This portable fish finder is amazing. I don't understand why there are so many complains in the review. It shows accurate fish location and water depth. You can switch the measurement by feet. Just press "Enter" button for 3-5 seconds until you can see the "M" changing to "FT".
You can't use it in swimming pool or water bucket, because the transducer doesn't work in a very small space. The sonar technology is based on sound waves. The transducer send a sound wave signal and determines distance by measuring the time between the transmission of the sound wave when the sound wave is reflected off an object. If the water space is very small, the time is too short to measure the data you concerned. I highly recommend you to try it outside in the lake or somewhere has enough space.
I use it on my kayak and it has been great. I like it so much because I can know where is a good fishing place. I caught a lot of fish and I am very pleased with this small item.
However, the handheld is not waterproof. I reflected the issue to the customer service. The customer service is very prompt and helpful. I am going to buy a waterproof bag later and you can buy it in this store as well.
I am very impressed with the function of the Lucky Portable fishfinder for the money. It mounted on my Hobie Outback and reads well and shows fish very accurate. Two things if you are planning to purchase this item it only reads in meters, for me no big deal just,a little calculating. And the bottom contour does not show , it has various icons that highlight, weeds on bottom rocks etc. I purchased the unit mainly for depth but was quit impressed with the readings of the fish.
I was skeptical because it does not cost a lot of money. However, I took it out in a canoe and it pointed out several fish. We drop lines and it was right. We started catching fish. I took it out later on a bass boat to see how it stacked up against the built in fish finder. My friend was watching the finder on his and saying he didn't see much. Mine, however, was showing a good many fish. He said we'd trust mine. The pressure was on for the little finder to prove itself! Within minutes of dropping lines in, we were catching crappie. We caught 17 before we ran out of bait. I would recommend it to anyone. It does take a minute or two to calibrate, once it is in the water, but when you're going to be out all night, a minute or two is not a deal breaker.
Used it to fish this past weekend from my kayak, helped me catch 6 fish where I thought I wouldn't get much action. I'd recommend it and give it 5 stars. Great product
40 bucks and it works, only drawback is battery life, it didn't last all day fishing. Bring extra batteries and you should be OK.

Description
Use the portable fish finder in normal ways
Fix the float position in advance. Toss the transducer into the water.
For kayak fishing
1. Attach the Side-Scan Adapter to the boat hull using the mounting tabs;
2. Break though the hull of a boat. Place the sonar sensor against the hull bottom 1 inch underwater.
For ice fishing
1. You should clear the snow on the ice layer. Make sure the surface is smooth enough. Put the boat depth finder directly on ice layer to detect fish distribution in purpose of selecting a place to drill a hole
2.There should be no air between the sensor and the ice and no air between ice layer and the underwater either. Otherwise, the portable depth finder will not work properly.
3. Cut a hole through the ice and put the transducer directly in the water. Enjoy the fishing gear.

Warm Tips
1. The fish lures and the fish smaller than 3.94inch can't be detected by the portable fish finder.
2. This model of portable depth finder doesn't distinguish big fish and small fish normally. However, it can show big fish and small fish by adjusting sensitivity to high level through sensitivity setting.
3. The transmitter (transducer) is waterproof design but the receiver (fish finders display) is not. Keep the fishfinders in dry condition after fishing to extend its product life.
The fish finder worked great .. l just wish it came with Rechargeable batteries.. other than that is is great
The portable fish finder is very easy to use and good quality. The fishing sonar can continue working for 4-5 hours with brand new batteries. The kayak fish finder also has the battery saving mode. If you turn on this mode, the portable fish finder will work more time than usual. The color LCD screen allow to see under sunshine. If you like night fishing, you can turn on the backlight, you can see clearly at night.
This is great! I actually just use it to know how deep the water is and it’s way to use and can change easily from meters to feet. I go on different boats with friend and sometimes jet skis and if you want to swim it’s nice to know how deep, especially if you’re like me and don’t want to touch a mucky bottom!
For the price this thing works excellent when fish passed under my boat I was actually able to find them and catch it works great for the bank as well just give it a toss and you're off Very accurate for such a small cheap device
