like these, too, and I don’t mind them having these for the occasional snack or after dinner treat.

Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bars are fuel for everyday life's great journeys. Made with wholesome and natural ingredients, our delicious soft-baked baked bars are filled with real fruit for an on-the-go snack that satisfies. Perfectly portioned in two bars, our twin-packs don't melt, crumble or break--they're the daily snack companion you can rely on to be there when you need them most.
I've tried a lot of natural non-GMO and organic bars. I don't care about gluten and I'm not a vegan, but I do care about flavor. The fact is most of them make me forget my good intentions because they taste like cardboard. These do not! I've shared them with friends and family and everyone has liked them. I'm not going to lie, there's a little bit of an odd flavor when you first start eating them, but it is not bad just different. There's two of them in this little package about the size of Fig Newtons. When I first opened it I was like dang these are tiny. However, they are very fiber dense and definitely take the edge off your hunger while satisfying a sweet tooth. On a funny note I gave a couple packages to a nurse at work who normally only has a bowel movement once or twice a week and she confronted me a couple days later because these made her regular. For the record they didn't have that effect on anyone else. Nature's Bakery does make a non GMO, organic version of these, but it hasn't been available for several months. You can get put on the alert list to be notified when they are available again; not sure what happened with that.
These bars are similar to fig bars that you buy in the store but are larger and not as sweet. There's 2 bars per packet. I love them! I love the whole wheat outside crust and the inside fruit! Honestly, I eat them for breakfast lots of the time. My favorite are the chocolate bars! If you want moist, delicious, and chocolate, then these bars in chocolate are tremendous! I still love both the raspberry and blueberry fruit flavored bars and have eaten them the most. My recommendation would be for you to give these bars a try. They make a great snack.
I certainly love these so very much. I use these as my snack on my journey to a healthier me, no guilt and very vegan.
I've read a review about some of the fig bars being of no use, that was not so for me and this is my second order. I would like to say to Nature's Bakery though that some of the individual wrappings at the center back are not sealed sufficiently needs more adhesive, this may be the reason some goes bad. The two ends are secure very well, but where the wrap meets together at the back really needs more attention. I had to discard a few as a precaution. I certainly hope you see this review, that's the only fault I have but your product is top notch/height quality and you certainly have placed pride and integrity in them. Thank you
PROS:
I like that it's vegan.
I like that the outside is made of whole wheat instead of cheap refined white flour.
I like that they are reasonably substantial.
CON:
Too sweet. The filling is made of dates which are pretty sweet themselves. Did they really have to add sugar - which is the second ingredient by the way. In fact dried cane sugar is the second ingredient and fig paste is actually third. Then, there are additional sweeteners as sub-ingredients afterwards.
Are these the best snack in the world? No. BUT they keep true tother flavor, are a hearty bar and taste great! I like how they are "healthier" as far as ingredients vs the bigger name-brand. I like these and they are a good snack. As always, be mindful of the portion sizes with these as one package contains two servings! (Still yummy)
