I love love love this headset!!!
Comfortable, crystal clear mic, 7.1 surround sound, nice build quality and it looks darned nice too!
If you are concerned with durability, my experience after 6 months of almost daily use is that I have not had a single issue. No cracks, breaks, tears, failures or diminished sound quality. It looks, functions and sounds like brand new to this day.
Considering the overall quality and functionality of this headset, at this price point. it's a no-brainer. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. PS - I have no connection with Logitech nor did I receive any incentive to write this review. As an avid gamer and music lover - I'm just letting you all know that this is an awesome headset that should be on your very short list.
I've been using these headsets ever since they were released back in 2013. So I can attest that they definitely perform as advertised. The construction may seem on the flimsy side, especially where the swivels are, but incredibly the original set lasted until last year when that part actually broke. The sound quality never diminished throughout this time. The bass is well accentuated and punchy, the mids are clear, especially when listening to dialogue-heavy content, and the highs are crisp -not shrill. The 7.1 simulated surround works very well through the included sound card and software. It definitely helps while playing first-person shooter video games. The mic is clear, although sometimes it picks up a bit of "popping" because it does not have a cloth or pop-blocker -especially when breathing right into it. This is alleviated by placing the mic in the proper place before playing. The headset is rather light and comfortable. I wear them often for more that 2 hours at a time and they remain comfortable. However, the ear must be placed properly inside the cup so that the material does not rub too much and cause irritation. This doesn't happen too often but it must be mentioned. As far as the cloth in the cups, I appreciate that they are removable and washable. I really like this headset, and I even have gifted several pairs as the price is very attractive. My only gripe, which is also a strength, is the long cord that gets tangled and "curly" all too easy. One must pay attention and "uncurl" it from time to time so that it does not fringe as it as a fabric coated cord. Other than that I most definitely recommend it. Hope this helps!
Mostly everything about them so far is great.
You do have to do some research to fix the overlay of the mic and hearing yourself in the headset and auto adjust that makes your mic volume go wonky if you have any kind of back round sound.
To fix hearing yourself in the headset go to your play back devices - go to the properties on your head set then go to levels and turn the mic sound down to 0 problem fixed!
To fix the back round cancellation of the mic so you come out 'normal' on chat programs
in sounds go to 'recording' go to the properties or your mic and go to Advanced from there change the channel to 1 channel,16 bit, 48000 Hz (DvD Quality)
Hope this fixes these problems for anyone else who is having them
I bought these to replace a "high end" Astro headset with an external amplifier. After it broke due to poor quality, and being out $200 for my trouble, I needed something that would work for long-term use.
Some looking around, and these kept coming up in people's recommendations. I pulled the trigger without reading all the way, expecting a bog standard, cheapo headset with the bog standard 3.5mm jack, something I'd probably use as a stopgap until finding something a bit more substantial.
My expectations were exceeded in just about every way possible!
Let's talk about comfort. The headset is light, without feeling cheap, which is a huge bonus for something being worn for hours at a time. There's enough padding on the headband that I don't have to worry about the plastic digging into my scalp. The earcups are just big enough, and despite having some misgivings when I first bought them and got my hands on em (the fabric feels "crinkly" in the hand), hours later, there's no fatigue. A pleasant surprise.
Sound quality is utterly equivalent, at least to my ears, with my previous Astro set which was connected over optical. In other words, excellent.
I used the USB adapter (which appears to the computer as a separate sound device). I just plugged it in and it worked, no messing around. And as an extra bonus, even though the description here says that it's only supported on Windows and Mac, it also works just fine on a modern Linux like Ubuntu 16 with equivalent quality.
With the possible exception of the garish color (I'm not a fan of the cyber-neon blue, to be honest), this is quite possibly the perfect headset, and it puts others that cost many times more to absolute shame.
Highly, highly recommended!
I am very pleased with the Logitech G430 headset. I just received them and havent tested it much, but so far they are pretty good. I definitely prefer corded headsets, as they dont need to be charged. The headset comes with a USB dongle to double 3.5 mm jack. One for the audio and one for the microphone. The headset has the corresponding jacks. I didnt realize it came like this, I would have preferred a headset direct to USB, as I will not be using any other devices with the USB dongle. But, if I ever wanted to hook up another 3.5 mm device to a PC, I can. However, more than likely this will never leave my PC. The cable itself is braided which is nice and will prevent kinks. The cable is also very long, so that isnt a limiting factor. The braid, the ear covers and the head cushion are blue. I would have preferred black, but it didnt appear to be an option. Not a big deal, just a personal preference. The sound quality of the headset and the mic appear to be pretty good. I ran a few audio tests ranging in high to low frequencies and no issues. I havent tested the surround sound yet, but I will soon. I will update as necessary.

Description
G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset delivers 7.1 Dolby Headset surround sound and crisp, clear chat, with comfortable cloth ear cups and a lightweight design. Wired. System Requirements: Windows 7 or later, Nintendo Switch, PS4 or Xbox One USB port or 3.5mm headphone and microphone ports (Optional) Internet connection for Logitech G HUB
I purchased these Logitech 7.1 headphones because I needed a new pair of gaming headphones. It's a bonus that they come with a headset that I can use for multiplayer games (which I do not use frequently). The headphones are durable and comfortable, and I picked them up at a reasonable clip due to one of the flash sales. If you happen to get these on a sale - they are definitely worth it.
