The problem I had in my home was that WiFi was not able to reach all the rooms in my house; which happens to be 1255sf ranch style block home. Since my brother-in-law is an IT tech, he advised me to get an extender to assist with full coverage. I read the reviews on this product and was impressed and relieved that my search came to an end. I really like the touch screen and colorful display. Not a hard product to set up and works like a charm. I gave it 5 stars because it actually did what it was suppose to do. Their customer service line is awesome and they know what they are doing. Placement of this extender was set up on my rolltop desk midway in the house which is located in a perfect area. I was able to connect my printer to this extender and now I am able to print my schedules from my phone. The original modem was located in the living room and due to the location of the desk, it was not feasible to hook computer or printer in that room. Needless to say I now have full range WiFi in my home. I did review several products, but I kept comparing others to the Almond and Almond won hands down. There are a few Almond models, so its best to look at your situation and if you aren't sure which one to buy call their customer service for assistance. This items was purchased about 2 months ago and I wanted to give it time to perform before I left this review. As of this date 3/28/17 I want to say it was a perfect purchase for my situation. I think you will like it too.
I bought this to be a Wi Fi extender so I could get a solid signal out in my workshop. My house is a two story brick and wifi signals are notoriously bad, if you are trying to penetrating brick. I use mainly apple products and my Airport Extreme works well within the house and basement but really not much of a signal anywhere outside the house. I tried an Airport Express as an extender, but rarely got more than a couple of bars and much of the time nothing at all. So I decided to give this a try. True to the hype, I had it setup and running in less than 3 minutes. Be aware that when you are doing wifi setup it asks you how you want to name it. By default it will setup a separate network that uses your network name plus a ( _ almond). I chose to just use my network name. Went out to my shop with my iPhone and iPad. Voila-five bars. Excellent signal. My shop is about 50feet from the back of the house and kitchen and this is where I have the Almond sitting on my windowsill. So after one afternoon, I can give it glowing reviews. We'll see over time how atmospheric conditions affect the signal. A great little device with totally intuitive UI!
Product exceeds all expectations. Absolutely fantastic product. Definitely something I'll buy again.
I love this router. We needed a new one desperately, our 50 speed had dwindled down to about 10-15. I was getting very frustrated having to reset the router four to five times daily! So I did research and finally found this one. I had never heard of this company, but the reviews weren't bad and the price was right. So I took a shot! I'm so glad I did. It's very user FRIENDLY, it's touchscreen, it notifies me if someone connects to the network, easy to set up. If you have a security system you can connect it to it allowing you access from your cell phone, laptop, or tablet.
The screen on the side is easy to use, understand, and see. I just can't say enough about how much I LOVE this product! I check our speed regularly and have had no issues since we installed it. Our connection is now 50+ regularly, most of the time a little more and I have not had to reset it once.. Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an awesome product at such an awesome price!!
This product fills a niche which is surprisingly hard to find: A range extender that can receive its signal from an ethernet cable rather than wirelessly. Our home is an older home with a lot of dead spots and other range extenders have to be placed where they can receive a wireless signal and then retransmit it. This unit can do that, but where it shines is in being able to take a signal over ethernet and transmit wirelessly. We ran an ethernet cable to the back of our house, since other repeaters were having problems seeing around corners. Once hooked up this is as strong as our primary router ...
... however.
The touchscreen that makes it so easy to set up washed out and burned out on our first unit. Without it, you can't run the unit. After a few months, it also started dropping signals randomly, requiring a full re-setting of its main menu -- which because of the burned-out screen, became increasingly difficult and ultimately impossible. We really have no choice but to use ethernet-enabled repeaters, however, so we bought a second unit. So far it has been more durable than the first. We would encourage Securifi to make a beefier version of this unit and charge a bit more for it if necessary.
I bought this for my mom's place and I looooooove it! It's so user friendly and easy to install! I was anxious to try and do this by myself but setup is easy as pie! Its easy to see your password, change it and manage the devices that connect with it. A screen is so useful in this cases. The app is very intuitive as well! My old router just broke and I will buy a new one for myself very soon! You should give this product a try if you are in need of a router.
There's always room for improvement and I would suggest different colors and a different design overall... Maybe a flat device that doesn't stand out a lot and merges in the decoration of a living room would be great.

