My review is actually for the Gerber Soothe Colic Drops (minus the Vitamin D). I purchased those drops at a different retailer; however, I wanted to leave feedback for the drops here at Amazon. My DD since at about 1 month of age had gas/bloating/constipation issues. She is primarily formula-fed with organic, sensitive formula and has been since about two weeks of age. She does receive some breastmilk, but her primary diet is formula. The formula I use does not contain probiotics; but does contain prebiotics. When I told my pediatrician about our issues, she provided me with a sample size of the Gerber Soothe Probiotic Drops. (no Vitamin D.) The sample only lasted about five days. I saw improvement, but nothing amazing. I wanted to continue with the probiotics, but because I felt there was no significant improvement; I switched and bought Culturelle Baby drops. We used those until they ran out. Meh is my response about Culturelle Baby drops.
After I ran out of the Culturelle Baby drops, I noticed that my DD was back to being gassy/fussy/constipated and just miserable. Instead of buying more of the Culturelle Baby drops, I bought the Gerber Soothe Probiotic Drops, hoping there would be more of an improvement. After a few days, I noticed that my DD's constipation seemed to be getting slightly better and she had fewer episodes of burping when feeding. After about a week to 10 days, there was marked improvement in her fussiness, gassiness, and bowel habits. I am still on the original bottle (says it is about 50 doses) and probably about a month into using the Gerber Soothe drops and for the past 10 -14 days, my baby has been super happy, chill, not really fussy during the "witching hour," she has more of a bowel routine now, zero bloat, burping is far less in quantity. She still has a lot of hiccuping throughout the day. These drops have been a huge help to making my DD feel better every day and allow her to be a happy baby without added (some is normal) GI discomfort.
Now, I have read complaints about the dispensing process and about the paper inside the bottle. Here are my observations/tips:
1. Keep the bottle stored upright. If it tips over, stand it back upright as soon as you notice it has tipped over. One morning, I noticed that I could not get any drops out and was bummed. I just tapped the side of the bottle, hoping to release any bubbles that might be preventing the liquid from falling back into the bottle and after 10 minutes or so, the liquid that was trapped in the dispensing area had fallen back into the bottle and I was able to dispense the drops with no further issues. I now make sure I keep the bottle upright at all times.
2. I do not shake the bottle, instead, I swirl it - to avoid the liquid getting stuck in the dispenser.
3. The strip of paper inside the bottle is supposed to be there, per the manufacturer.
4. Read and follow the dispensing instructions. Tilt the bottle at about 45 degrees and the drops form and then drop, one at a time. I have never had any issue with the liquid dispensing too quickly.
I hope my comments help you to make a decision. I have found with my DD (my first baby), there is a lot of trial and error, when it comes to feeding and gut health.Oy! I do know that these drops have made a significant improvement for my DD and that they in fact, work better than the other competitor that I mentioned above.
My newborn had reflux (not so bad to require medication, but frustrating enough to cause me stress) and gas, and this probiotic was recommended by Taking Cara Babies (sleep consultant and nurse) so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it. I chose the one with vitamin D on recommendation from pediatrician. It's hard to say whether it is the probiotic that has brought relief or if was getting more sleep, learning to nurse better, or just time. But baby hasn't had any negative effects and continues to only spit up a few times a day rather than 1-3 times every feeding. I ordered in winter and it was not packed in ice, but I googled that that is just fine for this item so I didn't stress it. According to reviews, it looks like they pack in ice during hot season but not during cool season. I recommend this item.
Our third baby was so fussy and colicky from weeks 3-5. I was at my wits end and unsure of how I was going to survive until she outgrew the pain she was in. It was awful. My doctor recommended these drops and sent me home with a sample size and oh my word!!! Game changer. She still has reflux and spits up but not nearly as bad and she is able to pass her gas and stool so much easier. She has relaxed so much and we are not dealing with a constantly screaming baby. I’m so glad we found these drops. Our sweet girl is comfortable and mommy has more sanity!
Love that baby can get their vitamin d along with probiotics to help with sensitive tummies but it is annoying that each dosage is 5 drops. Once you get through half of the bottle, it is so hard to get the drops out and baby starts to fuss. Wish there was an easier way to administer the drops.
I’ve been using this for my breastfed child since he was a week or two old. I like that it’s a combo vitamin d and probiotic. The Gerber Soothe brand is what I’m familiar with giving to patients as a nurse so I felt comfortable with it. My child hasn’t had any issues with gas, discomfort, or sleeping poorly, but I’m not sure the probiotic had anything to do with that. It was easy to administer until I got to the end of the bottle then it became hard to get the last bit out.

Description
Colic is quite common among infants and all infants occasionally experience digestive issues. Colic may be related to not having enough good bacteria in the digestive system. Gerber Soothe Probiotic Colic drops with Vitamin D may help support a healthy balance of good bacteria in baby’s digestive system, which can ease colic, excessive crying and fussiness, while helping to promote healthy bone development. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Arrived wrapped in temperature control material with a cold pack which was greatly appreciated since it needs to be stored at a cool temperature (heat can inactivate the active ingredients). Fast delivery too. Very satisfied.
My grandson's tummy always looked swollen and he wasn't happy. His pediatrician recommended that we get these drops (and promised no other brand would work as well). They have worked! We give it to him every night and his tummy is much more content.
4 star for being so pricey. Hospital and our Pediatrician recommended this drop, mom was Vitamin D deficient so they doubted breastmilk will have enough for baby. Make sure you only tilt bottle 45 degrees to slowly form the 5 small drops, if you tilt the bottle completely upside down you will get bigger drops which means your giving your baby more than 400iu. I put it directly in the formula bottle but my little one never drinks her milk entirely so I doubt she was getting the full 400iu, some of it still had to be in the wasted milk so I started putting the drops with 1/4 of her feeding and fed her that bit first and then added the rest of the milk to the bottle.
This made a world of difference for my second child. Switching his formula to one with rice starch made me nervous because it caused constipation/gas issues with my first child. To the point that it took months to get him on a regimen. And it involved removing rice completely for awhile. This made a difference. It has eliminated constipation, diminshed colicky episodes and allowed us to adddress spit up issues with a rice starch product. I have a healthy child.
We absolutely love this stuff. We tried the Gerber Probiotic by itself and loved the product, so when we found this combination we had to try it. Our pediatrician recommended we give Vitamin D to our little one for a year. We have been very happy with this product and continue to buy it again and again. The only complaint I have is the price can vary from seller to seller but I guess that's with anything.
