This is the thing you need to buy when you lose the dingus that goes with your Logitech mouse or keyboard. You'll have to pair it with your device from your computer before it will work. As soon as you buy this, you will find the one you lost.
Update - I am ashamed that I had not looked up YouTube first, before I wrote the review below. I just looked up YouTube to see if anyone else solved this issue, and sure enough, you are to use Logitech Unifying Software to pair the devices with this receiver. I am now back in business!
For those who are experiencing the same issue I had, please go to the Logitech website, and type "Unifying Software". Then, everything esle will be self explanatory!
======================
Doesn't work. I had bought a pair of a wireless mouse and keyboard from Costco (Logitech model K520) and misplaced the receiver. After a research, I purchased this item. It does not work at all.
Actually this is a great item because it's mini-size so isn't as likely to get broken, more flush with the side of your laptop I mean to say. I take off one star because it would have been helpful if I had known I had to download special software to calibrate it with my mouse. Upon reflection, I should have figured that out for myself, but it would have been more helpful to me as a consumer if they had (and please do so if you wouldn't mind) INCLUDED THAT SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON THE SALE PAGE! Now I feel bad that I contacted them and said it didn't work, and they cheerfully refunded my money, but then later by scrolling down through the reviews some smart dude had posted this fix. Mea culpa.
Just arrived today (6/12/18). If you just plug it directly into your computer, it will not automatically pair with your mouse (or whatever). You have to open (or install and open) the "logitech unifying software" from the logitech website. Then it's very easy, intuitive, and fast to pair the mouse with your computer. It took 15 seconds. I suspect most of these negative reviews are from people who can't follow instructions to download the software or open it up (if already installed). I do have one concern though. The packaging of this device was a small plastic bag...definitely not official Logitech packaging. I suspect this is counterfeit. It works, but who knows what other crap (malware) might have come with it. If you're concerned about that, I would not buy this product here.
Got a device and your dongle crapped out because you've been using it with something like a laptop and plugging and unplugging it and it's just worn out? An actual Unifying receiver is just what you need. In many cases, your device didn't quit working, the DONGLE did. If you've got more than one Unifying device, you can just try to pair up the "dead" device with the other setup at least temporarily and see...or you can just buy this. It's cheaper than buying a whole new mouse/trackball/keyboard in most cases and in my case it fixed my problem. I'm using the trackball on the laptop to post this review.

Description
Unifying receiver for mouse and keyboard works with any Logitech product that display the Unifying Logo (orange star, connects up to 6 devices) For Logitech
I have two K400 keyboards. Each has its own receiver. The receiver that I didn't lose pairs immediately when I insert it - no driver installation necessary. However, I ordered the receiver for my other keyboard whose receiver I lost. When I inserted the new receiver, it didn't pair at all after several attempts. At least not until I downloaded and installed the driver from the official Logitech website. I thought that would be unnecessary but I was wrong.
On one hand, I feel like giving this product 3 stars for the extra effort but I'm so appreciative of having a working keyboard I'll give it 5. I recommend this device to anyone who has lost their receiver. But, try install the driver and pair the keyboard before you give up and return it.
Logitech has really done a good job with this receiver. It does exactly what it's supposed to with ease. I use it with one of their wireless keyboards and M325c mouse. I had to download a little software initially to get things started but after that, it has been smooth sailing. Very easy to get them both connected.
It appears on the surface to be the exact same physically as their other non-unifying receiver receivers (maybe it is all just a marketing ploy?!) so does not add any bulk. It can be stored the same as any other receiver inside the covering of one of their mice so very convenient. I usually leave it plugged into my laptop 24/7, so all I have to do is turn on the mouse and keyboard and there you go. I have not tried more than 2 products and am not sure how many it is rated for, but it works excellently with those 2 I use.
Overall, it can be very convenient for someone who uses multiple Logitech accessories with their computer and can save you USB ports and time from unplugging and re plugging various things.
So here's the deal - you have to install the software from Logitech and follow the instructions to pair the receiver with your gear. I won't work until you do. I kind of skipped over them and didn't think it would matter. Nope, follow the instructions and save yourself an hour.
The order you need to do this is:
1. Turn off keyboard and or/mouse
2 Install software and driver on computer using a different keyboard or mouse
3. Open the logitech software
4. Put in the USB receiver
5. Turn on your device for pairing
6. Click on "pair" in the Logitech software
I somehow misplaced the USB dongle for my Logitech K350 keyboard. Funny because I put a note on the original box which aparently reminds me of where the original actually is, but I can't read my own writing! This replacement worked fine and it will also accept certain models of their wireless mice. Carrying the Unifying certification, I would think it would work with all their USB input products, as well as those of other manufacturer's. It's not mentioned in the instructions but I would be interested in knowing.
BTW a warning. Windows 10 update has affected some systems; the keyboards have slow response. You litterally have to hold a key down for some 3-5 seconds before you get a response. I spent time researching this and apparently the most likely cause has to do with the EASE OF ACCESS section of your Control Panel. If you don't use the fully itemized version of Control Panel, select Control Panel and then from the old, normal control panel screen, go up to the file name and click the right arrow or down arrow that follows "Control Panel." If there is no arrow next to the name, just click on the name Control Panel at top and one will appear. Then select All Control Panel Items. You will now see a list of some 25 individual items rather than the old screen which has about six main categories. Now select Ease of Access, then "Make Keyboard Easier to Use." You will find a category regarding Filter Keys. It will read Turn On Filter Keys. If it is checked as being ON, uncheck the box. You don't want the filter keys on because that is the usual problem of having the slow response from the keyboard. Oh, one warning. Hit Apply. I forgot to and wasted another half hour trying to find a solution in the Registry which didn't work. I went back to Ease of Access and found the filters still being checked as ON. After trying three wired keyboards and one wireless without success, this was quite a good feeling!! If this isn't your problem, and you've already replugged in your USB cable, you are probably going to end up in the registry which is a place of last resort. I have no idea how the filter key got turned on but there is a suggestion that it may have to do with a Windows update. This seems to go back to Windows 7, but I have had Windows 10 for more than a year.
I purchased this receiver as I lost the one for my Logitech mouse. The pairing process was relatively simple, but requires software to be downloaded that is slightly finicky to re-pair the mouse or keyboard to the new receiver. This part of the process could use some refinement. The adapter works well, but occasionally the connection gets very spotty -- an issue that I didn't have before I replaced the adapter. This may be an issue isolated to my product, or an issue with the way they're designed -- I will likely switch to a Logitech bluetooth mouse shortly. Nonetheless, if you already have a Logitech mouse or keyboard missing the connector, this is perfect for you. I also learned that one of these adapters can connect up to 3 devices, and this can be done in the same software needed to pair the initial keyboard or mouse to the adapter.
