Honey-Can-Do TBL-02869 Portable Laptop Lap Desk with Handle, Black, 23 L x 16 W x 2.5 H

Honey-Can-Do TBL-02869 Portable Laptop Lap Desk with Handle, Black, 23 L x 16 W x 2.5 H

I chose white because I can pic the personal decal of my choice. Hopefully I will remember to upload a pic of when I put it on. This thing is BIG!!! In the first pic you can see that it reaches both arms of the lazyboy recliner, a big thing itself. That make the arm placement very comfy. The surface is smooth and easily cleaned. The handle is handy. The back is a bit unusual to me. It's attached by a rectangle of very tough velcro. The problem here is the materials used. First the pillow. I have absolutely no flippin reason to explain the stupidity of this materials use!!! You wanna know what it's made of. You know those cheap sorta cloth bags that come free with things you purchase, like some of the cloth grocery bags, like what the little square organizer folding boxes. If you pull hars, the material comes apart. Like a liner. I show a close up of it! I don't understand why it was not covered in real material??? I just hope it holds up. The one and only other issue I have with it is the material used to the table itself. It's very light weight pressed cardboard. Not hard and heavy like pressed wood. I have seen this used in other products to make them lighter in weight. But, I don't believe it's a good material for a lap desk. Where some people may use it to eat and drink at. Yes new the paint makes it smooth and easy to clean, but what will happen once it gets a scratch and moisture gets in?? It will swell and crumble. With suck a wonderful design, why the he&& use crap materials. Nomatter, I plan to sew a cover for the pillow. I will also use a couple coats of lacquer on the top once I apply my decal. I'll make it last because I adore the design that much. I won't let the materials use hamper that for me! ;)

Good size (larger than most).

Kids love to draw on it while sitting on couch or floor.

Mac Book Pro 15 fits very easily with room for mouse on the side if desired.

Surface is too reflective to allow for optical mouse to work (have to put down a mouse pad).

We bought two more.

I work full-time from home as a writer but unfortunately can't always sit at my desk due to back pain, fibromyalgia, and various other illnesses. I'm a disabled person, but not so disabled that I can't work, so I ordered this to try and make working from the couch a little more bearable (and to prevent wrist pain/further back pain from leaning forward when resting the computer on my legs). I'm not sure why I put it off so long!

This is a super simple, sturdy lap desk and it provides a nice smooth surface for my laptops without being heavy or unweildy. It slips pretty easily under my coffee table for storage when not in use and the handle makes it easy to move from that spot. It's wide without being unweildy and is a really nice size for both my 11" Chromebook and 13" Windows laptop (with extra space on the sides and back).

I didn't have any issues whatsoever with smell or heat. The only caveat is that this seems to be solid wood on the top and thus a LITTLE bit heavy (compared to the plastic and microbead lap desk I previously had), so if you have wrist pain or trouble lifting items (as I sometimes do), you may want to have somewhere to leave it out and only move it a little bit vs. lifting it up from the floor or inside a closet. But the sturdiness and extra space for a notepad, my water bottle, my wrists, etc. is worth it for me.

I'm not using this as a lap desk. What I really wanted was a corner piece for my desk, so I could have my keyboard closer to me. But I didn't want a keyboard tray; I still want my keyboard at desk level, not below. I just wanted something that would bridge the corner of my desk. Unfortunately everything that's actually made for that purpose is SUPER EXPENSIVE. So I thought I'd just get a lap desk instead and deal with it that way. (If I have to use a lowered keyboard, I at least wanted it in my lap.) But little did I know, I was able to use this lap desk as a corner piece for my desk!

First, the padding on the bottom comes off. It's held on with several strips of velcro. So I took off the padding, then ripped off the velcro, and pulled out the staples. Now it's perfectly flat on the bottom. I put it flat on my desk, with the handle (wider) side facing me, and the narrower side pointing towards my monitor. And this works GREAT! I can use the handle to move the tray around, when I want to adjust where my keyboard sits. I can pull it closer, move it away, rotate, etc. I can also move my keyboard to one side and fit my mouse on the board if I want to, too. I have a small tea towel at the bottom as padding for my wrists. The lap desk's shape and size means I can actually pull it quite far towards myself, and it's still very stable.

This is my second one. It nicks/chips. Just just arrived today, not had it more than 4 hours. Not sure if it had the nicks since I unpacked it. But I have not moved much or bumped into anything. Right now the chips are small hope they don't get bigger. I use it with my MSI GS60 Ghost 15", a Cool Master Laptop cooler, and room for my mouse. I don't believe my first one chipped like this, as easy. I am not at home, it would not fit in my suitcase or laptop bag for flight. :(

Stars are for the chips in the wood so soon.

