This adapter fits the Xbox controller perfect, the volume controls work great, the mute button is the handiest feature, 1 word of advice, when you fit the adapter to the controller LEAVE IT ! , Continuing to pull them apart and putting them back together wares the prongs down and will create connection issues, loss of chat capability, just slowly separate the mic cord from the adapter and that's all, should have a long time to enjoy your gaming
I ordered this product because the 3.5mm headphone adapter stopped working on my controller, literally went thru 4 controllers. I troubleshoot with Microsoft and couldn’t figure out the problem and recommended trying this. And it has worked perfectly. Even the controllers where the 3.5mm port stopped working worked with this adapter. It is still early but right now am happy it fixed my problem with the remote.
PREFACE:
I bought this adapter for my HyperX Cloud II gaming headset. I originally bought the Cloud IIs without doing my proper research, only to find out the full 7.1 surround sound setup with volume controls is not compatible with Xbox one (ONLY buy the cloud IIs for PC or PS4 if you want full 7.1). Because of that, there is the usb plug-in cord with volume and mute controls you cannot use (you can only use the direct aux cord plug-in that goes into the controller). The headset was so comfy and well made and didn't want to return it, even with the inability to get full 7.1 surround sound or have the volume controls, so I bought this adapter to solve my problems.
ACTUAL REVIEW:
It works amazing! It is exactly what I needed. The buttons are clear. You can adjust the slider between game volume and chat volume easily. You can adjust the volume easily. You can mute and un-mute easily, and there is even an indicator light to show when you're muted.
The adapter seems very durable. I've seen comments about being an Chinese knockoff or that constant removal could ruin the prongs in the connection. I don't see this becoming an issue unless you drop your controller a bunch. It fits really snug. I've only been using it for a couple days, but I couldn't be more pleased. If this thing does crap out on me, or gives me issues, I'll be sure to circle back and update this review. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate buying this adapter.

The product plugged in and works as expected. You can control the volume from the adapter which is great. Makes playing games at night a lot more fun since I can now has the sound on. I'd recommend this product. The only downside is I can't use my controller charger with this adapter connected so I have to remove it to recharge my controller.
Ok this is for my gamers...so the microsoft adapter is too expensive so I bought this one. This headset adapter is a great alternative for Microsoft and it works perfectly for anybody who don't have a usb headset. It's very easy to use, just plug and go. To be honest, this adapter actually works better than those Xbox controllers that don't need an adapter.
Hopefully this helps someone with the “Mute button of death,” or so I call it. I have owned my Xbox for over seven months and one day I noticed my headsets were not working. I tried EVERYTHING: soft resets, changing settings, and eventually calling Xbox support.
They did not give me a definite answer at first, but eventually they told me to purchase a product similar to this. So, I decided on this one and I can use my headsets again!
Now, to give a review on the product itself.
Quality: The buttons feel as if they will last quite a long time, but I will do my best to update my review when a few months go by. The only issue I noticed is the adapter gets in the way when you are playing (at first), but eventually you will get used to playing around it and it becomes second nature.
Control: I enjoy adjusting the volume of my headsets with the flick of a thumb. I’m not a fan of adjusting the volume by scratching around near my ear.
Conclusion: If you have an issue with your headphones not working due to the “mute button of death,” or you just want to make your gaming experience a little easier, this is a great product.
Works great, fits perfectly, doesn't get in the way (I'm an adult male), nice to be able to adjust the volume from the adapter and quickly mute/unmute (has a light for the slash to indicate it's muted). Just note that the headset audio setting will not appear in the menu as it did when you plugged earbuds directly into the headphone jack.
For months I couldn't figure out how to connect a wireless Xbox One remote to a wired headset (with mic) and have the whole thing work properly. I could usually hear sound, but the mic wouldn't work. Searched all over the interwebs (including on Microsoft's own help center) for a solution until I came upon this adapter--and everything just works now. No idea why it's so hard to find a solution for what seems like a common issue with wireless controllers. Worth every penny!