I purchased initially 1 of these devices with the intent of using it to replace an Apple AirPort Express in my upstairs workout room (which spent 90% of it's time blinking yellow offline in spite of HOURS I spent reconfiguring and troubleshooting the issue--and I work in technology so I know a thing or two about troubleshooting network issues).
I'm using this device as a WIFI extender. Yes, it's pricy to just use it only as a WIFI range extender but it WORKS so well. I was immediately impressed this device's ability to capture a weak WIFI signal and extend it to my upstairs. I was so impressed after using it for just a couple of days, that I ordered 2 more to replace 2 other Apple AirPort Express devices that spent most of the last 6 months in yellow blinking off-line mode. I'm now giving my 3 Apple Airport Express devices to a family member & I'm only using the Almond device in my own to extend WIFI moving forward. :-)
Just a quick note about how this device works in a home network with different technologies: I installed this device on my home network that's uses an Apple Airport Express Extreme router to deliver network services using wireless and wired connections. I have a mixed environment with all kinds of devices including: Apple computers, IOS, Android, ROKU devices & Windows computers. The Almond works perfectly to support all of these devices on my home network.
Although my husband and I took computer classes and even some programming in high school/college (in the 1980s-90s), we're not really "tech" people. We just want to turn on the computer and it work. We have a desktop and my laptop at home, both connected to the internet. Recently we had a lightening storm and our modem (supplied by the telephone company) and the Almond were damaged by lightening. The telephone company replaced our modem, and I contacted Securifi about the little Almond router. I honestly didn't know if they would cover it, as it was almost exactly 1 year old (we bought it on Sept. 17, 2017) AND the lightening storm might be considered an act of God. They looked at my old invoice and I sent them a photo of the Almond, and they covered it no questions asked. Within a few days to a week we had our new Almond. I called them this morning and a very nice young man helped me connect it to our modem and also get my laptop connected again. I can't say how well this device works for all the different operations people do today, but the customer support from this company for our issue has been top-notch. They have corresponded with me and called me several times, and encouraged me to contact them if we have any trouble whatsoever. Again, I don't know all the ways that people use these routers, but I have to say that I haven't had such good customer service from a company for a LONG time. I wish I could give them more stars for their customer service in our situation.
I purchased my first Securifi Almond back in October 2013. Five years later it died in November 2018. It was a very good product and lasted me a long time. There were some occasions where I had to reset it but the problems were easily fixed. It was so easy to set up my first one that I did not even realize there was a stylus to use until I tried setting up my second one. I just checked my first one and found the stylus at the bottom of the device that I never knew existed!!! Also, while setting up my second one I realized I could change the network name and the password! For the five years while using my first one I had been using the default network name and password that was provided to me. I had no idea I could change it! That was how simple this router was! Literally it was plug and play for me.
Now I've purchased another Securifi Almond and the set up was just as easy as the first one, except this one is a little more high tech. You are advised to download the Security Almond app after connecting your router to the internet. I'm not sure if its required to download the app but it was simple enough and it allowed me to track the number of devices connected to my router. I had no idea I had so many devices connected! Thankfully the router and connection are still very fast even with so many devices connected.
I highly recommend this product and I hope my second device will last me another five years like my first one did. Fingers crossed!
...What more do you need? The setup might be the easiest ever for a tech device. It detected my wifi box and everything emanating from it perfectly. If I recall I might have had to enter the wifi password once, but that's it. I installed it downstairs in a small house to amplify the wifi signal originating upstairs. It does the job well. It's tiny. It's unobtrusive. It also has a bunch of interesting utility applets that might be helpful but all I know is I have a strong wifi signal for my Apple TV, XBox360, cable box (loathsome Comcast) and (most importantly) MLB.TV and Internet radio via Apple TV.
I really like this router, now that I got it working everywhere. I am using this as my primary router and not a signal extender. Speaking of which, my pre-existing extender in my dining room basically allows my Windows 10 PC to reach the router in the family room with a decent signal. BUT...in order to get it to "see" this new router, it needed a QSS function on the Almond router, which apparently it does not have. So I worked days getting my TP-LINK extender in the dining room to recognize this router. Finally, I put the older router I had (with a QSS) in the dining room, and fired it up, even though no cable Cat V was connected. This allowed my extender to acknowledge a valid QSS. Then, I disconnected the old router in the dining room, and FINALLY the extender acknowledged this new router, allowing me to have connectivity in the dining room. So, this is why I've bumped the rating to 4 stars.
