I really enjoyed this meal and so too the other two people who ate it. (I purchased two meals for 3 people.). I acknowledge the comments about it being salty and I had the same reaction at first when I tasted the broth. In fact, I ordered extra take out just in case no one liked their meal. BUT after I put the entire dish together, it really was not as salty as the broth alone. (I also do not have a heavy hand w salt so I did not over season the pollack separately. I always use a little less than I might otherwise with meal services and adjust in the end.) Once the entire dish was composed, however, it was not as salty as the broth alone. The spinach and rice did absorb quite a bit. In the end, I almost wish it had just a hint of spice to it but otherwise this is a tasty Asian influenced dish. And something different for dinner. The pollack was also very fresh. Relatively easy to prepare because it all ends up in one pan. I will definitely order it again.
I really enjoyed this dish.. it was so easy to prepare, and best of all, only took one pan too cook + a cutting board and knife! As people have mentioned, this dish is a bit salty but "miso" dishes (like miso soup, etc), is typically salty, so expect that... I personally loved it, so did my hubby. This was also a pretty fool proof way to cook fish as you just add it to coo I the broth with a lid and a simmer! I really enjoyed eating the Wild Alaska Pollock, so impressed!
You need to leave out the additional salt, since the combination of the broth and dark miso paste is salty enough. Otherwise the recipe is perfect.
Great taste and easy to make! My only complaint is that most of the spinach had gone bad, so I had to leave most of it out of the recipe.
Good flavor, if rather salty. I love that onions are already diced, and the ginger pureed - a much quicker meal prep than other meal kit services I’ve tried. It’s also nice that you can have Alexa walk you through step by step if you have an Echo. It’s nice not to have to keep looking for the recipe card.
The spinach in my kit had started to turn soft and I debated whether to use it or not. I ordered mine using Prime Now, and I suspect they only make the kits that haven’t sold when anticipated available on Prime Now rather than Fresh, so if you order off Prime Now, I would encourage that you plan to use it that day.

Description
Miso-poached pollock with ginger, spinach, mushrooms, and brown rice
the meal kit was very well-packed and the ingredients were all perfectly fresh. I cooked the meal 2 days after receiving it and everything was still fresh. the instructions are easy to follow. most of the knifework has already been done for you, except for chopping green onions, mushrooms, and garlic. the meal itself is easy to cook and would be very hard to mess up. i grilled the fish in an airfryer instead of searing on a pan. i did not add any salt to the dish at all, the miso and mirin-soy provide enough salt already and it would become too salty if I did add salt as instructed. the final product tastes well, but is slightly "soupy," so that the rice floats around in it. if cooking this again I would reduce/concentrate (i.e. boil) down the sauce to 1/3 of its volume, and cut the miso and mirin-soy amounts in half to avoid making it too salty when concentrated.
I am so grateful for the reviews and I’m glad I read them first. Picked this up at the local Whole Foods (no delivery to my area...booooo). I decided to peruse the reviews first (thankfully)! I made this according to specification and eliminated all additional salt. I also used only 4/5 of the miso paste and used unsalted butter. It’s delicious. Light but still feels like comfort food for my palate.
We enjoyed this meal a lot. Flaky white fish, savory sauce, tender mushrooms - yummy! After reading the reviews, I decided not to add any salt, and it was just right to my taste. I liked the simplicity and speed of cooking as brown rice was already precooked, onion diced and only one pan was required. Definitely will buy again!
PLEASE KEEP MAKING MEAL KITS!!!! Delicious! All ingredients were fresh. Loved the ginger flavor. Highly recommend if you want to try a new dish.
