Of the two options available I have the more expensive "HD" version. Installed on a Chevy Silverado truck, this camera far exceeded my expectations for video quality. While composite video is not capable of true HD transmission, this cameras resolution is crisp, clear, not over processed and extremely good at nailing exposure. The field of view is much more realistic and judging distances is outstanding. In pitch dark conditions, the vehicles reverse lights are more than enough illumination to make the image 100 percent usable although no camera will be as good as during the day. I have zero complaints and couldn't be more pleased. Between my 20ft trailer and various vehicles, I have at least 7 cameras and this is by far the best. Some of the others were over 100 dollars!

My wife got a new car a few years ago and I grew to really appreciate the backup camera on it. My truck is a older crew cab with a canopy so the rearview mirror is a bit on the worthless side. When I saw this camera on Amazon, I decided it was worth a risk at the price. The camera arrived quickly, and included the wiring harness (plenty long enough for a crew cab long box, the harness was about 30' long). I contacted the seller about the free monitor offer and promptly received a quick reply, stating they would be happy to send the monitor, and did the camera work well? When I told them I wouldn't be able to test the camera with no monitor, they sent me the free monitor promptly, asking only that I write a review when I had it up and working.
It took a few hours to install the system. A hardwire camera is more work to install, but with as long a vehicle as I have, wireless didn't seem to be a good option. The instructions included with the unit are not ideal, but are plenty for someone with a little experience in wiring to decipher. I mounted the camera on the rear bumper over the license plate (check the photo, the provided bracket actually sits behind the license plate and mounts using the same screws that hold the plate on), ran the wire forward and taped the power at the reverse light lead of my trailer wiring. In the cab, I found a ground and wired up the other end of the harness to the monitor in a temporary location. I will likely end up moving it before I am done, but wanted to test it out. I started the truck and shifted into reverse. The monitor popped on and I had a clear view out the back! Just that easy!
I am pleased with the clarity of the picture, I imagine that if I get a new in dash touch screen stereo, and wire the camera to that the picture will only get better, but the picture quality on the free monitor is great as it stands. All in all, WELL worth the money spent! The seller has great customer service, and was very responsive to my emails. Thanks much!

Well worth the extra time to hard wire; better performance than a wireless.

Image is sharp. Colors are great. Cable was plenty long. (About a foot to spare). Depth lines are a little off. In my case blue lines mean keep going, the green lines are the close enough lines. Yellow lines are caution and the red lines, too late you hit it already.

No lies, I literally just went through 3 different cameras and this would be my 4th within 60 days or less. Just trying to find the perfect backup camera and they've all been purchased from Amazon. And so I just received this one today prompt shipping and got right to hooking it up(which was super basic) and it is by far the best top of the line camera over all the ones I've had, this is most definitely a keeper and the one I will be using. Also great customer service over all five stars no doubt about it!

The camera was extremely easy to install with detailed instructions included. I especially like the option to keep camera on while driving forward. With its super wide angle view, it is nice to be able to see others' cars to my left or right even if a car is parallel to mine. A major Safety Plus especially when changing lanes on freeways or any other street. Thank you.

The S2 packaging arrived in good shape. The camera connection to the long wire loom is small enough that I can easily use shrink tubing for a secure and water tight connection. I believe the connection would be water tight without shrink tubing but I like the extra security. The connectors are rather small so you will need to take care that you align the arrows on each end to avoid damaging the wires inside the male end. I used an older analog television to capture the camera's output so the quality of the backup camera's view doesn't adequately depict the quality of the actual display. the camera has a fairly wide field of view as you can tell. I tried to stay out of the picture but wasn't quite able to do so. The 4th picture I uploaded was of the TV and the backup camera powered on. The 5th picture I uploaded was taken at night with dining room light (around 75 watt equivalent CFC bulb) on. The 6th picture I uploaded was in total darkness in a room that is about 15 feet deep. All picture were taken inside. I didn't take any outside pictures.

As a backup camera it seems to do a pretty good job. The picture is very clear. Remember backup cameras are designed to give you a wide field of view so you can avoid hitting other objects and the S2 does just that. I have a topper on my full size truck and so it is hard to see behind the truck and difficult to judge distances of close up objects. I'm looking forward to getting this thing installed.

After installation of the Xroose S2 camera i was double pleased of the sharp picture with the vivid colors . I use the camera for saftey back up reasons, but my main use is for hooking up my boat trailer oh man it saves a lot of getting out the truck more than once to see how far or what direction you need to be to hook up. i placed the camera directly in front of the trailer hitch under my bumper. I have plenty of view for backing up when not using trailer hitch. My suggestion is if using the grid distance lines place objects on the ground so you can have an idea of how close you are once the three different colors are reached. installation I would rate the same for any product when you have run cables, the ease of it is different for everyone. I took my time to run the cable to shield it from the elements and give it a professional apperrance .time spent 1hr and 45 minutes. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it.

I installed this on my 2006 F250 short bed, supercab. The picture is clear and it appears the LEDs and existing backup lights provide plenty of light at night.

The RCA cable that made the run from the back of the truck to the head unit was of adequate length. They were also kind enough to include, built into that RCA cable, a wire to connect the backup light to the head unit.

While the Cable had plenty of length for my truck, and I had excess length, I'm not sure there would have been enough length if my truck was a long bed supercrew rather than a short bed, supercab.

I'm not sure if I will keep the guide lines, they are a little bright for my taste. We'll see.

It was easy to install and wire. Take your time. Great product and video quality is pretty darn good! Thank you
