Not sure why they said it changed to a newer model. I recieved a box with a label that has the new model #ST1000LXZ15 and underneath it says inside it is ST1000LX015. Harddrive works fine.
I installed the firecuda in my ps4pro, it was easy and perfect for making my ps4pro super fast now!!! With it being a hybrid SSHD!!!it's an amazing upgrade. And by super fast, I MEAN very very fast!!!! Thank you so so much!!! VERY MUCH WORTH my money!!! I have 2. One internally and the other externally. My ps4pro is basically a ps4.5!!! This will definitely hold me over until playstation 5 releases
15 year old grandson complained about the speed of his PS4., the old drive was getting too full. This drive is double the size and is quite speedy due to the onboard memory. He seemed to have no trouble installing it.
Edit: Installed in my son’s Xbox One as the internal drive. Worked fine and it doubled his storage. Not sure if the hybrid drive will perform any better. Probably should have just got an SSD. Maybe once the 1tb price comes down a little. Overall, nothing wrong with this drive. The model number difference might just be retail vs oem packaging with no real difference to the drive itself.
The drive was sealed, but the models don’t match up like other reviewer. The box is labeled ST1000LXZ15, but received ST1000LX015. Weird thing is the box has the new model number on it but says it contains the old one. Not sure what type of mind games they are trying to play. Either way, order the older model for a couple dollars cheaper because that’s what you will get if you order this one. Have yet to install it, but it’s sealed so I am confident it’ll work.
Overall I found it a bit unusual that this is listed as a newer model only to receive a box that shows a label on the outside that clearly says the older model inside. Overall I guess it really doesn't matter as long as it meets my expectations... I purchased this 2TB to replace the same 1TB model I installed in a PS4 Pro around 1yr. ago without issue.... First steps I always take on any hard drive is to quick format, run Seatools testing, Crystal Disk Info, Crystal Disk Mark, and ATTO bench... and at least I have a 1TB model to compare and thus far everything falls in line with performance. I copy various file sizes and videos and test playback etc. and power on and off a few times... Then lastly I do a complete low level format which can take many hours depending on the size of the drive... if all checks out I feel more confident in putting in something like a gaming console etc. So far I have been buying many Seagate Barracudas and Firecudas from 1, 2, 4TB without issue... I also had purchased 8TB external drive and had recently started producing some bad sectors... which can be common with large drives as they first come out on the market IMO. Overall happy with price to performance until SSDs get to be the same price as the physical.

Why is it the best in my opinion? Two reasons, I'm talking about the 2 TB only because if they made a 3 or 4 TB version I would have bought two of those instead. These are hybrid drives, that's the first reason and two is the price. I also had one in my previous build, it still works perfectly. I used to be a Western Digital fan when it came to mechanical harddrives but when I first discovered the Firecuda I had to try it out and I have been happy with the product. I use a Samsung 860 EVO SSD for a system drive but the Firecuda is my go to drive for games. SSD drives aren't really necessary for gaming, but they make excellent system drives.

I installed the FireCuda in my PS4Pro. Installation was easy and so was upgrading my playstation (just following instructions via YouTube). I don't really see a noticeable diference between my previous HDD speed and this firecuba hard drive speed when a game or playstation is loading but nevertheless I'm glad that I bought it. I now have 1 extra Terabyte of storage space available to store up to 20 or more games. I disliked the extra 3 weeks I had to wait for the hard drive to be delivered (due to being stuck at Clearance Delay) but that is what you should expect if you live in Cape Town, South Africa and order an item from overseas.

Installed this a couple of days ago. Install went as expected. Thank you YOUTUBE. After PS4 operating system, I now have 1.77 TB of usable space for games. Load time is faster and not as glitchy.
One month later and it is still working as expected.
