It is exactly as described. Light weight and small. Fits neatly in one hand. Works great as I sat watching TV while scanning 35mm negatives. The limited instructions are a little confusing at first. With only 5 buttons it doesn't take long to figure things out. Start with the power. After turning it on, you can change the scan from 14mp to 22 mp. You have options to watch play back. Select the Camera icon by pressing the "OK" button. This enters the Capture mode. Once there you load the film into the proper plastic protector. After several attempts fighting with the cover door to the negative adapter, I decided to forgo taking it in and out of the scanner. Instead I pushed each film strip in from the left and moved through the negatives with ease. From the 32 GB memory card, the color view panel shows that I have room for 10,000 pics. The negative was bigger than the scan view but not by much. If printing out 4 x 6 in photos, you may lose 1/4 in on the left or right side depending on how you slide the negative to scan. Once you have it lined up, press the SCAN button. From there you can enter the edit mode to fix colors or contrast. I chose to leave this to photo editing software instead. If you're happy with the scan, press OK, as the highlighted icon on the screen is asking to SAVE the image. Saving takes approximately 4 seconds while a little yellow hour glass appears over the image. The top right corner counter marks the number of saved scans and the remaining quantity. Everything is on the SD card and you can leave it there or move it to a computer. Simple. I have intentions of scanning hundreds of thousands of negatives. I have no idea how long this lightweight plastic will hold out. I also plan to give the little lamp a break to cool down as well.
I purchased this and a Christmas gift and my brother was ecstatic! It was amazing to see how clear and concise the photos looked though they were taken nearly 10 years ago when technology was not anywhere near as advanced. Would definitely recommend purchasing this!
I've been putting off this project for so long now mostly because of the costs associated with it, I thought I would have to take my negatives somewhere to have them converted, so glad to have found this on amazon and I can just do it myself and have everything digital, great little gadget to have.
Update. I have now scanned almost 200 slides and I am revising my review. It is still not as good as the bed scanner with slide attachment, but it is VERY good. It is faster than the slide scanner and very portable (you can even use a laptop computer to power it). I am still giving it 4 stars, but I wanted to give an update.
This is my 3rd device to scan slides. I tried a similar device that had an auto feed which worked awful and I had to return, next I tried a photo bed scanner that had a slide adapter and software that worked great, but I had to give it back to the person I borrowed it from. This device was smaller than the first device I tried and can only do one slide at a time. So far it is working good (but not as good as the scanner) The slide adapter that came with this device works very well to place the slide in the viewer and it does a good job to scan the slide. The only issue is that I have a LOT of slides that I need to convert and it will take a lot of time to scan each slide one at a time. This is a solid little device and so far so good.
Bought this for my husband. He likes it enough and it does what he needs it to but he said the directions are poorly written.

Great product. Fast, good quality scans straight from negatives. Feeder is a bit clumsy but workable. Definitely recommended.
Seems to work OK. A couple of times, it kept hunting for proper exposure. Instructions seem to have been written by someone who is failing ESL. (English as a Second Language) On screen icons aren't all that great or intuitive. My biggest complaint is that many of my negatives are on "Advantix" film and they feed through the 135 film guide with a lot of slop.

I love this thing. It was like magic.
Item is a little smaller than I expected. However, it is easy to use and works great. For the money, it was a good purchase and shipping was very fast.