If you want to experience the 7.1 surround, you have to download some of Logitech's special software. I did this, and tried them out with the USB connection and found the experience to be enjoyable enough considering the money paid. If you can get over the appearance of the headphones (they are a bit bright), you can slip them on and have a comfortable evening of gaming.
Fair warning though if you're a hardcore gamer (or plan to use them every day): My brother has an insanely expensive pair of the Turtle Beach headphones/headset - and yes, those are much better and have better consistency in games. But considering the cost value comparison...I think he paid close to $200 for those. And these are much less expensive, but just as enjoyable and comfortable knowing I saved a bit of money on the deal.
Incredible sound, great pricing from Amazon. Had to be Logitech, because keyboard, mouse, camera, gaming pad are also Logitech. Speakers are Bose. Great Setup. Stereo, up to 7.1 DTS. great for gaming listening to music and watching movies in silence when everyone is resting.
And since it comes with it's own USB dongle that works as an independent sound card, the highs and lows are amazing. Of course there may be better headphones, but for the price these are amazing.
Long story short, I got the Beats Solo2 deluxe as a Xmas gift, but the cups are too small for my ears. So I wanted to get some Logitech headphones since I already own their keyboard and mouse not quite long ago and they've been performed great. But I didn't know any better until a friend recommended me this set for listening to music. I was quite confused at first. Because I thought they're specifically made for gaming? But they were on sale for 50% off, I was like what the heck and ordered them.
I was blown away how the Beats can't beat this "beast" on sound quality and clarity. Since these run on 7.1 surround sound instead of stereo. And these are like 4 times cheaper than the Beats Solo2 deluxe, like what?
Enough of comparing. This pair is not only for gamers, but also for music lovers. It's worth every penny. Plus, since it's designed for gaming for long hours, you can get on some marathon movies or jacking up music all night long. I only wish they have other color sets since my setup is black/red.
For the money, you can't get a better set of PC headphones. Mind you, they're not $200 SteelSeries, but they're 80% of that at 30% the cost. We now have three pairs (everyone in the family), and have had zero problems with them.
For Stereo sound, these are full sounding and reasonably clear. There's a little mud, but if you're used to headphones in the low-mid range (up to ~$100), these will match up very, very well.
The artificial surround is surprisingly good in Guild Wars 2, with good directional field despite a little more mud in the sound overall - although some would call the mud "fullness." In FPS gaming, the surround leaves a bit more to be desired.
In TeamSpeak or Mumble the microphone is quite clear, much better than most of our teammates. If you're not into push-to-talk, the thresholds are pretty easy to configure, plus there's a mute switch on the volume controller that is usually within easy reach if you can spare the hand.
The included USB sound card is a good add, well-aligned to the capabilities of the headset.
This is easily the most comfortable headset I've ever used. I have difficulty with my ears hitting the speaker in many headsets, and I don't like a lot of weight on the top of my head. These headphones solve both problems. The clamping force is enough to keep the headset in place while using the top pad only to keep alignment; and the depth of the speaker cups ensures my ears don't contact the plastic around the speaker.
There have been some complaints about the pivot joint where the earpiece meets the headband. I can see this being a weak point, but after a few years, we've not seen one break yet.
All in all, an exceptional value. Until I'm willing to invest in a set of high-end full-surround headphones, these are my go-to.
I cannot express how much I love this headset. It sounds great, has a long sturdy cord, and feels great too. I can wear it for a very long time without discomfort. In fact, I don't think I've ever worn it and thought it was uncomfortable. I use these for work and for play. What I mean is that by day I am a web designer and tech support guy and by night I play games and use Discord. In regard to the audio quality I think it has the right balance in highs and lows. In regard to the build quality, I like that it has a mic mute and volume knob on the wire. In regard to the mic quality, well it's no professional XLR Shure microphone but it isn't bad. It's clear and no one ever complains about the quality on a phone call or in Discord. Also, no one ever has trouble understanding me.
I got a second set to use on my gaming computer in the bed room.
My girlfriend also got herself a set so we don't have to fight over a headset or share. The spare headset we used to use was a $15 one from Giant Eagle and it sounded bad, hurt to wear for long periods, and the mic quality was awful. People would complain in Discord calling it our dollar store headset.
The only complaint one might give is that it is not wireless. But, that is stated on this listing that it is a wired headset. In certain scenarios I prefer the wired headset, so if that suits you then GET THIS. Long cable and no batteries ever! It comes with a USB adapter if you'd rather plug in by USB but I don't do that. I use the green and red cable and plug straight in the sound card (usually the front panel (if you have that, you probably do unless your machine is super ancient) cause it's more convenient).
p.s. I see on the listing it says Playstation 4. I am guessing it means by using the USB in the front of the system cause it definitely won't plug in the controller. I wouldn't recommend this for a PS4, get a proper PS4 headset. I recommend this for a PC.
