ZOSI 8CH Security Camera System HD-TVI Full 1080P Video DVR Recorder with 4X HD 1920TVL 1080P Indoor Outdoor Weatherproof CCTV Cameras 1TB Hard Drive,Motion Alert, Smartphone, PC Easy Remote Access

After much research for cameras for our house, I narrowed down my choice to this Zosi model for two primary reasons: the cost, and the many other overwhelmingly positive reviews. I had considered the wireless type of cameras available nowadays, but there were just too many reviews that mentioned lots of problems getting, and staying, connected, so I elected to go with the hard-wired video and power type. My thinking was that if the home wireless network goes down, or any camera's connection is unstable, then a wireless camera is useless. I purchased four of these cameras, so far, in April and May of 2017. I've installed three of them outside and they have performed flawlessly, rain or shine, since installation. I used the gray 3/4-inch PVC conduit and weatherproof gray PVC 4-inch round light boxes camera mounting. I drilled a 1/2-inch hole in the center of the box's cover for the cable to go into the box. I used flat head stainless steel machine screws to attach them to the covers, with silicone sealant applied to the screw holes for weatherproofing, and the same sealant around the bracket's edge for weatherproofing the bracket. It was a nice, clean, installation, with plenty of room inside those 4-inch boxes to roll up the connections. The picture included shows two of the three cameras in place. One of the four cameras I purchased has remained inside our house and is in use in our basement until it's permanent spot is ready for mounting. The camera's night vision range is excellent, but it's even better when there are reflective surfaces (sheds, lattice, etc) for the infrared to bounce off of. The video (both day and night) is very clean and crisp, and the best part is these don't cost 5 to 8 time more like the other cameras I looked at initially!! I have a UPS power backup for the system in the event power drops out. The cameras are being recorded 24/7. To add to all this, I recently installed an additional "entertainment system" consisting of 4-agile TV modulators (professional style) I purchased on that well known auction site (starts with an E) for very little $$$s each, fed by the camera's video, with their RF outputs combined to allow a single coax with 4-TV channels to connect to our 65-inch Smart TV's "TV" antenna input in our Master Bedroom. This gives us very LARGE pictures to look at of our property, and watch the Raccoons come and go, too, when there's nothing worthwhile to watch on cable TV. I did have one issue that came up with one of the four cameras within the last week. It's front "lens" (or glass) has fogged-up on the inside, for some reason, so I contacted Zosi Customer Service direct since I was beyond Amazon's return time frame. Zosi's handling of the issue has been absolutely fast and fantastic - best customer service I've received from ANY vendor in a long time. Special thanks goes out to "Anran" of Zosi Customer Service for the speedy resolution!! IMHO, these cameras are worth every dollar spent, and Zosi's Customer Support is superb!! What more could you ask for!!

You can't buy a better camera for $20. I replaced one of my zmodo kit cameras with this, and it puts the rest of them to shame.

Something to note: the viewing angle is significantly wider than my original cameras, if you're looking for a zoom camera this is not it. See the picture below, the 2 cameras are mounted in the exact same location.

Better than expected! Received it on 5-17-17 hooked it up and the clarity is more than I need. Also love the night vision , also very clear. Was Leary because of the price point but after reading a majority of the feed back I purchased it. Glad I did!

About five years ago, I purchased a Q-See DVR and camera system. There had been a few break-ins nearby and I wanted something to supplement my security system. The cameras that came with the system proved inadequate due to low resolution and a narrow field of view. They also wore out rather quickly, giving me green skies and purple grass - not exactly what the police would need to get a conviction should a recording ever have to be admitted to court as evidence. I searched long and hard and upgraded to a set of VideoSecu cameras. At 400 TVL indicated, they were amazing, with a wider field of view and much higher resolution. The price was good too at $29 or so per unit. These proved adequate until a couple of weeks ago, when the break-ins moved onto my street.

