Hirt's Reverse Variegated Spider Plant - Easy to Grow - Cleans The Air - 4" Pot

Hirt's Reverse Variegated Spider Plant - Easy to Grow - Cleans The Air - 4

This plant was tested by NASA for use in Space Stations and in future trips to Mars and other planets because it is so effective at removing toxins from the air and quickly returning oxygen. This plant gets rid of Carbon Monoxide -a colorless odorless deadly gas that comes from automobiles and other gasoline based engines, Carbon DiOxide - (spelled this way to show difference from Carbon Monoxide) -Carbon Dioxide is the result of our breathing and which if you are in an enclosed area or room without good ventilation can kill you also, this plant also gets rid of stale odors, cigarette smoke, formaldehyde - which comes from a lot of new plastic products and their wrappings you take off, benzene -which comes from any oil-based burning fuel, Xylene (found in cigarette smoke, and some other plant-based smokers smoke, and Trichloroethylene which is a solvents type of gas vapor which comes from old rubber and leather glues, etc -stuff you never think of as emitting gas over a long period of time. -- Just add water, a better bigger amount of potting soil and corresponding large pot- (mine is about 8 inches square) feed it with a little balanced fertilizer, or one in which nitrogen is higher (Like Miracle Grow which you use an inch of the end of a common soda straw's worth of fertilizer every 2 weeks plus a few inches of water a week (depending if its in a warmer location). It needs sun, it needs talking to (and no I'm not kidding). It is good to have friends …:-)

I waited at least 3 months before writing this review to see how my plant would do. It came well wrapped in an envelope inside a box. I think I left it in the pot a day before repotting with Miracle Gro Potting Soil. My soil later became moldy, but I think that was more Miracle Gro's fault. I then baked the soil in an oven and no longer had that problem afterwards. Anyway, my plant is doing very well and I only water it about once a week with distilled water and leave it by the window.

I ordered this plant after my original Spider Plant I had purchased from Lowes died. (One of the baby is still alive that I gave to a girl.) After a few days I noticed yellow tips and a stem with a runner had snapped. I contacted the Seller just for some good advice. I got an email reply very quickly stating that a new plant was on the way and the Tracking Number.

I was not asking for a new plant but did not want them to think I was asking for a refund so I said yes this would satisfy the situation. I gave the first plant to that girl with the green thumb and she has made 5 plants out of it yesterday. She says she just keeps the plant by a tinted window and waters it with tap water. I had been using distilled but now buy Spring water and mix with tap water in a spray bottle. I am wondering if the electronics and Wi Fi was too much for the first plant. I mainly wanted the plant as an air purifier that would be safe for my 2 cats. One of my cats I caught nibbling the original plant. Need to plant some wheat grass for the cats. I will definitely buy again and highly recommend.

I’ve never had a plant shipped to me. I have to admit I was nervous. The other reviews also made me nervous. But I bought it anyway because I live in the desert and couldn’t find a simple spider plant in aany local stores. So. I bought it the end of August. Shipping was slow (which also had me worried for the plant) but it held up. It’s actually a couple of babies based on the way they separate so that was good. I re-potted it the day it came in. I figured I’d get all the shocking things over with at the start. That was probably the saving grace. It was very much root bound. But it’s been almost a month and is doing well. My pictures are Sept 6th after I potted it. Sept. 13th and just now, Sept 28th. I’m happy. Oh I didn’t have any bugs but I rinsed it off before I potted it just in case.

I was nervous ordering them online, but they came in great condition and have looked good all week.
I just repotted them in these pots (the ones in the photo).

I’m only a few weeks in... will update as I go...

I had an huge spider plant for years that took a turn and I’m still struggling to save. I ordered two of these babies for just in case and cause you can never have too many spider plants. Lol. They arrived early than expected, packaged safely.. plants were beautiful! I waited 24 hours before moving them into their pots from the little ones they came in... so far so good, they are perky and healthy and looking fabulous!! So happy with these so far that I order more just today!! Will update in a few weeks time! 👍☺️

I've ordered these twice. Both times the plants arrived healthy in the dead of Chicago winter, even after one of them had a shipping delay (thanks USPS). No bugs hitched a ride either.

They're small but they grow quickly - my first one is noticeably larger after only a month. If you're looking for a healthy, easy care houseplant you can't go wrong with these (but make sure your cat can't get to it - mine nearly ate the whole thing. But the little plant survived and looks great again!)

spider plant is established and doing well on arival. it came beautifully wrapped and with moist soil. this is the 3rd purchase from this seller and all three have met or exceeded my expectations of purchasing plants sight on seen. Highly Recommend this seller (and will purchase from again)!

it's actually doing pretty well. I used the plant food that was provided and replanted this plant. Hopefully it'll do alright, I'll give an update in a month or two.....

UPDATE 1/6/14.....this plant has yellowing leaves, I don't know if it'll die or not. I'll update in another month.

    UPDATE 1/16/14
I contacted seller regarding my plant dying, they were awesome, they quickly and without hesitation sent me new plants almost the next day. Wonderful people to work with, and the plants are doing splendidly. I HIGHLY recommend giving your plants about a week to recuperate from their travel with a little water intermittently. I think the problem I had when I got my plants the last time was I replanted them too early.

    Thank you!!

I received my spider plant today. I was pretty worried as the temp here in MN has been below zero the past few day. The plant came in a box and when I opened it there were packing peanuts and it was wrapped in paper and plastic. I watered it and placed it under grow lights. It looks pretty good. I'll probably repot it in a week or so.
