Worth the buy for a new laptop. laptop comes with built in dvd tray and 12 gb of RAM which is perfect and for the right price (better than buying at Dell website)! windows 10 needs at least 4 GB of RAM to operate otherwise it will be VERY slow. So, 12 GB of RAM allows room for growth over the years and matches the OS. Only thing to improve was the app store program which was finicky and does not install the apps. In addition, I wish the battery was more accessible if you had to replace it after 3-4 years, and had a VGA slot for those who still have an old monitor.
I don't get it. The bigger the computer, the bigger the hard drive, the more the RAM, the more stuff they find to cram in. Don't get me wrong - Amazon's great, Dell's great, this computer is great, but it took me 3 days to update it to today's version and delete all the crapware (Candy Crush, et al).
I can't wait to try Linux/Ubuntu on it.
Love this laptop. Had Dell before and this is faster and better than the last one. Lighted keyboard is a plus on this model
Greatest purchase ever! Super fast computer and perfect for college work! Definitely worth the money!
Good Item, its my 3rd Dell and I enjoy it, the only maybe complain is that is a little heavy, but its ok considering the quality of the product.

I've bought in the past laptops by.....
HP (hap to send back to HP for repairs and it wasn't any better).
Sony (Problems may have been with Windows 8). But very slow.
Asus.....The worst. This was an upper-range laptop. I got tired of trying to fix it. Easily the most expensive laptop I ever bought. It came with a solid state drive and still took over 10 minutes to boot. Tired restoring to default. Didn't perform any better. Not using anymore. Will gut for parts.
ACER Not bad. Bought last year. Another mid-range Laptop. Has been pretty reliable since purchased last year.
Now I'm not using the laptops for anything other than surfing the net and an occasional movie. So there isn't anything demanding being performed on these machines.
This Dell is
1) Pretty fast on startup with an SSD installed. Way faster than the upper end ASUS
The display isn't the best. A little dark. But for what I'm using it foe it suffices.
2) I've tried several over the years and have nothing but problems out of the box.
3) Easy setup out of the box.
4) Decent battery life.
What I don't like about this Laptop and most other newer ones is trying to upgrade RAM or the Hard drive. Can't the manufacturers have a little panel on the bottom for easy access? Instead you got to take out a lot of little screws on the bottom (and possibly a few more inside) and remove the whole bottom cover of the laptop. Does it cost that much more to have access panels for the RAM and Hard Drive? Everyone seems to do it on the newer models. Is it so that people purchase the laptop with every option they envision on upgrading too? It's one of my pet Peeves.
All-in-all a pretty good mid-range laptop. If your looking for something with a little more "kick" you may have to go with a different model. Just put some access panels in the thing!
I like everything about this laptop. I did not rate the sound quality only because I don’t usually have the sound turned on.
Quality product. Great price. Definitely recommend this laptop.
I have just starting using this PC, so far I love it. If you don't want the security (anti virus) that comes preinstalled be careful to follow recommended uninstall protocols or PC may freeze. I had firewall issues but got them solved by following instructions from windows and Mcafee. Also make sure when ordering PC it has all features you want- I thought this one had type C usb but it does NOT. IT does have Everything else though!! Will try to do a follow up when used it a few months.....
Seems PC's are getting a lot like vehicles anymore. You're given a base price, but in order just to have a reasonably performent model, you have to double its price with options. If you're looking for gaming or a true business machine capable of lightning speed and/or able to display more apps than most humans can keep track of, this probably isn't for you. But if you're simply looking for a truly base-lined model for home or a home business, this PC comes configured for just what you need without spending hours weighing options and sorting through reviews.
needed the lighted keyboard