If the VideoSecu cameras have a shortcoming, and it can't be much of one at that price point considering how well they work and their durability, it's their night resolution. While checking my cameras after a break-in down the street, I found that the subject had been in my yard too, but that the noise in night mode made identification of a subject impossible. The police were happy to have the videos - they proved that the subject had been going up the street trying car doors - but they didn't allow the police to solve the incident. I decided there and then that an upgrade would be necessary, so I tried this camera.

While this camera is not as much an improvement over the VideoSecu as the VideoSecu was over the Q-See, it offers a very noticeable improvement in night vision and an arguable improvement overall. Make no doubt, this camera is big for a bullet camera and it's heavy, but I think the price (lower than the VideoSecu by $5) and the increased night performance serve to highly recommend this camera. In a side-by-side test (I have two cameras that cover the same area from different angles), the ZOSI was much more clear in all light conditions and was pretty much without noise in streetlight-only illumination, where the VideoSecu covering the same area was subject to a great deal of noise. Under Christmas lights, when the VideoSecu was still black-and-white and noisy, the ZOSI offered a bit of color and a noise-free image. The field-of-view seems a tad bigger than the VideoSecu as well.

Overall, this is a good camera and at this price point, is a truly stunning deal. I've purchased a four pack to upgrade my system. I'm really sure that I can't afford not to.

I recently got this set-up after attempting a cheaper IP wireless camera. For my needs, the IP camera was a wash and difficult to set up and use. I decided to bite the bullet and spend a little more for this system. I do not regret it one bit! The set up is relatively easy, although wires are almost always a pain. After testing the system, I installed 3 of the 4 cameras. The included cables are more than generous in length. Although the cameras are waterproof, the connections are not, so for the one camera that isn't under the roof line, I did have to get some marine quality heat shrink wrap and a heat gun. All in all, once installed, the system is a breeze to set up. As it has a built in hard drive, it's so much easier than getting a cheaper system that requires an additional hard drive. I like that I can see, playback, and even record segments from my phone. In addition, the included DVR is easy to use and maneuver through. This is the 1st security system I ever installed, and I now feel like an expert after doing this myself. I would absolutely recommend this system, and I've actually already convinced a few neighbors to get the same system. I have a feeling I will be helping a few neighbors with their installations, now.

I have bought this same set of cameras 3 times. The first two were purchased for a business over a year ago and all cameras are still in great working condition. I have a set of four inside the business and other 4 set outside. I have been so happy with these cameras, I decided to buy another set for the house. This time only 3 cameras of the 4 were in working conditions. It had only been installed for 60 days when another camera had stopped working all together. I was highly upset and disappointed at quality of this set of cameras. However, once customer service was involved, they were extremely helpful and sent two replacement cameras. They have been installed for a week. So far so good. I know if any issue arises, customer service will be able to help. I am a satisfied ongoing customer and planning on buying another set for my parents house. I love that I can view all locations from one device.

UPDATE: APP WORKS!!!
The cameras and system are of high quality. The DVR and cameras work great. BUT, the ZOSI Smart App does NOT WORK! As soon as you install the app, add the system to the app - CRASH goes the system immediately, and it reboots itself within 1 to 2 minutes. Once the DVR restarts, if the app is still open, again it will happen. If you close the app, it works great until you open the app - down it goes. I tried emailing the Zosi people, and used the help of an Amazon Tech guy who had me try using the 365secu app which did not recognize the device, and uninstall and reinstall the ZOSI smart app which the same thing just happened again. Back to Amazon it goes - going to get the Night Owl system which is nearly identical to this one, but the app works great. (My husbands parents have one and my husband installed it for them a few months back - still working great with no problems).

**update** So the company did reply with a detailed fix, with links and step by step instructions. It took a minute to get through everything, but it all works great now! The fix was an update that i had to put on a thumb drive, then restart the DVR to upload it. The customer service was actually really good overall. There was a delay in communication, but the replies were usually waiting for me when i woke up the next day. I'm changing my review from 3 to 5 stars. If anything changes in quality or usage, i will post another updated review.

