I have a total of 3 Roku devices in my household and I love them. I have tried Fire Stick and Apple TV but they don't work as well as the Roku Streaming Stick. This purchase was a refurbished product but it is in perfect condition and it works just as well as the non-refurbished stick I own. Came with the latest remote and a power supply. I had a difficult time with a consistent wi-fi signal on the Fire Stick but I don't have that issue with the Roku Stick. I also love that I can control the power and volume of my TV with the Roku remote.
Almost identical to Roku Express. I bought 1 of each and the only difference I see is that the Roku Stick remote has a microphone.
The microphone is cool, but it isn't great. It has to be 2-5 inches from your mouth and even then might miss a syllable or 2. The reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5, it because of Roku's limitations. The remotes all have very few buttons because there are many conveniences of TV and cable remotes that aren't available for internet TV.
The things I miss immediately are:
1) Seeing the progress when you Fast Forward or Rewind. If you use these, you have to guess when to stop.
2) There is a 10-15 second rewind button, but not a skip ahead button.
3) There is not an info button, so you can not get program info while watching a program.
4) If you stop a program in the middle, many of them automatically start from the beginning when you go back in, so you can't pick up where you left off, and if you try to Skip to where you left off, you have to guess (see issue #1).
5) The pre-programmed buttons can not be modified.
6) I quit watching live TV several yrs ago, so I'm used to being able to FF through commercials, but, I'll adapt again.
7) There is no way to channel surf. You can't scan programs while watching a program.
I recently cut the cord to cable tv! No more paying monthly for boxes or cable I don’t use. It’s a freeing feeling! If your questioning whether to do it-Just do it...and by a Roku Streaming Stick. One purchase and done ✅! Of course you still need internet and a streaming service.
I currently have Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video and now YouTube TV. I know your saying I have a lot and should have just kept cable, but three are trials and even with all of them it would still be cheaper than cable and renting boxes monthly). I will only be keeping Prime Video and You Tube TV.
I previously had Amazon Fire Sticks (which are great but it doesn’t have an app for You Tube TV (which streams live tv that I do want like news and sports). So I tried cromecast (not so good, doesn’t have a remote, have to use app). I also hated using my TV remote to turn tv on and off and change in input to what stick I was going to use. So I went from 1 remote with cable to 2 remotes and a phone to control the TV - solution Roku !
With the Roku streaming stick, I am able to watch all of the apps I have using one device and the best thing is that it has a remote that easily pairs with your TV and controls the tv on and off buttons and volume.
Because I now have YouTube TV, I can watch Live TV. Everyone is so used to flipping channels the remote also allows you to do that when using the You Tube App. So my husband is extremely happy!
The only thing this remote doesn’t have is an input/source button (why I gave it 4 stars) Although I don’t need it anymore my son who plays video games would need it to change input to play his video games. (Well and a digital clock where the cable box used to be-only other complaint from family 😁)
I have a Samsung smart TV that's a few years old and the apps are getting really slow, as I don't think they are getting updated anymore on my model. For instance, I still have the old slow version of Hulu on there, and Netflix takes forever to load due to the automatic preview videos.
This thing has been great, and really updated the TV. Not only is it snappy and responsive, it also has significantly better picture quality over the built in apps. It's a huge improvement, and great if you have a decent 1080p TV. If you have a 4k TV, I'd probably recommend springing for a more expensive model or even an Apple TV 4k. However, if you just want a fast and responsive streaming device for a 1080p unit, you can't go wrong with this.
This is the 4th or 5th Roku I've purchased either for myself or as a gift over the years. There's no better streaming system around if you ask me. The navigation system is the easiest and most intuitive I've used in a streaming device, and you have the added benefit of sticking it to Google and Amazon in the process.
This device in particular has displayed one problem that deserved a star reduction. The Roku draws power via USB plugged into the television. When the TV is powered off the Roku receives no power and does a full restart every time the TV is turned on. Generally, it's very fast, but quite regularly the Roku is unresponsive for a minute or two after booting, ostensibly because it is processing something in the background. After that everything runs smoothly, but it is quite annoying. Otherwise I'm very happy, and this probably won't be my last Roku!

This little jewel opens up hundreds of viewable tv channels to us without having to pay a monthly fee for another cable box. I’ll be honest, I have no clue how it works, but it does work and it saves me money, so I like it. Plus I could set it up by myself and I’m no techie.
Since Spectrum’s digital conversion our whole community is going over to this Roku streaming stick and virtually everyone is happy with it, which is an amazing thing in itself. I mean really how often do you get everyone satisfied with any product? Not very often, hence my amazing comment. Buy it, set it up, and enjoy.
Couldn't be easier to hook up and the speed and picture quality is fantastic. I'm no electronic buff and have a basic HDTV, but the picture is great. The Roku setup process is a little unnecessary, but if you purchase products and shows often it works to your benefit. My only actual qualm with the Roku is that the power button on the remote is solely for the TV and if you turn your TV off without returning to the main menu, your show/movie will continue to play. I unknowingly missed about 4 episodes of a Netflix show. So just make sure you return to the app menu or the Roku menu before shutting it off. I do love the universal remote - it works great and feels great in the hand. Very intuitive.
This is a great product! Item came in as described in new condition. Warning! If your tv is not strong enough to power the stick you will need to plug in the adapter. Depending on where your outlet is this can be tedious. If the outlet is below the tv. The powercord might pull the stick downward bending it. The cord is short so you might need a long extension cord. Other then this one situation. I give it four stars. I would recommend this product. I also would buy again. I use it on an old LCD tv that I hang in my little ones room. So if needed they can watch their shows or get to playing. The advanced remote is easy to use. It syncs with your tv really easily. The directions are easy to follow as well. Enjoy!
I bought the Roku Stick to carry with me while I travel to use instead of the sub-par options available in most hotels. The biggest problem came after I got home and hooked up on a TV in my bedroom. It worked so well I have had to leave it there and purchase another one to put in my travel bag.
Pros:
- Works the same as any Roku I have used before. Played all of the video I tried no problem.
- Small and easy to carry.
- Can be powered from a USB port on the TV
- Roku has a very clever method to connect to hotel wi-fi. (The captive portal is passed through to you phone).
Con:
- The remote is unreliable. When it works, the remote is great with full control over the power and volume of the TV. At first it takes the remote almost a minute to connect to the Roku after it powers on, that is understandable. The bad is the rate it has been eating through batteries. With moderate use a few times a week I have already had to change the batteries twice in the last three months.
I purchased this because I previously owned an Amazon Stick and they don't like to have google products on their platform such as YouTube and YouTube TV (which I'm subscribed to). I'm always weary of refurbished items but this one worked like new and its what I expected from Roku. Roku has no conflict with any company and has every single app so you don't have to use different devices to watch certain shows, sporting events, or movies. Roku keep doing what you're doing as this is my 3rd one I've owned and never been disappointed.