I also use it now for coloring. Just ordered two more for birthday gifts. Don't understand the price differences with the different sellers. $17 to $31. I paid $13 for the black ones just the other day. Also Walmart does sell the black one different name and size for $10.

Description

You’re the creative type—the kind who always has a story on your mind, an art project baking on the backburner. That’s why this Portable Laptop Desk with Built-in Handle is your trusty sidekick both in and out of the studio. It’s chic and compact in terms of laptop ergonomics, while its lightweight design makes it more savvy than a triple word score. You can rely on solid MDF construction to keep the surface cool when you’re working through a hot idea. A perfect laptop table for your couch, your trip or your actual lap, it’s also a fine place to park your 13” typing device and launch the project of your dreams.

Fits my Heavy 17” Lenovo Thinkpad great with just enough room to the right for a standard side mouse AND still room on the top right of laptop for a drink, phone placement, pencil cup, etc.

Another had commented the msg wood was thin. Absolutely not. Perfect thickness without getting too heavy or bulky. There’s no “flex” at all in the top wood.

Things I don’t like: 1) I wish the padding underneath the board went all the way across like others. Men tend to sit more open legged then females and I could have used the extra width of padding. 2) as one reviewer mentioned the material used to enclose the padding is thin and cheap feeling so I hope it lasts? It is probably breathable however so this could also be a benefit. 3) I am not sure why they only have a small rectangular strip of Velcro holding the pad on but I am thinking it’s becuase the padding material is thin so too much Velcro means the padding material may give way before the Velcro. There is a large rectangular “material enclosure” tag on the underside of the pad that I added a few Velcro squares to do that should be fine. It just kinda bugged me when lifting the desk, the top part of the pad would separate a tad all the way down to where the Velcro started. More aesthetic looking now when but it bugged me enough to add Velcro squares.

Summary: great unit for the price! I ordered the white color becuase at the time it was $6-$8 cheaper than the other colors. Now a day later it is the same but the Mint blue is cheaper!...lol Perhaps Amazon does this for inventory reduction temporarily on certain colors but I have become accustomed to looking at all colors and or options because this allows me to save money many times.

I purchased two of these; I use one at home when reading/studying on my bed or when eating on my couch. The 2nd one I use in my car (without the removable cushion) when I eat or read while waiting for my train (I park & ride and sometimes I arrived 15-30 minutes early) I tuck the tray away between my sit and console when not in use and it fits perfectly. Very useful for me.

I love this laptop table. It's large but light. I had one for years and it finally started to look shabby with scratches and the paint started rubbing off. I looked for a another one but couldn't find it anywhere, so went through about 3 different kinds that just weren't as good. Was so happy to see it on amazon, had to immediately order it! The pad on the bottom isn't as large as the table, which is both good and bad! It lets me hang the edge on the sofa arm and it isn't thick, so it's comfortable and stable. But it's not as comfortable on your legs as one that is the size of the table, but it doesn't let your legs get hot from the computer like so many others seem to. The fabric isn't that bad as some have said, it's durable. I would give it 5 stars as it's almost perfect, but the pad on the bottom could be a little bit bigger....

I love this "Laptop" Lap Desk, & though I didn't buy it for my laptop, I use it for this now. I wanted a sturdy, well made lap desk to work on my art work: drawing, and sketches, as well as inks & I use it for this too! This is unbelievably h-i-g-h quality for the price!

The pad underneath is the best ever before now, perfectly angled for what I need to do, and is made of comfortable foam that isn't going to wear down with use and time.

I've bought products like this in the past that, despite their description, were not smooth on the top. And the pad underneath was like a bunch of tiny bb's rolling around - not at all comfortable.

For my needs, this gets an A+++

I am short and as a short person, my lap is very small. Not only is it small, but it's slanted because my feet don't reach the floor from the seat of an average chair/sofa unless I sit at the edge. This makes using a laptop on my actual lap nearly impossible or, at the very least, uncomfortable and inconvenient. I bought this lap desk last week because of the size and the cushion. The price was lowest on the pink one (and lower still, this week - bummer) so that's the color I chose. After it arrived and I unpacked it, I sat down, placed my 16-inch laptop on the desk and pulled them both onto my mini-lap. Amazingly, it stayed sturdily in place and I comfortably did all my online chores. There is enough room to place a mouse with a small mouse pad or my cell phone next to the laptop, as well. Best of all, when I dozed off (as I frequently do after a long day) and my legs relaxed, it still didn't slide off! Very happy with this purchase so far.