(original post)
As of right now, I can see the feed from my cameras (and it looks great), but only on my TV. I was really excited to get these installed, but now its been more of a headache. I opened everything up to test it, but i didn't have a cable to check on the tv yet, so i downloaded the view app. Everything looked good, so i went ahead and installed them onto the house. I continuously checked the cameras on my phone while i was making final adjustments to angles and whatnot, but when i went to actually hook it up for bigger display on my tv, everything stopped working on my phone/ipad. Now it won't connect, saying 'username/password invalid' I hadn't changed anything from the first day, and now i can't make any adjustments or even hit record on the HD. The ONLY thing that it does now is show the feed on my TV, and thats live - not recorded.

I emailed the company that night, and they did respond very fast, asking for detailed pics to help resolve the issue. I sent them pictures of what i saw on the tv and the app. I probably sent them too many, but i wanted them to see what i saw. That was yesterday morning, and I haven't heard anything yet. I went online, and saw that actually lots of people were having that same issue, and there are about a million 'fixes', but nothing has worked yet.

I will update my review with 5 stars if the company responds with a fix, or even if i just find one that works online.

I have a 9 camera CCTV system on my home and the cameras are pretty old. Six of the 9 are completely useless in the dark. I took a chance and ordered 6 of these, the price is amazing and reviews seemed OK. Well I installed one yesterday to test, I am amazed at the quality of the image both in daytime and night. I replaced one of my bad cameras with a big name unit that cost $300 per camera, these $17 cameras are not quite as good in picture quality, but considering the cost they are fantastic. I installed only one to test so in case I had to return them I would only have to repackage one. But I will be installing the other 5 today. Incredible bang for the buck! And the icing on the cake was that the power and video plug on the camera are the same as the system in my home so swapping out the cameras is as easy as three screws and plug and play. No wire splicing.

I love this new system!

I was on the hunt for a security camera system. After doing some research I decided I didn’t want to use a cloud based service that would cost me a monthly operating fee. I then looked at the big box stores, but I elected to try the ZOSI DVR wired camera system. Best value and cost by far.

I installed the system without any problems. One could just hook it up and it automatically starts recording, or you can use many other useful features. My mom probably could have just plugged it in to record without any reading... if you want other features, some degree of technical abilities is needed.

Points to know:
1. I created a gmail account just for this and set security on my gmail to low so that the ZOSI dvr was able to use the outgoing mail server without any issues. I could then make settings on the DVR to email me alerts when motion is detected.
2. I didn’t use a PC to program, but rather the included mouse. It’s easy. One can then look at a frame and select where in the frame to look for motion and set the sensitivity. This is useful if a frame has trees blowing and cars going by, but you only want an alert if a gate opens.
3. I downloaded the ZOSI app for my iPhone and I initially couldn’t get it to work. I emailed their tech support and they were fast and helpful. The manual is not well written and the tech support by email required me to think a bit differently. I sent screen shots and they texted back, “Please use zosi smart app on your phone, your DVR's network is okay, And the e-mail issue, the smtp server is smtp.gmail.com please refer to the below link” I was initially thinking... “don’t they see I did use the ZOSI app? But then I thought to look and there is more than one app... and there is one called, “ZOSI smart” I had ZOSI view. So get the right one! And I quickly said to myself... that’s how I set up the email... but I wrote “google” and not “gmail”. It was easy once I corrected my mistakes. Thank you ZOSI support.
4. Lots of options for cameras and DVRs. I have a guest house and a front house. Small city lot, but still further than the 65’ of run for the camera cable. I ended up buying 2 different ZOSI systems. Both are great. The cost is great. The app registers the devices and I can monitor from my iPhone.
5. In trying to solve some email issues before contacting their support, I read some posts on setting up port forwarding on your router. Don’t worry... it wasn’t needed. This isn’t as complicated as I was thinking!

So in the end, I was able to install 2 systems with 6 cameras and my property is covered! All for much cheaper than a monthly fee based service.
