HP Elite 8200 SFF Desktop PC - Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz 8GB 500GB DVDRW Windows 10 Professional (Renewed)

HP Elite 8200 SFF Desktop PC - Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz 8GB 500GB DVDRW Windows 10 Professional (Renewed)

Works nice right out of the box. HOWEVER!!! This system only has a 250GB disk drive NOT the 500GB as listed in the posting. I will be contacting he seller to get this fixed. Please check yours right away if you buy one of this model. You don't want to discover six months later that you got shorted on disk space like I did.

My mother needed a new PC and this fits the need perfectly. It's very clean (though you can see some evidence of how dusty it was originally in a couple places,) it comes with a genuine Windows 10 license, and I found no bloatware other than VLC player which was kind of odd to have installed. PC also had little smell; sometimes you get one a smoker used and no matter how well you clean it, it reeks. Again this PC was very clean. 3 of the 4 DIMM slots are populated, 2G+2G+4G. Probably a good idea to reseat the RAM given it's a used PC. Not sure why neither the serial or product number are found on HP's support site, but you can find it using just the 'HP Compaq 8200 Elite' designation. You won't find any Windows 10 drivers, nor should you need any. Performance wise, it's good as a email/web surfing PC, but anything with more demanding graphics will need a dedicated video card; the Intel HD graphics are built into the CPU and it's really limited. Passmark gives the PC overall a 1144 score; CPU 6016, 2D 599, 3D 170, memory 1605, disk 843. It's a slim case so a video card would have to be low profile, but the slots are there. The PC boots quickly enough, relying on the Windows 10 hybrid sleep. A SSD would make quite a difference though. The keyboard and mouse included are very inexpensive.. I would almost rather not get them and save the $8 it probably cost for the pair. You'll want something better.

Installed this on New Years Day 2018, along with a new Dell Laptop. All seems well. Core i-5 processor is quick with opening apps/programs/websites (hardwired to router). Comes with a word processing program, which I deleted and installed my Office subscription (for now). Plan on replacing Office with 'Open Office Premium Suite' (also available on Amazon) which works well with Office docs, and costs about $13 ONCE instead of $99/year. Only glitch was there was NO SD card slot available in the model I was sent, so watch out for that. However, there are plenty of USB slots (4 front, 4 rear) available, and I simply use a USB stick with a card reader in it and it does great. DVD works great. The keyboard that comes with the computer is kinda' funky.....fully operational, but keys stick way up compared to most keyboards, so if you have a keyboard you like, keep it! New mouse that comes with the computer is great. There is no 'stand' as shown in the picture included, but I have mine standing on end with no problem (unless I kick it over someday). VERY satisfied for under $200 landed!

I work in IT and I can appreciate a good refurbishing job and this is DEFINITELY a good refurbishing job. There is no BS extraneous bloatware on here, but there are a few useful preloaded programs such as malwarebytes and a few other things. The system was clean and dust free, there was some cosmetic damage (as one should expect on a refurb, light scratched and such) but overall excellent quality

I purchased this to be used as a server and it almost pained me to wipe the install he put on here, as I could tell this was very professionally done. Also, while I didn't expect it, the computer also came bundled with a keyboard, mouse, and wifi adapter. They were cheap, but functional, and welcome extras

Works well and was easy to setup. The motherboard on my last PC bit the dust and I decided to replace the whole tower. It arrived really quick and was a way better deal than the local guys like best buy. Also, right as I was posting this, I saw someone say that it's a 250GB hd. I just confirmed and mine is 500GB

HP Elite 8200 SFF Desktop PC - Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz 8GB 500GB DVDRW Windows 10 Professional (Certified Refurbished)

First impressions:
It arrived promptly and looks almost new. It had 16 GB memory, better than the 8 GB advertised. Connected my own wireless mouse, keyboard and display. Turned on and it started working silently. No bloatware but some useful programs already installed like Google Chrome, VLC Media Player, Skype and Google Earth. So far 5 stars. In the next few days will test speed and other features.

The PC was packed tightly, and arrived in immaculate condition (and quickly, thanks to Amazon Prime). There wwere no missing screws, nothing broken. No flaws what-so-ever. The PC looked like Brand new on arrival, except that it arrived in a plain white box.

Setup of the computer itself was rather self-explanatory, after unpacking. Aside from minor updates, to Win10 there was no really anything to be done. There was no installation, or updates that needed to be applied before the PC itself could be used. It was literally plug in and play.

Very Happy with my computer.

Just received this computer – “beautifully packed.” That’s why I gave it five stars. I’ll be setting it up tomorrow and keeping you posted as to how it performs... PS: actually came with me packing slip!

Said I'd keep you posted so here you go! The computer is super! Love everything about it... EXCEPT WINDOWS 10!!! For that reason here's your 'here's why' no W10. Had no idea that you couldn't write a document 'OFF-LINE' which sounds to me like info gathering without my permission. Second: Once I realized that I disconnected from the web and turned the computer off before I went to bed...but guess what...the following evening ( with the computer STILL OFF) it came back on all on its own! ... Now it's unplugged!
Soooooo, here's what I intend to do. I'm going to keep my sweet little Elite 8200 SFF Desktop which I love so much ... Take it to my local computer geek... Have Windows 10 removed... and have XP or 7 installed (YES you sure can have that done!) 😎

I needed a new Windows 10 box to run Ham Radio programs, so I'm looking for a good refurbished machine since I don't need top of the line screaming game performance, nor do I want to spend a ton of money on it. I found this one to be a good fit. I've since added a $48 video card so I can run dual monitors. Don't expect it to run modern games without upgrading the video card to something more expensive though.

Pros: Win 10 Pro, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HD. As an added bonus, it has two real serial ports and a parallel port. The serial ports will probably be helpful if I ever have to connect to an older radio or TNC. Good value for the price.

Cons: The DVD is just a ROM, not an RW as advertised. I've sent the seller an email and hopefully will hear from them soon. Also, when adding the video card I noticed the back of the case was a little tweaked, as if something had fallen on the tool-free hold down for peripheral cards or the box had been dropped. I was able to get it bent back well enough to install the video card though.

This computer has a problem with boot times. It can take upwards of 2 minutes to boot up. To fix this problem, you need to do the following:

Here is how to fix.
Turn off the PC....Then Replace PC. ooops, just kidding...
Turn off the PC...press the power button, then start tapping the ESC key until you are presented with the boot option menu. From there, select SYSTEM SETUP. Once inside SYSTEM SETUP, select SECURITY, inside that menu select DEVICE SECURITY. Once inside that menu, select EMBEDDED SECURITY DEVICE ---> DEVICE AVAILABLE, change this one thing to DEVICE HIDDEN.

Press F10 to save, and then go back in to double check it is HIDDEN.
Exit BIOS by saving all changes.
Reboot
